  1. Thanks. Improvement in our playing style under current coach has been unexpected. I was also surprised to see how you were playing even though you had nothing to win, while Serbia was in a live or die situation. You played like winners throughout. Before the game I read some worrying things like in that area match fixing is common, that Slovenia has quite a few players with Serbian roots and stuff like that. I was afraid that you would deliberately or subconsciously take foot off the gas, but gladly our worries were proved wrong
  2. Thanks @eldo: yeah but Vidic's shot in general was piss poor
  3. Well, today was about luck more than anything... Slovenia's goal was lucky but amazing, on another day with a shitty ref you would have got 2 penalties instead of 1, you missed a few sitters. The only shitty choice I saw was Vidic taking the penalty, what the fuck?! Not that I'm complaining though I think it was a brilliant decision... for us. But yeah overall your players looked passive too often and unmotivated.
  4. HISTORY IS MADE!! ESTONIA THROUGH TO THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! SLOVENIA, ESTONIA LOVES YOU :D
  5. If Slovenia draw or win today against Serbia, then Estonia will make history and advance to Euro play-offs GO SLOVENIA!
  6. He won't go this or next season if he has any ambition left in him. A player of his quality deserves to win the CL with us. And afaik he has some business(es) in Britain? Like the bar with Jay-Z etc. I can't see him moving to Russia. Eto'o is fairly young also, but he has won everything already several times and he's just a money greedy shmuck, probably lacking motivation and decided to cash in.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if Germany and Belgium became the biggest competitions against Spain, looking at the players coming through
  8. I could handle the change of the stadium's name... but the name of the club? That would be too much, and it's already too big of a brand name... Changing it would be a big blow commercially for the businessmen aswell.
  9. Only a Kalou thread could turn into a "is Nas genius or not" debate... sigh
  10. I'll choose them purely on their ability as players Arsenal: No one really, maybe Vermaelen, but not a big fan of his Man City: Silva, Agüero, Johnson, Hart, Tevez Liverpool: Gerrard, Suarez, Kuyt Man United: Young, Nani, Rooney, Giggs, Jones, Vidic, Evra If I'd activated my cock'o'meter, I wouldn't have named Tevez, Gerrard, Vidic, Evra, Suarez, Rooney and Giggs.
  11. Why not scout talented wingers who we lack? We always focus on defensive players, and young central defenders we have...
  12. People need to stay polite... the meaning of politeness is long gone in the mind of, how do you call them... chavs? Be critical but stay polite... fuck me how stupid some people are.
  13. I'm not a fan of zonal marking, hopefully it will be an efficient mix of man-to-man and zonal, because biggest threats need to be marked tightly all the time.
  14. Watching the pictures, the zone where Terry was in and the backpost zone in general was lightly marked. I'm surprised to see not one, but two players stayed unmarked and this was the zone from where Boyata finally scored... with him included, there were 3 unmarked players, while Ramires, Lampard, Meireles, Drogba and Bosingwa didn't seem to be marking anyone in particular, while Luiz and Terry obviously were. It does seem like a rather poor mix between man and zonal marking, at least in that situation.
  15. I will never understand why footballers and managers grab eachother's asses, Džeko especially looked as if he was searching for Lahm's butthole
  16. Are you being serious? Does the "old guard" include Malouda, Kalou and Anelka? Starting line-up against Bolton included Meireles, Mata, Sturridge and Luiz who you can hardly call "old guard". Only one missing was Torres, and there is nothing to suggest we wouldn't have scored more or less with him playing against a poor Bolton side. Has this speculation risen only because Drogba played his first 90 minutes and suddenly we had a comfortable win? We had a comfortable win because their goalkeeper sucked and because of Sturridge's and Mata's brilliance (2 assists, 2 goals, key pass and fantastic movement by Mata to Sturridge, when Danny found Lamps... take them away, replace them with the "old guard benchies" and Lampard wouldn't have scored one goal and 2 goals would go missing). You could speculate over Torres, but why name Mata and Meireles? They've been fantastic so far and played a chunk against Bolton, and Torres has looked sharper than Drogba did. Obsolete is too strong of a word, how dare anyone call Mata obsolete, the most creative player in the team so far.
  17. Bridge of Stamford, Stamford Stadium/Arena, Stamford Lane, Chelsea Stadium/Arena, The Roman Arena (era ) would we be even allowed to use the name 'Stamford' or the word 'Bridge'?
  18. Luiz is a very good defender and an accomplished one may I add. I don't understand why people expect perfection all the time from him, hardly any defender is better at covering than him I feel... and he still feels like a new signing to me, in a season, or maybe this season already, he will be a starter. He reminds me of Carvalho, but has more potential imo. He is probably the most exciting player to watch play in defence, I mean did you see when he overlapped he did oversteps? Or his overhead cross against ManU if I remember correctly. Last time I remember a Chelsea player showboating was Ferreira against Kitchee I have never thought he'd be more suited as a full-back or a defensive mid. Terry makes mistakes and gets caught quite often yet it hardly gets noticed, and he used to be a midfielder and a full-back... he started playing as a defender by chance. Luiz was a mid also and he was finally suited in CB and it is the position in which people call him world class. Now cut it out, it's getting old. People seem to rate Cahill more as a defender, which is a joke imo.
  19. I actually wanted Danny to be a bit selfish because I really wanted him and Lampsy to get hattricks a piece, but his shots were bad unluckily. When he got the pass from Drogs in the box I already shouted "GOAL!", but it skipped wide... those kind of mistakes serve well for a youngster, he gets the chance to learn from it The ability is there, experience will come.
  20. Yeah, Lampard said it himself he never starts a season with all guns blazing. He may have 10 games without scoring and it all looks hopeless, then he gets the odd goal and things go on from there. If he gets 12-15 this season, it will be an amazing achievement taking into consideration that he will definitely sit out more games than before. But if he gets 20+ again, then I will have no hesitation calling him superhuman... I already consider him the best Chelsea midfielder of all time and one of the best, if not the best EPL mid of all time, and 20+ again would set the standard hopelessly high for others and I hope he does it.
  21. I overlooked Lampard last time over Čech, this time with 3 goals and an excellent performance I have no choice but to vote for him.
  22. If you ever expect Lampard to score anywhere, it's the Reebok Stadium He absolutely loves tormenting that place, the 2nd home of Chelsea.
  23. And it was his 5th hattrick if I'm not mistaken. How many midfielders have actually done that in EPL?
