Being average in an average team isn't the most worrying thing for me here. The reason why I was skeptical about wanting him here with the money involved was because of his horrendous injury record. There's no doubting he's talented, but every year since he's been in the spotlight he's been plagued with tweeks and pulled muscles.

Tbh I agree with lionsden that Kane has superior technique and is able to do a solid job linking play consistently. But I think he's exaggerated Costa's weaknesses. I don't think that Costa is awful outside the 18 yard box as he puts it, but his consistency is the problem. He reminds me a lot like Drogba in the sense that one game he can hold everything up and be a fantastic outlet, but then another game he can be an absolute donkey with his first touch, passing, or just generally keeping the ball. When you talk about finishing, I prefer to talk about it as two aspects. For me Costa is probably the most deadliest forward at scoring on instinct, where he just has to react, quick movements with minimal touches and finish. When it comes to finishing when he has time to think about what he wants to do, I'd say he's not that great. I like both players and I don't think it's a joke of a question like some are making it out to be in here (based on this current season), but I'd rather have Costa.

No. One of Thibauts main strengths is commanding his box. Aston Villa play direct & he was uncharacteristically bad in that area. Commanding his box is one of Cech's biggest weaknesses & last season PSG exploited that (and other teams did the same).

I pointed out Cech's match because we are playing PSG again.. they were very direct when they were in the final third & one of Cech's weaknesses is commanding his box. Pretty simple really. Edit: Looks like Thibaut starts

Was one game. He is generally excellent commanding his area. I could pick out Sporting Lisbon away and conclude that Costa is a terrible finisher

He will never be fully appreciated for doing the simplest things (which for some players can be the hardest): just being reliable in possession, and having the ability to keep the ball under pressure. He plays a great supporting role for the better players like Hazard. A bit like Nasri does at City, struggles when he needs to take authority and make the difference, but his ball retention and ability to link play will be undervalued because of that.

Infuriates me more when in possession than most of our players. His touch and passing can either be good or truly abysmal - there is no inbetween.

Think the signing will open up more opportunities as the no.10 tbh.
