Nothing wrong with his tactics today. Lack of depth still worryng. Playing Terry instead of Cahill was the right decision.
A new LB was bought, and I hope in near future we will see Azpi playing as RB and Ivanovic out of the starting XI, at least as long as RB role is concerned.
Good start for Pedro, at least he can score goals, and we can say the same about Willian. Oscar, Hazard and Pedro is the ideal combination with William as an option.
Squad still lacks depth and this is going to be a tough season.

As far as I'm concerned, José is trying his best to turn this around. Playing Pedro and Willian today was impressive, for me, because he's firstly understood that Willian is capable of that number 10 role ahead of using Ramires anywhere on the pitch. But also he trusts Pedro and that trust was rewarded tenfold today!
Yes we've got problems in defence and midfield, but he's solved one of our issues. Which is our lack of attacking depth on the right hand side. Let's hope when Baba's got enough training under his belt that Ivanovic will be phased out.
Mourinho's got now Ivanovic and Terry to be concerned with. Zouma put in a good performance as usual, so you can see that Mou's starting to trust him. That's one step. But he also knows he can't just replace 3/4 of that backline and expect them to click. The quadruple of Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry and Azpili took 2-3 seasons to gel perfectly. He'll understand that Rahman and Stones will have to be eased in.
I still trust him to turn this around. This season might not be a title winning one, but it'll be a positive transition. Bolded and underlined because our past attempts at 'transition' have been dire, but I really do believe Mou can pull this off. It won't be pretty, but it could be effective.

Strangely enough, that's not what I was thinking as I stood at Eel Brooke Common in May. Jose has work to do and, since win loose or draw makes no difference to that reality, we might as well win while he does it.
Will you forgive me if I say that your opinions seem rather immature to me? The thought that you can see what Jose cannot is just silly and taking Jose's public pronouncements as a direct indication of his private thoughts is sillier still. Just because Jose does not choose to attack our problems in the way you would does not mean that he is wrong. These are his decisions to make and he has earned the right to make them. What's more as you know better than I do, the overwhelming majority of Chelsea fans are going to support him while he does. I know I will.

We lost there 3 out of 4 times. Yea its a big deal. We lost against a great team in Man City and Swansea game was like today. Just as we get some sort of rhythm going we go down to 10 men. So relax, its not all doom. Get Ivanovic out the starting 11 and we wont be doing so bad.

Lionsden, forgive me, you've probably explained this many times and I may even have read it somewhere along the way but, as I type, I can't remember why this issue is so important to you.
You, me and pretty much everyone else here would like to see Cobham graduates regularly starting for the first team, and we all know it is an avowed aim of the club and its manager to see this happen but it can only be a subsidiary aim surely. The key goal must remain to produce a Chelsea team which plays the way we'd like and which dominates on the pitch. If that dream comes to be then, even though I take more interest in the development squads than most, I'll be counting the trophies, not the number of Cobhamites involved.
Jose needs no excuses. Only if the kids show themselves to be good enough, will they get game time. That's the only route for them. I think the challenge for people who take your point of view is that, so far, not one Cobham product has gone on to show that level of ability elsewhere. In fact, so far, they've all gone on to prove the exact opposite.

He is one of the main reasons why I’m here. He phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team stronger.
