We should have signed Farfan two years ago, when we were also linked with him. He is just like a faster, more skilled, more experienced and more mature Moses. He would give us great balance in the attacking team, surely more than Schürrle or whoever. Sadly he is already on the way down and won't get any better. He would probably need some time to acclimatize to the EPl and at his age he does not have that time.

Bertrand has played 150 games on loan, lack of experience is not his problem. Why take a player out who is already a part of the squad and replace him with s.o. who is not?

No it is not, cos opposite to Paul Scholes, the numbers speak for Led Zep. No awards, no stats, no videos... just some warm words... sry when that does not convince me. I'd say legacy is a completely different story. Lampard incented an era of success at Chelsea, he captained the club to both big European titles, is topscorer of the club...scholes, well there are at least 2 guys singing his praises on a Chelsea forum... Scholes as well as Lampard has been a box-to-box midfielder. For me a box-to-box midfielder is all about his effectivity. 271 goals and more than 150 assists speak for themselves. So whatever these feats of your Stone-Age-Scholes might be. As there is obviously only folk memory left of it (ah that's what you call legacy), I struggle to retrace...leave it at that.

MOTM at the greatest of stages against one of the best teams in the world. What are we waiting for?

"your are the best player in the world" Mourinho to Lampard "Frank Lampard is currently the best and most complete player in the world" Matthias Sammer "myvote for World Player of the year award will go to him" - Luiz Felipe scolari about Frank Why did I not include these quotes into my argumentation? Cos they are no arguments themselves. I could dig out quotes about any dork in world football that make him sound like he had achieved division by zero. When many experts come together and vote, the outcome is intersubjective and hence way more valuable. It is nothing special to play the pass to assist. Lamps does it often enough, too. Scholes might have been a good player for some years in his career. But I see nothing in this "complete" compilation of him, what a hell lot of other player can't do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3AHuFCoybo

what about reading the whole post?

As Lamps did for Chelsea on soooo many more occasions AND he got on the stat sheet. So if Scholes play never was about goals and assists, why did he lost his starting spot when his assists and goals became fewer and fewer. If he never was about scoring, why did everyone in English press always hailed him for his 1 goal every 4 games average? If scholes did dictate the game so well, why did he win a lot less titles than Lampard in an comparable space of time? If Scholes was ever so great why did he never collect the awards like other great midfielders did?

I follow english football since 2004. Not my fault Scholes spent these 9 years of his career picking his nose on the Utd bench. But in my books this is not what good players do. Obviously I've not missed so much anyway, cos anything one can find about Scholes does not come anywhere near what Lamps has achieved. I also did not see Lother Matthäus, Bobby Charlton or Zinedine Zidane play much. Still I can compare them to Lamps, cos what I can find about them legitimises that. You know, they did not spend 9 years on the bench with players like Anderson, Fletcher and Hargreaves starting over them...

I also lmao at the comparisons to Scholes. No way should a player like Scholes compared to a player so much superior. Thank god not only statistics but also the football world (for those of you who prefer the survey method) have it the same @ Lamps vs Scholes vs Gerrard 1.Lampard prime > Scholes prime In 2005 Lamps was 2nd in world and European player of the year, which is quite some feat cos he is english&epl player, Scholes has never won an individual award of any significance 2.Lampard overall > Scholes overall reflected by performances, stats and statistics respectively. https://twitter.com/BigJohnTerry/status/291291194531651584/photo/1 They are not quite up to date (from end janaury or so)and only premier league but, updating and including more competitions only influences these stats even more in Lamps's favour, cos Gerrard has only assembled a massive 3 goals since then whilst Scholes has recorded a bombastic 0 goals and 0 assists. Lamps has scored at least 10 goals. If u include all competitions Lamps has 271 goals which is about as much as Scholes and gerrard have combined overall. Also Lamps's 0,34 goals per game ratio beats them both comfortably with 0,2 and 0,23 respectively. Interesting is also that Lamps has more goals in the league alone than either Scholes or Gerrard have overall( which are more matches). Also for England Lamps has a far better scoring record than both. Also funny is that Lampard has waaay more games, esp. starts than Scholes, despite being 5 years younger. Shows how much the two actually contribute to their clubs. Lamps has outscored Gerrard in 13 of the 17 seasons they have played in parallel, including the including the last 4 running, even though being older, outassisted Gerrard in every season they have played in parallel i have checked so far, outassisted and outscored Paul Scholes in every season since 2004. Scholes's prime 2000-2005 is not even close to Lamps's 2005-2010 in terms of goals and assists and most importantly titles. Yes titles. When Scholes had the biggest imapct on his team during his career before becoming a bench player in these years he won 2 leagues, 1 fa cup, Lamps won 3 leagues, 4 fa cups and 2 league cups when he had the biggest impact on the team. Now i have dug really deep to find some individual awards Scholes actually has won. He has been in the team of the decade 1992-2001. , Lamps has been player of the decade 2000-2009. Lamps has also won 39 individual awards to Scholes 7. Lamps also won 4 times player of the month, 3 times pfa team of the year to scholes's 2, Lamps has won silver award in european and world player of the year, world xi and countless other awards scholes can only dream of. That is why all in all Lamps beats scholes and gerrard in terms of all relevant statistics and individual awards. Let's not forget Lampard literally kicked Scholes out of the England team. Scholes was 30 when he retired form international football. Lampard still carries on with almost 35. In the ManU team Scholes was replaced by the mighty Steven Fletcher. Lampard had the competition of Deco, Ballack, Essien...and got the better of anyone. Scholes played his last season in which he contributed in and not only featured as a mascot that sometimes strayed into the starting lineup (as a consequence of Utd's chronically shit midfield), carried as charity cause, in 2003/4 when he was 29. Lamps at the age of almost 35 is still a massive part of the team. 13 years of worldclass vs half career as Utd's answer to paulo ferreira (post 2007 ofc). Lamps simply has performed better no matter what way you measure it and has done so over a way longer period. You can compare Lampard to Zidane, Bobby Charlton or Lothar Matthäus. Scholes?

