Ergh sick of wenger coming out after every signing made by a rival who shows promise 'yeah basically scouted him when he came out the womb, before anyone else, didn't sign him though so yknow....' just shut up arsene! Plenty of clubs looked at him, hell we we're first linked when he was 16! Brian McDermott at reading saw him before that.. Sorry guys just can't stand these stories from wenger when I open my paper in the morning

Lordy, why is it that every other dm or 'pivot' able player is suddenly much better than mikel. He takes a lot of stick but in reality isn't a natural dm at all, those who might remember he started his career and won accolades as a Cm/more of a am player. One example is tiote, anyone who has watched him surely must agree his distribution is very very sub par whereas mikel is excelling at this the backed of last season and this, what people see about tiote is his Essen like tenacity and they love that, it's wht the epl loves however when you actually sit and analyse it, is he really that good? No. Am I saying that mikel is amazing? No but I love the above analogy of its IT support, nobody moans if it's working ok but often he is made a scapegoat, let's also remember that mikel plays with lampard who I saw against reading leave mikel exposed countless times! Rambling now and I'm typing this on an iPad, notoriously difficult so excuse any grammar etc

Is anyone else quite excited by the fact that all of our wingers or creative players we have signed have the ability to be effective from both wings, and what I mean is that they can inter change during the match. Moses done this to good effect against us and also last season. Hazard and Mata interchange A LOT - so I feel that with Hazard/Mata/Moses on the pitch interchanging constantly.. Just wow, the kid has the ability there for sure and I'm also looking forward to what he can learn from hazard/mata/torres (torres about movement more tbh)
-
Delighted.
-
Eh? You've watched this season, right? I agree it was a concern previously but not now, he seems to have gathered back what pace we thought he had lost.. see yesterday where he blasted past 3 players and unfortunately missed the resulting shot he fashioned for himself. I think something else to think is that Liverpool played completely different to what we play now and have done previously when we bought Torres. The team was centered around his pace and over the top/through balls. Unfortunately some of our players lack the football intelligence/ability to do this, sorry to oust Lampard/Mikel as I think they've played well. At least we now have Hazard + Mata to spot his runs and they did a pretty good job, especially Hazard last night of passing to him in the right areas and spotting his exceptional movements off the ball.
-
Didn't read any of the earlier posts tbh. Very confident in Torres this season - playing with other players that are football intelligent - now he has a few players trying to pick him out and spot his runs rather than just Juan Mata. I like what I see so far.
-
Sorry but everyone can watch compilations of goals and say "OMFGGG LOOK AT HIZ AWAREZNESS" then bolt out "Torres wouldn't have done that", its the same as me linking a compilation of Torres here at Liverpool, it is infact much more impressive to watch than Cavani's. Regardless, strikers need service/other players to make the space/correct movement, Torres is getting that now and he's getting used to having people trying to pick him out rather than just Mata.

What age did Drogba show promise? It was my understanding that he was a late bloomer!
-
Doubtful however it does mean more money for him until he decides to leave. Still living off those Milan games for me albeit for a few games last season, just not consistent enough to warrant the price tag papers/Spurs are bantering around.
-
Not sure why everyone is so fixated with the ready-made players for us, usually when we sign them from a club they've 'made it' at, we play them out of position or don't massage their ego's in the right way. What happened to the days of 04/05 when we signed young hungry players! Yes they were known but question marks were asked of some of them, did they work out? Yup! did some not work out? They did not however the majority did and everyone did their best to play their part which is why I think Moses would be a better buy than most we're being linked with.

Fancy going to Chelsea? Look no further!

I will double check but I know there is definitely one ticket however I'll ask around as there are a good bunch that sit around my mums season ticket seat so if anyone cannot make it they will offer the ticket in that group first so I will ask. -

I guess I can use the season ticket to get the cup tickets for you? Not sure how that side works in all honesty but happy to look into any of it for anyone that has the opportunity to go, I don't want the ticket to go to waste when I can't attend :-) -
Hi all Unfortunately the season ticket that my mum has (Matthew Harding Lower, Row E, Seat 13 - Inbetween the corner flag and the goal, great seat surrounded by great people) is going to be sparingly used this coming season as she has got a few bits going on and I won't be able to make every game, sometimes there will be more than one ticket going but for now just this one so let me know if you'd like it for a game, we can sort it out the details and such!

Really couldn't care if we get him or not, at this point, I'd just like all our transfers done and dusted by pre-season so the new player has a few weeks with all the squad to get some synergy/friendships going rather than leaving our business until really late or until when the season starts as per usual leaving zero time for the new player to get embedded in the team before the papers start slamming their sub-par performances for no good reason Thought we'd turned a corner when we got Eden/Marko business done early doors, sigh.
-
Seriously this is just not worth it, yes good player but just bid 30 million euros and take it or leave it Porto, they have stuffed us for transfer fees over the last 7 years including manager fees! No one else will pay what they are asking for Hulk, NO ONE.
-
Can't see the love for Josh myself, nothing special although I don't like the fact that we constantly poach other teams youth but what can we do if our home grown are not good enough..!
-
There's a source in the top general xfer thread

Levy would still sell to United for less just to make a point however I don't think Luka wouldn't go to Utd as they have champs league etc. I still think he'd prefer to come to us - said he wants to stay in London if he moves. Although if Levy has said to him he would never sell him to Chelsea............! Which wouldn't surprise me at all
-
Dembele confirmed he's happy at fulham and has no intention of leaving 1 year left on his contract btw.
-
yes, if you ask me, and if anyone has watched the bundesliga season just gone! I wouldn't be disappointed if we made this signing, for a good fee though - not over inflated. Put it this way, everyone knows Goetze, or has seen Arsenal linked etc. and they didn't miss Goetze too much when Jakub played! Good signing for Utd too btw (Lewy, striker) I put it in the general transfer talk thread. Poor Dortmund!!
-
Much prefer Martinez as a buy rather than disco stew

Quite frustrating when I see people pointing out goal stats/games etc. as lets just all agree that Napoli are considerably better at creating chances for their strikers, where as we are not, our strikers a lot of the time have to fashion chances for themselves, which is why we are investing in the creative type of player now instead of the bulldoze method we've previously used. I'd love to see Cavani on the scraps that Torres has been working on pop in with 66 goals in 94 games, it simply wouldn't happen. If Torres were missing 1 on 1 chances on a consistent basis after we've made the chance by a through ball or something, again on a consistent basis then fine however its just not the case. Torres showed at the last third of the season that the work rate has now been added to his game, chasing CBs, coming back into midfield to win a ball for the team, he had a crazy amount of assists for the season as well let alone when he started to play well. I'm very confident that next season with Sturridge as CF back up Torres will come good.

Not very popular since he announced he's going to Chelsea, unfollowed... ;-)

I'm glad that we've got prospects in and around the place in the reserves/out on loan etc. but I think far too many people get ahead of themselves for Josh, he hasn't shown hardly anything in terms of ability to step up, has he had the chance? Yes he's had a few chances and he has not stepped up. Loan to Swansea didn't go to plan but it makes me think that Brendan would have given him more chances if he was capable, especially at home but the matches he did play in he wasn't very good at all. Perhaps this is a snipe, but perhaps less time going out with Sinclair and his corrie mrs and more time spent on the training ground.. See Ryan Bertrand.
