First off, not sure I called the whole forum idiots? Referring to the people that label Torres dismal, and I think that is pretty evident btw but not to worry. I don't need to download the game pal I was sitting in the stadium with a brilliant view, search my posts, this isn't something that I preach in the last few weeks, this has been since Torres came to Chelsea. Yes we spent A LOT of money buying attacking options but, well I can only assume you watched todays game, it doesn't help when those players do not use their pace and trickey but instead come inside, exchange 2-3 4-5 yard balls with eachother and eventually lose the ball. Failing that it will go into Torres' feet and he will lose it as he has his back to goal. So don't tell me to go watch a game and pay attention to his movement because I do, Christ, every bloody game I do whether its on the TV, stream or sitting in the stadium. Torres' movement often leads to other team members being given space and yes he does still make those runs, WATCH TODAYS GAME! Not all idiots but from what I'm reading quite a few, sorry to break it to you and its not like I enjoy 'attacking' other Chelsea fans but my God please just pay attention to what is happening and HOW the team plays. Anyway, each to their own and I won't criticise him for missing ONE clear cut chance.

Made a difference today, should have come on earlier.

Knew I'd get home and read exactly what the idiots on Talk Sport were saying (Its a british radio station for those that dont know) Watching Torres today (at the game btw), what the hell do you mean cannot complain about service? I'm glad that most people if not 99% of the people around me in the matthew harding lower stand do NOT share the same deluded opinion that some of you keyboard warriors have. Mata put him through and he missed ONE chance, ONE chance, if he missed four of those then fair enough but thats not the case is it? What our problem today was that simply too many cooks in the kitchen i.e. too many people coming into the middle, not enough movement ahead of the ball, zero forward runs. When Torres receives the ball 95% of the time it is to his feet, WITH HIS BACK TO GOAL when he is a player over the years to want that pass he can run onto or it is on the wing because he is frustrated at receiving the ball to feet at the edge of the box with 2 players around him, I don't know many players that can do much in that situation, oh, except perhaps Messi.. Yeah that little guy. When he misses 3-4 chances a game like Suarez (just an example) THEN and only then will I be able to criticise him. You'd do well to stay off the media bandwagon. Idiots.

I'd be happy if he didn't score that second goal, he is just the type of player I want in the team, works hard, tactically was superb barring a few misplaced passes but its expected the kid is 21. THAT goal though, just wow, not even the shot, that touch to turn away from two players was just.. world class. Just think if Ronaldo or Messi had scored that last night, think of the backpage spread on the newspaper and Souness then! Wouldn't start him against Stoke though, too rough and tumble!
-
What game were you watching? Torres put a shift in yesterday, so much so that I wish he didn't make that much effort coming deep for the ball etc. (Why? because with the way we are playing at the moment he must get impatient and frustrated) so yeah he's involved in the build up but then we cross the ball and where is our striker? Running into the box instead of being inside it for the cross, it happened so many times last night. Crosses with no striker in the box because he'd got impatient and come deep for the ball. Credit to Juve, they had 3-4 players around him everytime he had the ball.

Not expecting much tonight, Italian team after all, can't see it being a goal fest although I'm slightly worried about Terry up against Vucinic, exactly the type of striker Terry doesn't do well against. Hoping for Ramires to sit on the bench tonight I really am. Would like to see some pace to our team tonight to really get at their defence Please let Lampard realise he is expected to play in a defensive minded role, PLEASE.

Oh my GOD! One bad performance when he has had a good season and we all jump on the bandwagon and you think its a coincidence that the papers now release a story about Liverpool wanting him back last FEB!? No, use your brains, they waited until something happened to increase the pressure. I agree he shouldn't have acted like that but at least he cares and wanted to stay on the pitch. Again, he shouldn't have done it but still, have some faith, there weren't many people who had a good game against QPR ffs.
-
Love how people think our problems are Torres btw, when it is actually Lampard leaving his new found DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER POSITION! That is right.. Defensive midfielder. That means Frank, you DO NOT, stand on the edge of the box. So many times we lose the ball up field and Mikel is left 2 v1 in the middle because Frank is either up the field or jogging back into position. We have creative players now to do this, Frank does not need to be the link anymore. Wish he'd realise this before Wednesday night or we're going to get screwed big time, Napoli style.

