His dribbling ability is meaningless when he loses possession around 40 times in 3 different CL games. DD, JT and Lamps all flirted with various clubs (Inter, Barcelona, Man City from the top of my head) to leverage their contracts. I don't think JT ever seriously considered leaving, but DD and Lamps have admitted that at a certain point they were considering the offers (Drogba at the beginning of his Chels career and after Jose left, Lampard after Jose left). Lampard also with that City fiasco. So even our most die-hard legends at one point weren't as loyal as we think, but because they eventually stayed and went on to cement their legendary status further, we ignore that fact.

But the options from our current squad you mentioned... Not good enough for PL, CL and cups. Ok I'll explain. BlueLyon proposed that we need an additonal midfielder while keeping Matic, you rejected the idea by saying that this very same squad can go on to do great things beyond this season. In 2015 we won the league, the following summer we didn't strengthen except for Pedro. Finished 10th. Not to mention seasons further in the past where we refused to upgrade our squad that used to win things, but struggled in later years. Mourinho or somebody said that if you don't bring in new blood every year, the squad becomes stale and too comfortable. I didn't say anything about kicking Matic out, neither did BlueLyon. You didn't answer. If we keep this same squad next year, who replaces Matic when he is out for months? We've been lucky this year, he has always been available, but we have seen what happens when you take away one or two key players from our starting XI.

They are the furthest thing away from a sweeper, in fact they are anti-sweepers because they proactively close down their zones. If anyone, then Luiz is playing the sweeper role as the deepest of the lot.

He has always been sloppy even during his purple patches. His acceleration is bad and his touch often heavy, but when he plays smartly, participates in build-up and scores I have no complaints. Yesterday was the Diego I want to see week in week out. And he scored with his head! Super well done.

Selling Ake would be stupid imo, or sending on loan for that matter. We need a larger squad next season, we will also lose some HG players (JT, Bego at least). Ake is a player who can play in different positions and he has the quality to be a rotational option. Unless he wants to go, sending him away voluntarily would be a dumb move from the club imo.

What about the home support in this game? Watching on a stream it sounded LOUD. Antonio's plea about needing the 12th man seems to have hit home.
