He won't be sold because it would be a massive hit to his book value. He got a 7 year contract back in 2022. Transfer was around 70-75 million.

It was on Maresca, you sub off two attackers that early in the game (knowing Cole isn't anywhere near 100%), then you throw on George and Gusto when we actually had a chance to have a go at United. At this point, I'm not sure what Maresca is trying to prove by bringing on George off the bench every other game.

Get ready for more losses in the PL, just saw our upcoming fixture list π
-
Just wait for the next two games, Brighton & Liverpool will be having a party at the Bridge.
-
We already had a pretty good young CB at the club (Veiga) and the decision was made to sell him and keep Tosin/Chalobah/Fofana.
-
Opposition under pressure, playing at Old Trafford, their manager just had talks with their owner.... This has 1-0 to them (courtesy of a free penalty from us) or 1-1 written all over it π Talk about horrible fixtures, we got United (away), then Brighton at home, then Liverpool at home.
-
Thought Palmer had a minor issue at the end of the Bayern game?
-
All of the games will be tough, we just looked off the pace. What happened to Enzo, just looks a bit slow since start of the season. Was hoping Lavia would be back by now to offer midfield rotation. Club made a mistake not going after a good CB + GK in the transfer window. Instead we spent 50 million on Gittens and then another 40 on Garnacho.
-
If we did sign a keeper, we'd still be stuck with Sanchez and Jorgensen on the books with even lower re-sale value. The Maignan deal made sense as he was old enough to play a few seasons and if Penders is as good as they say, he would be ready to fight for that #1 spot in 2 years time.
-
Seems like both him and Disasi were listed in the PL squad because we had space. Estevao, Gittens, Facundo are all in the U21 list as per PL webpage
-
I agree but I was more saying that Kudus would have offered a different physical profile to the rest of our attack. It would be similar to Arsenal getting Eze when they have Odegaard already. Arteta wanted that technical skill and they will have more than enough game time over the season. Surely Maresca would have found a way to play with Simons & Palmer π
-
I would take Kudus over Gittens any day of the week Such a shame that Spurs got him and Simons.
-
Exactly, it was interesting to see the early subs but it was obvious we were off the pace after the international break. Hopefully the likes of Facundo, Gittens, even Guiu start to pull their weight as squad players, its going to be a Long season!
-
Almost like we sold our starting striker and starting right winger from last season and our star player has been out of the side for 2 games π I know Gittens & Madueke play on opposite wings but man....talk about a downgrade in talent. No wonder why Arsenal dropped their interest in Gittens, the kid is still super raw.
-
They must rate him highly....such a shame that Veiga and Maresca fell out, he had all the tools to be very good CB.
-
Yep, looks like he'll be out for 12 weeks We seem to have no luck with backup DM's https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6618754/2025/09/11/Chelsea-injury-news-dario-essugo/

They only started hating Chelsea when Roman brought Jose to the club and we started winning again and again π Those Champions league trophies must have really pissed off other top clubs as we did it against the odds!!
-
Potentially Ange back in the Premier league!
-
Roman had Oscar, Ramires and Willian They make up for some of those 'dodgy' signings π
-
This isn't surprising, why would Bayern agree to such a high obligation fee without favourable terms.
-
You realise that if we sell Tosin and/or Chalobah, we would have to replace them with locally trained players to have a full champions league squad I just hope we don't rush Colwill back, let him recover properly as he'll be key for our defensive lineup.
-
So if we signed Simons, we would have been over the cap? π
-
This actually makes alot more sense as to why we didn't proceed with the Simons deal, maybe we didn't have a free spot for him π Much easier to tell a player who came for a cheap depth loan "hey you didn't make the UCL squad, focus on PL & Cup"
-
Wonder if it's anything to do with the List A, List B requirements. You only get 25 players if you have 8 locally trained players and from what I can see, we only have 6....does Garnacho count as association trained? Sanchez, Jorgensen, Cucurella, Tosin, Badiashile, Colwill, Hato, Chalobah, James, Gusto, Fofana, Fernandez, Palmer, Gittens, Essugo, Santos, Caicedo, Neto, Delap, Joao Pedro, Guiu, Estevao, Garnacho. I'm guessing we only have 6 locally trained players and that leaves the remaining 17 as non-local.

Thats what I thought because there was a post on reddit where they said Nkunku's sale helped cover the Garnacho transfer but we would be hit by UEFA if the Simons deal went through. Thats why we were trying to offer Nkunku or even George as part of the Simons deal but Nkunku wasn't interested