Not read any other pages btw so just expressing my annoyance at the fact that why is it that clubs always take the p!ss out of us with transfer fees. One example that really got my back up was the Moutinho (sp?) deal, £22m however when we wanted him the price was a lot higher than that. Constantly annoys me when I see players that we were linked with go for significantly less and also our players go for pittances. Exmaple: if we wanted Sturridge from Liverpool on deadline day, what is the price we would be quoted? Would it be £15m? I doubt it.
-
Prefer to have him here. I assume Ghana qualified for the African cup? If so that's a good opportunity for him to get a run of games together for the latter part of the season. Don't think people realise just what our schedule and total games are this season, huuuuuuuge
-
Daily mail reporting Wenger has asked about Essien on loan
-
I would have preferred to see Sturridge and Oscar come on but it eludes to di matteos interview after the reading game where he said we need to learn how to sit back and close out games, be solid rather than lose focus. I feel today was a perfect example of just that.
-
I worry about Lampard in this game, he left Mikel with bad situations against Wigan and Reading. Often it was Hazard/Mata coming back to pick up the ball from Mikel/our CBs as Lampard was still either up field or making his way back. Lamps has to learn and adapt to his NEW role and realise that he is getting on a bit. Newcastle are extremely mobile in the centre of the park
-
Yes Moses isn't the big marquee name signing but as above, glad we got him instead of Hulk tbh, EPL proven, small wages, home grown, good head on him, no attitude. Instead of an astronomical transfer fee, huge wages, not EPL proven, hit us in FFP
-
What annoys me about Sturridge being linked elsewhere, which I don't mind tbh, as he is notoriously selfish and clearly has a bad attitude, is that if he were a city or Liverpool player doing what's he's done for us - scored goals from the wing and had a successful spell at Bolton etc we would literally be quoted like 25-30m as he's English and people take the piss out of us for fees anyway. If we did sell him he'd probably go for 15m which is frustrating to think of..
-
We're spoilt because we've gone without for so long! 04/05 05/06 seasons coming back!
-
Ergh sick of wenger coming out after every signing made by a rival who shows promise 'yeah basically scouted him when he came out the womb, before anyone else, didn't sign him though so yknow....' just shut up arsene! Plenty of clubs looked at him, hell we we're first linked when he was 16! Brian McDermott at reading saw him before that.. Sorry guys just can't stand these stories from wenger when I open my paper in the morning

Lordy, why is it that every other dm or 'pivot' able player is suddenly much better than mikel. He takes a lot of stick but in reality isn't a natural dm at all, those who might remember he started his career and won accolades as a Cm/more of a am player. One example is tiote, anyone who has watched him surely must agree his distribution is very very sub par whereas mikel is excelling at this the backed of last season and this, what people see about tiote is his Essen like tenacity and they love that, it's wht the epl loves however when you actually sit and analyse it, is he really that good? No. Am I saying that mikel is amazing? No but I love the above analogy of its IT support, nobody moans if it's working ok but often he is made a scapegoat, let's also remember that mikel plays with lampard who I saw against reading leave mikel exposed countless times! Rambling now and I'm typing this on an iPad, notoriously difficult so excuse any grammar etc
-
Is anyone else quite excited by the fact that all of our wingers or creative players we have signed have the ability to be effective from both wings, and what I mean is that they can inter change during the match. Moses done this to good effect against us and also last season. Hazard and Mata interchange A LOT - so I feel that with Hazard/Mata/Moses on the pitch interchanging constantly.. Just wow, the kid has the ability there for sure and I'm also looking forward to what he can learn from hazard/mata/torres (torres about movement more tbh)
-
Delighted.
-
Eh? You've watched this season, right? I agree it was a concern previously but not now, he seems to have gathered back what pace we thought he had lost.. see yesterday where he blasted past 3 players and unfortunately missed the resulting shot he fashioned for himself. I think something else to think is that Liverpool played completely different to what we play now and have done previously when we bought Torres. The team was centered around his pace and over the top/through balls. Unfortunately some of our players lack the football intelligence/ability to do this, sorry to oust Lampard/Mikel as I think they've played well. At least we now have Hazard + Mata to spot his runs and they did a pretty good job, especially Hazard last night of passing to him in the right areas and spotting his exceptional movements off the ball.
-
Didn't read any of the earlier posts tbh. Very confident in Torres this season - playing with other players that are football intelligent - now he has a few players trying to pick him out and spot his runs rather than just Juan Mata. I like what I see so far.
-
Sorry but everyone can watch compilations of goals and say "OMFGGG LOOK AT HIZ AWAREZNESS" then bolt out "Torres wouldn't have done that", its the same as me linking a compilation of Torres here at Liverpool, it is infact much more impressive to watch than Cavani's. Regardless, strikers need service/other players to make the space/correct movement, Torres is getting that now and he's getting used to having people trying to pick him out rather than just Mata.

What age did Drogba show promise? It was my understanding that he was a late bloomer!