simply recall him. We will be short on both RB and Cb, he would easily end up with 10-20 starts and 20-30 appearences overall. Hope he is in Mourinho's book.

I do not remember us being in the title hunt in 11/12... Ofc I mean 10-11. Torrid game, we should have got a penalty, no idea whether a player was sent off and in the last minute or so beckford scored a lucky solo goal. Did not matter in the end, but if you had played like that vs ManU, we might have had shot for the title.
-
He simply is not good enough. He is a one-trick pony, he is far too slow to become a great winger and I do not have a clue what built or commercializability (is this an English word?) have to do with it. I do not demand a big money buy. But another winger should be right-sided and fast, which Antoine Griezman is not.
-
This is gonna be uncomfortable without Hazard. Are Everton still in for anything? Probably doesn't matter, it is always hard for us playing them. They usually raise their game when facing a bigger opposition but we seem to be a special case for them. Remember 2011. We could have overhauled ManUtd who lost to Arsenal, if Everton had got a result but they gifted them easy points @Goodison, whereas they parked the bus when we came there.
-
wenger: "I would love play off game vs Chelsea" Of course he would, cos they have played 20 games less this season. Still we will slash them a 3rd time running.
-
I like him, too. I have seen him for France U19-U21 teams and I would strongly advise against signing him. He is surely good but nowhere near Chelsea level and probably never will. That is rather because of his physical than technical abilites. He is good at dribbling and has a decent shot too, but as a winger you should either be good at crossing ala Beckham, Figo or be able to get behind the defender a la Hazard, Walcott. He often takes on the defender, sees that he is not fast enough to take him on, than he tries some skills, which work when the defender is inexperienced but in most cases it does not so he passes it back, get some space adn puts an average cross in. He has some decent skills and also his finishing is good, but in terms of contribution as a winger he is simply neither the level nor the type of player we should look out for.
-
His contract runs another 2 years so he is not gonna cost 94m again However, this is not gonna happen. Apparently he has fallen out with Mou, so would make no sense to come here
-
Juan Mata weaknesses: Weak, small, one footed, slow, unconsistant finishing, bad leaper - yes, definitely a striker. Might also try play him as Goalkeeper or Centre back, would be probably as useful there.
-
Dortmund won't sell him. Great player ofc.

I already did. My brother and some mates of me agreed wih me, when I made this point. but this is not the point. Do you really think collecting opinions is an epistemologically valuable way to finding the truth?I will ask my mathmatics professor why we do not simply make a survey and ask the people what the right solution is instead of this strenious thinking and reasoning...yup just let's put an "Is there anyone else who thinks that?" and leave it at that

Lamps's performances in the very crucial games this season once again proved his critics wrong. He remains, no matter his age, one of the best midfielders in the world, individually (also if not in the pivot), and one of the best and most important players in the team. Prolonging his contract was the only reasonable decision and probably the threat of him leaving was never as great as the media made it look like. Funny enough, that the people who want him out of this club, in the end took all their medial vindication out of nothing but hot air. In the end they were completely alone with their delusions. I do not really like these Scholes/Giggs comparisons. They never were anywhere near as good as Lampard and their contribution, even in their prime, which feels like 900 years ago, is ridiculous compared to Lamps's. I got not the shadow of a doubt that Lamps will be waaay more effective. Lamps simply is the greatest player ever to wear the shirt and that is so much more than a career artificially prolonged into mediocrity.

Kalas, yeah forgot about this kid, you are right, he should be given achance next season.
-
He is finally gonna leave... A little sad, cos he has been such a loyal servant for so long, but no one should have given such a rapidly declining player a 6 year deal, so I am rather relieved. Hope the club don't fuck this up and get some decent replacement. Simply make Todd Kane or Wallace or anyone from the youth 2nd option. I do not give a fuck if they would benefit more from a loan or shit. We develop these players for them to play for us so we do not have to buy others.

Rafa finally showed that he deserves respect as a manager. Never liked here and we, the fans, did not make it easy for him in the first place and he surely has to acknowledge his mistakes in our other cup losses, but he has completed the top4 task which was necessary and he got one the most important trophy left after Premiership and CL got begging. Like it or not, but Rafa is indeed a champion.
