Completely agree , i see Terry going nowhere. Even in his interview Jose said its important that players like terry , cole and lampard are still at the club.
Personally i am 50/50 about it 20 mill is a lot for a 32 year old.

Good post. I agree for the most part.
What you get with Luiz is drive and determination to come forward and force the issue. He has since learned to be a little less temperamental, but he still has the ability to surge forward 50 yards and begin an attack from his forward-thinking. When he is in midfield he has licence to do that more, and it helps create opportunities, especially when you have a pretty lethargic midfield pairing (for example Mikel and Lampard, who are hardly the most mobile).
My suggestion would be only to play Luiz in the midfield position when we are chasing the game (bringing on Cahill for Mikel in a match would allow Gary to go in at centre-back and Luiz to play in the midfield; there would be a simple change in personnel but an instant significant shift in ideology in the midfield area) or against low-quality opposition (such as against Leeds, when he did a very good job there with several other midfield players out with injury).
I personally think he has come on leaps and bounds this season as a defender. For me, he has been our most consistent defensive player, better even than Azpilicueta. He is a centre-back and should stay there, in my opinion. He is a great footballer, yes, but he reads the play excellently and has got us out of many a sticky situation this season, in my opinion.

its just a money making friendly. i dont think theres any harm in this. and hopefully it will just be a fun game, unless we come 5th and its a really depressing game. i dont see any problem with this. Lukaku will smash it.

First leg is massive in this! like most have said, a big win at home would be ideal!

When it first started out, i kind of wasn't too bothered by us winning the europa league, I'd have still liked to, but wasn't bothered. now i find myself wanting us to win it, theres no English teams in the champions league, so we may as well do well in the europa league and get something from europe.

Im excited. shame about the long trip and the fixture congestion, but we should be able to handle it.

What if cech is going to be like van der sar!? we will never see Courtois!
but yeah i hear you, i was just saying that theres that awful 10% chance of all those nasty things happening and it scares me because it excites me when i think of our chelsea team in 2 or 3 seasons time with his name in goal.

If we want him back, we click our fingers and he comes running. Fortunately I've seen nothing to suggest he's going to be troublesome.
As for Cech, we're going to move on from him at some point and if we have a once in a generation chance to do that then you have to remove emotion from the equation and take the sensible business move. It's very rare for a team to go from one player who's best in the world to another.

I agree. I watched the majority of the game yesterday and didn't think he played as well as he has done. It was one of his worse games for WBA. However he did make the odd run, he did provide some crosses, and he was in space sometimes with no delivery. BUT it was not a good performance. Important well executed header though.
but that is what you'd expect from a 19 year old. I think overall so far on his loan he has done exceptionally well. I look forward to him being part of our team in the future.

Long gets more minutes but is more useful for the team. But give Lukaku the minutes both Long and Torres have had, he will score more goals. But he'll also frustrate the hell out of you.
Everybody was moaning a bit at Lukaku during the WBA game against Norwich (lack of work rate, always asking the ball, etc). But then he heads home the winner just before the end of the game and everybody shuts up. That's Lukaku.
That said, he also have played games were he was very good at linking up play. But that's mostly when he comes on as a sub and just plays with the tired defenders like they don't exist.

    Such a shame.

This bit of buisness is going to haunt us for seasons to come.

What i want to happen (but won't): we bring back Lukaku, and play him like west brom have (super sub/starts every now and then). he's a good player, and yes he's only 19, but he's better than Torres... and what better way to develop a player than to play him in the team he will be playing with in the long term...

Another thing: We buy Falcao. gooood. Sell Torres, if not he can just put up with the reduction in game time. if we do sell Torres we should get Walcott or someone else half decent on the cheap.

OR we try to buy Falcao, fail, dont recall Lukaku and panic buy an average striker for 50m.

Danny deserves gametime, but its a shame he couldnt be happy in the role he was in. (he needed ot make some sub appearances and some more starts though, the lack of game time he got was unbelievable, especially with the form of Torres...)

Im going to go on a bit of an out of character rant here because tbh i am sickened by some of the stuff i have read about Roman these past 48 hours.
Now do i agree with his decision to sack Roberto Di Matteo? no, but some of the knee jerk reaction's dearie me, didn't we learn from the AVB sacking when we hastily stripped Lampard of his legend's tag, only to back track a couple of months later and realize he wasn't as guilty as we thought.
Roman is a Chelsea fan like we are, if i was the owner i would probably do things that would have some of you tearing your hair out, we would do what we think is best for the club as a whole and Roman is doing that.
We seem to want managerial stability, this is not the ancient times any more it just doesn't happen in football these days, Ferguson is a complete one off as soon as he is gone United will join the growing club or chopping and changing managers, it's the way football works these days (rightly or wrongly) and by in large it get's result's. Roman is not this evil owner who changes manager's for the sake of it, it's just the way modern football works just we for some reason seem to be scapegoated for it. Roman's method's get's result's, period.
Our stability is Roman, and believe me id rather change managers and have a dedicated owner than vice versa.
Below are the stats of most top European clubs (and Tottenham) and how many times they have changed manager since Roman's takeover at Chelsea.
    Chelsea: 8
    Bayern Munich: 7
    Real Madrid: 10
    Inter Milan: 9
    Ajax: 7
    FC Porto: 8
    Tottenham: 6
Now if you ask the two English clubs who are in a better position now compared to 10 years ago most will say (after City) Chelsea and Spurs, surprise, surprise the two serial manager changing clubs off the last decade, but what both clubs have is stability upstairs, which is much more important.
So can someone explain why are we the 'joke' and the 'poison chalice for managers' when their is more than 1 other club around just as bad when it comes to chopping and changing ill never know.
Constant managerial changes are the norm in most football clubs on this planet these days, not just Chelsea, Ferguson is a one off, we need to get the idea of us finding our version out of our head right now.
We might if were lucky find a manger who will stick around for 3-5 years but another Fergie? as much chance as a lottery win so best never get too comfortable with a manager, because the days of managerial changes here and abroad are not going away, so best get use to it.
