  1. Fair enough I think we did reach the saturation point of spending £50 million on a bad player But you are right, that was then, this is now. I just don't want us to pay that much for a young kid - if he starts badly he will get crucified by the press and the price tag becomes a Damocles sword... We 'might not have no history lol' - but wouldn't want us to repeat the same mistakes There are other 'cheaper' options available. As for City - they didn't win convincingly Bayern - did ok, but added more players than the previous season and DID WORSE!!! Real Madrid - done well in Europe but didn't win the league, so spent more and improved little.. So out of those 3 big spending clubs - they didn't actually do that well all considering... Hence my point about spending not equaling success or should I rephrase to ' Domination'
  2. So this is the link from Jake Cohen http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2014/5/12/5707484/chelsea-ffp-earnings-set-to-increase-30-percent-to-340m So his analysis is that we are compliant in the 2013-14 season and can therefore go gangbusters now - and take a hit in 14-15 season... I just don't see it - but I'm happy to be proven wrong - as long as it benefits the club
  3. So a guy on twitter says we can afford £150 million Great - does that include/exclude wages? And it's a little fishy, this guy knowing the exact transfer budget, which is a closely guarded secret? I mean you can't keep Roman out of the press talking about budgets, transfer kitty's etc oh hang on....
  4. Ok - my view (and just my view) A) I'm not whining - I'm making a statement I have been around long enough to know nothing is guaranteed - so my point is why spend €65 million if nothing is guaranteed? We seem to be falling into the trap that money spent = success - yes it does to a certain extent but like anything there is a natural saturation point... C) We have invested in a lot of youth and spent considerable sums on a youth Academy that is now bearing fruit - why can't we explore that avenue - yes it's the same risk, but a risk that doesn't cost €65 million - so in essence it's a better risk I can't name any guaranteed player Chelsea's philosophy IMHO is to buy young talent cheap and sell high - to balance the books and try to promote youth - now we have a poor record of this, but I do genuinely believe that is the clubs ambition... Not looking for an argument or anything - that's just my opinion - formed over a number of years and few thousand posts
  5. How is making a comment about the unsustainable transfer prices whining? What you fail to reference in your comment is that our purchases were Pre-FFP... The majority of clubs agreed to FFP (us included) - PSG and City are both currently 'under sanction' of FFP - for them to be able to splash out €65 million is absurd. Yes we wasted the same amount (rough pound to euro conversion) on Torres. But that was out of desperation. There's also no guarantee that a Seria A player will perform in the EPL - remember Uniteds costly mistake on Veron? I just don't see this happening - it's going against everything the club has been trying to achieve. Would I want him here? Maybe Is he as good as everyone is making out? Possibly... Is it a huge gamble - Yes... Am I sick of huge gambles - Yes... Shaw for £30million + Pogba for £55 million and Costa for £35 million = £120 million (less £40 from Luiz) is still a net spend of £80 million... If we can offload some more players it 'might' happen - but that's a lot of money...
  6. Yeah but if all prices have jumped by 20-30% it's going to affect us on every transfer and is not showing signs of stopping FFP is worthless really as City and PSG are pressing ahead regardless.
  7. Trouble is the BALE transfer fucked up the market - suddenly every player is worth 80-90 million - look at Luiz €50 million crazy money... It just needs to stop... Hate to say it but we need a system like the US - capped salary and fixed transfer price...
  8. 535 pages of redundant talk Chill
  9. Hmm almost sounds like a DLP? Shame we don't need one of them - oh wait....
  10. This is a tough one... For Brazil I have seen David put in Terry like performances - he had a few here, but couldn't match that consistency. Calling him the worst defender ever is very harsh, but only to be expected from some people. I have also watched (in person) some great goals and matches - I will always wish this guy well in the future (except against us)... £50 million is amazing business. Lets hope we invest wisely...
  11. Could be another Torres 2.0 - great player, dodgy spell = no guarantee of returning to prior form... He could be a good squad player for that money and it might be worth a punt - but I'm still erring on the side of let him go elsewhere... He chose the Mancs and could have been a legend at Everton...
  12. Are we being linked to Stones? Could be useful if Lukaku stays there and we get him? But I had hoped Azpi to RB and a new LB? Anyway so much bullshit speculation - if we get half of the rumours I will be happy
  13. Maybe West Ham or QPR will pick him up
  14. Let this thread die the same death as his career....
  15. Dude this is Talk Chelsea - not the Daily Mail There's no racist undertone in the PL - I'm proud that as a nation we have come so far, especially compared to other European countries. I don't think such a high percentage of black/brown players would play in the PL if racism was an issue. Ignore people like Garth Crooks - he might look like Yoda, but even Yodas shit has more brains than him - he's just crying conspiracy to make a name for himself...(Terry/Ferdinand situation) I can honestly say I have never seen black/brown players 'NOT' advertised - 99% of advertising is based around strikers and midfielders - I know Drogba got a lot of attention and YaYa is pretty prominent in Sky Sports advertising and in MOTD. If you can prove me wrong - cool, I will gladly apologise.
  16. All the Utd fans at work expect a big bust up at Utd... Rumours flying around VG wants VP as captain! Shrek or Shreik (as my iPad calls him) won't be happy with that!!! The club is in meltdown - ahh love watching it...
  17. I don't mind if the third doesn't happen - as long as we win games...
  18. The Lukaku one is easy - just stick a buy-back clause in there
  19. Post of the YEAR! It's so good hearing this from other sources - the 'sheep' love to slag of our own club and I wonder how many games they actually watched... Did they watch the City game where we went toe-to-toe and floored them! Imagine how many goals we would have scored with a decent striker... The bitterness from Loserpool fans and Rodgers towards us is plain to understand - I GET THAT (and enjoy it) What I will never understand is the attitude by 'our fans' that these 'c*nts' are correct in their analysis... And jumping on the bullshit media bandwagon! It's a sad day when 3rd in the league and C/L semi-finals IS NOT good enough for a part built squad!
  20. It's not Roy's fault though! The shit started whilst Capello was in charge - the FA launching their own investigation! Fair play to Capello he backed JT and saw the witch hunt for what it was... The FA are the only people to blame and they consistently ruin this country - if a gas explosion occurred in their headquarters, I would shed a tear, a tear of joy and hope !
  21. Awesome quote I might use that at work - you should have trademarked it
  22. Daily Fail? Must be true then.... Lampard talks break down as he nips off to the toilet - after drinking 2litres of water...
  23. Great move - and gives us another club to loan to
