Is it wrong that I'm actually glad he's banned for 3 matches? Not 1, but 3... meaning Emerson can get a run of games finally, and what he showed was better than what Alonso has been showing in 2018.

Promising signs, and he can cross! Got an assist for Moses' goal too. It would be a travesty if Alonso just walked back in when he gets back.

Thought Bakayoko did okay today, at least an improvement on what he has been so far. Didn't cock up and had actually decent ball control at times. Overall a much better and more gritty team performance with some very good individual showings, notably Emerson, Moses and Cahill - all three very good and solid. Pedro I also thought did very well, linked things up in 1st half and had that full pitch run, but faded toward the end as he got more tired. Kante, class as always, ran the midfield and the way he always gives the right vertical pass to the right man and the pace with which he drives forward is great to see.

Hazard and Willian dropped(rested?). Bakayoko making a comeback which makes me nervous. Midfield as always looks weak, hopefully Kante carries us. Will be interesting to see how Giroud and Morata line up, 2 up front or Morata dropping deep? All eyes on Emerson though, this is his moment, the most exciting part of this line-up. Bench looks strong as well having many (quality) options. Oh and Cahill in the middle might be giving me nervous breakdowns, but hopefully has one of his rare commanding games. If he could stay injury free then I wouldn't mind him replacing one of our shitty midfielders. I haven't seen him play in Holland, don't know what he's about at all, but if the club is not willing to spend big on high class midfielders, then it would not be hard for him to be an upgrade on anybody and it would cost us nothing. Sell Fab and Baka, use the money to buy a high quality partner to Kante. Then bring Van Ginkel back and have him and Drinksy be backups. Why not? Though I'm afraid the club will put too much faith in Baka and force the coaches to keep him because of his age and what he costed (need to up the resale value before actually selling, atm he's worth nothing).

Giroud was allowed to score those goals because we were attacking their box and creating chances. In 15/16 we wouldn't have been able to penetrate in any way even, 0 shots on goal would have been another day in the office.

Nah mate I'm just kidding. You have every right to have that opinion, but in my mind personally 15/16 was far worse. At least we never were 1 point above relegation at any time this season and it was clear we were out of CL by October that season. This season we started dropping from 2nd place to 5th (for now), in 15/16 we had to climb from 17th(!!!!) to 10th... that was just unbelievable for defending champions. For me, those seasons are comparable only in the slightest, 15/16 was an absolute disaster in terms of results, table positions and performances were also much worse.

Selling him to those bastards shouldn't even be discussed, especially with the form Willian has displayed proving that under the right circumstances he can be deadly.
