  1. I never really hated Spurs and don´t do now with AVB at the helm. I don´t really get the anger of some of the posters here for AVB. Sure, he did bad for us but to be honest, he was ill advised and not the right man for the job of cutting the old wood and all, but seriously. We have to start with Mikel and Ramires in midfield. Mikel can man-mark anyone out of the game on his day, Ramires gives their athletes something to think about. It sounds like a Clichy but we have to take the game to them; can´t have them dictacte play. The only real worry is Defoe who on his day is one of the cleverest and smartest strikers in England, he certainly is my favourite english striker alongside Sturridge. Anyway, I think we´ll have to start with the same line-up from the Arsenal game. Our fullbacks never really had problems with their wingers, as far as I can remember. The strikers always gave us problems. So I reckon for this game it will be Cahill-Luiz (as JT is banned?).
  2. I just hope that one day this whole thing will blow over. The fatalities of the "Ferdinand - Terry - Race Row" - one resigned national manager, leading to a not so good tournament by the implied national side - countless and even more so pointless articles and press releases - one resigned english centre half who was the best of his generation - another spoiled centre half who once was very good as well and now has to face the facts - a sparked up rivalry that for the one of the two outfits never mattered much anyway - a debate about handshakes - one courtcase that ended with what was clear in the first place "it is not an easy, hard to find evidence so we come to "not guilty"" - another hearing by the FA that probably wanted this thing never to happen but found themselves on the backfood once they started it. ...have i missed something ?
  3. Paul Doyle from the Guardian is asking Chelsea to sack JT and Ash: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/oct/08/mark-hughes-brendan-rodgers-chelsea
  4. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/augsburg-3-werder-bremen-1-goals-2/ His direct free kick against Augsburg can be seen here. It is beyond me how that went in, through the mixer, fooling the goalkeeper, not touching any other player. Quality. He is a starter for Bremen these days, definitly a good loan spell so far for him, I´d say.
  5. That is the much needed perspective on professional sports, not just football but in general. Stuff like that is the reasion why I find it hard to call a footballer "shit" or something similar. They are not, they left so many people behind them, sacrificed their private and emotional life to play football. Yes, one might say they earn shatloads of money , and they do, and in fact everyone who goes to a fucking 9 to 5 sacrifices, but for watching and playing football, I think it is important to see stuff like this story. Thanks for posting it, Ryan.
  6. Tiote with an amazing performance just there.
  7. looks like united are bouncing back. we can´t have that ! come on newcastle, steamroll them out of the SportsDirectArena.
  8. I am not quite sure if David understands the full concept and idea behind calling someone a geezer. I love his twitter feed though, they should make a book of this. A sort of "Guide to Happyness" kind of thing.
  9. Carzola signing of the season ? Mata signing of the century.
  10. ANYONE with a half decent stream ? My keep on dying after 5 secs
  11. Gave us a good game. Impressive display by the Danes, should have had an equaliser but thanks to Super Cech they didn´t. A tricky away dispatched in the end. Let´s have a laugh at Bayern (yes, yes hipocricy, but gotta down a few drinks now with my Bayern-mate) My appreciation for Mata knows no bounds. He was our key player - again. Just love the little man. He is class. End. Top of the group, top of the league. Boom, who would´ve thought that ?
  12. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/01/gianfranco-zola-interview-exhausted-passion-watford Good read about Francos time so far at Watford and his days at West Ham. They treated him like shit over there. What a man to come back to football after this and take on a new challenge. I can´t believe that West Ham told him he was to humble. That is what you get in Zola in the first place.
  13. Ramires against Barca: Watching it with my girlfriend (who gave me a footie-vaucher for "one game" to christmas (we watched the whole semi final and CL final as well) who was equally as emotional worked up about the match as was I. took my shirt off, waved over my head like a celebrating goal scorer...felt a bit weird after she just said "come on dude, the shirt ?". Drogbas goal against Bayern: I did nothing. Because I knew. Call me silly, but after the Napoli game I had the feeling that we would win it no matter what. Drogbas goal was too much to take for me though, I couldn´t react properly. When we finally won it I just broke into tears. Not a weird celebration but it´s as honest as it gets, i think. Then there have been a lot of awkard slightly obnoxious celebrations in the faces of everyone else in the pub where i usually watch the "big games". Stopped those though, got me into trouble too often.
  14. Wonder why there is no topic for him. Truely one player that should be mentioned within this forum section. Probably one of the players with a more complicated relationship with the fans, but certainly a very good player for us, well most of the times. An instinctive finisher, selfless as well, worked wonders together with Drogba upfront. This whole story with him and Alex being sent to the reserves feels like ages ago. In my opinion not a good way to treat players. Anyway, here is a little reminder of what he did for us. Was instrumental keeping us in any sort of position in the Scolari/Hiddink conundrum of a season: sorry, just relised there is a topic for him. my bad, mods, delet this then.
  15. Hope Laudrup can turn things around at Swansea, although it doesn´t look good in the moment. What a strange start to the season for them.
  16. Lukaku on for West Brom. Played every game so far for them innit.
  17. we just beat arsenal away and still people complain. they did it as a team ffs. get out and play football, and you will know how it works after playing just twice.
  18. After Pirlo he took out Arteta of the game yesterday. He pushing the deeplaying playermakers up the pitch which is a feature i didn´t see in him so far watching him at the Olympics and in his first appearances for us. And he can be a bully, very good defensively, and he still creates chances and plots moves. Good guy. Looks like a schoolboy but surely don´t take him on !!
  19. I think Rodgers will stay this season if they get out of the relegation zone obviously. I think he is the right for that sad bunch. Hughton is walking on thin ice, shame though, did well with Newcastle. AVB is doing an AVB so far, getting impressive results when no one expects them to come, tbh it was either him or RDM to beat United this season and exploit their weaknesses. Swamp the midfield, overrun their "holding midfielder" put pressure on some mediocre and past it centrebacks and there you go. I am suprised that it took so long that a team actually get a result against this weak United side. Fulham nearly did it before, Everton did it at home, Liverpool were unlucky to not win against, they played so much better. I actually think this has something to do with AVBs mentality and what he drills his into the Spurs players. He is a maniac. I always liked him and don´t hold a grudge against him as a lot of people do on here. It was a good move to sack him, but i felt for him because obviously he got stabbed in the back and just wasn´t up for it to admit that he tried something good with the 'wrong' players. Mancini: You never know, but the CL could be the trap for him. Sure, they are in the toughest group (on paper) but they don´t have a bad squad either to challenge Madrid and Dortmund (they have Rodwell and Sinclair!). I think they have to improve drasticially in the League as well. A scrappy win against Fulham yesterday, outplayed at home against Arsenal...you knever know. I don´t know who they want to get in if Mancini gets the sack. Hughes: HAS TO STAY! Does a fantastic job at QPR. He defenitly brings them back up the season after next.
  20. Brilliant, the biggest twat alive is coming on, always good for a scrappy equaliser.
  21. Not sure how much this weird game and the turn of events is down to AVB anymore...
  22. The cunts empire strikes back. He were go. Edit: read that whatever way you want. Wow.
