HRiver 1,512
Cech is 30. He can still be our no.1 goalkeeper for at least 5 more years, imo.
diskoviolente 425
Yes, to be honest I hope he retires with us. Obviously a risky whish, given the problems that United have replacing Van der Sar, but I think Big Pete is very important to the team when the likes of Terry and Lampard get less and less action time.As I said, there must be a way to blood Thibaut into the position of taking over from Cech one day without pushing Cech out of the team. Cech, unfortunately, had a lot more injuries than the average keeper.

Hostedenis 556
Courtois played 90 minutes with the national Belgian squad today, against the Netherlands. Although he conceded 2 goals, I believe he played a great game (Belgium won, 4-2, to Holland). Courtois did some very nice saves!

Kinol 337
we play 60+ games a year ...split them 35 25..You cant just split games between goalkeepers...And about Cech, ive heard that his condition (being born a triplet) is making his body weaker than regular bodies and therefor he will have to retire sooner than regular goalkeepers. Not sure about this though,
termninja 5,290
What I really like about him is not great saves he makes, but how mature his game is. He is really calm and players seemed to have full trust in him. In a year or two he should have no problems with England, except 1st season until he gets used to the atmosphere, new life and physical side. francozola

harveyb1 0
Yeah but nowadays it's essential for the goalie to have a good understanding with his defence, and different goalies obviously prefer different things, therefore if they split games between keepers, it will ruin our defence. Jase 43,479
John Chapman @BelgoFoot Thibaut Courtois confirmed (to La DH) that he'll play in Super Cup (Atletico Madrid - Chelsea), request of keeper coach Chris Lollichon
zolayes 14,489
the split is sufficient for both to have an understanding.international sides do it on a handful of games.I am convinced if we leave him in Spain he will stay there. He has no connection to England or Chelsea We Hate Scouse
BlueLion. 21,491
If Lollichon requested it, then that's fair enough. Hope he doesn't feel too gutted/rub it in our faces at the end of the game! xPetrCechx

Jase 43,479
http://www.7msport.com/news/newsdata/20120819/77019.shtmlThibaut Courtois is ready to burn the midnight oil as Atletico Madrid begin their bid to improve on last season's fifth-place finish in the Primera Division. The 20-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, who is spending a second year with Atletico on loan from Chelsea, admits he would rather his side's opening game against Levante began earlier than 11pm.But there can be no avoiding Sunday's late show, so Courtois will ensure he remains sharp for the tussle with the team who finished a place below Atletico last term."It's late for me to play at 10pm, and at 11pm it is very late," he said, "but we are professionals and if we have to play it at 11pm we will."It will be difficult, but we hope to play well and win and forget about the time."Midfielder Juanfran Torres will be an absentee for Atletico, having suffered a knee injury on duty with Spain against Puerto Rico on Wednesday, but Courtois is fit after playing in Belgium's win over Holland.Courtois has another big date in his diary, the UEFA Super Cup match against Chelsea in Monaco at the end of the month."Chelsea is my club," he said, "but I am also professional and play here and I want to win the Super Cup."I want to play, do well and win the trophy."Courtois has Petr Cech ahead of him at Chelsea, but the abundance of experience he has been afforded with Atletico has helped. The youngster said at a press conference, according to his club's website, that Atletico should be pushing for the Champions League places and he should be looking to hone his own game."I'm only 20 and I can improve a lot," he said. "I made two or three mistakes last year and that has to come out of my game."I want to have a great season, not only on a personal level but with the whole team. We can play better and get into the Champions League."
Hamilton 2,120
A weird article in Belgian press today..Barcelona would have made contact with the Genk board to ask what percentage they would get from a future transfer of Courtois..
