🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois

Still, she's a professional doctor. Of course the players are going to say they're okay.

Exactly. She has a degree in medicine and a masters in sports medicine. I doubt very much she would have let him continue if she didn't know for sure he was ok. The fact that he obviously deteriorated soon after the incident is something she couldn't have predicted and criticising her is frankly asinine.

That collision was extremely nasty. Feared for his condition when he just laid like KOed person after clattering with Sanchez. Luckily he got back on afterwards and hope nothing serious comes off from the clash.

The game which preceded the international break, our 2-0 win against Arsenal, saw Courtois taken off during the first half following a collision with Alexis Sanchez, but having played both of Belgium’s matches he was fit to start in south London.

He thanked Petr Cech for his support following the incident, and revealed his team-mate had given him some important advice.

‘I’ve already played two games with the national team after the injury against Arsenal so there’s no problem,’ he said. ‘I’m not thinking about not diving at the feet of opposing players, you just have to do the same things. What happened against Arsenal was real bad luck but it can happen.

‘Petr sent me a message after the Arsenal game; he tried to call but I couldn’t answer the phone so he texted me, which was really nice of him. He told me in the Premier League some strikers go in hard against the goalkeeper so sometimes it’s maybe better to protect your head, get down quicker using your shoulder or leg to protect your head.

‘That’s the tip he gave me and it was good because when you come to a new league sometimes things are different.’
