  1. Look at the fight he showed after we went down to 10 men. He may have quiet periods in the season, but when he's "on it", he's utterly unplayable. Took his goal very well (his first touch was Drogba-esque), and only a super block by Ospina denied him a second. One of very few players who can hold their head up high after that shambles at Wembley yesterday.
  2. What to say after that? Gutted. We were very, very poor in the first half. We certainly made Arsenal look good, though credit has to be given - they were truly excellent. They were the best team on the day and I can therefore have few complaints. The nature of their first goal is very frustrating, of course, but we cannot use that as an excuse. They could - and should - have scored about 6 or 7 yesterday. That's how bad we were. There was no tactical masterclass by Wenger - their players simply wanted it more. Plain and simple. A lot of Chelsea players were very poor yesterday. The only one who can be excused is Courtois (one or two super saves to keep the score moderately respectable). Pedro gave absolutely everything, too. Every other player seemingly forgot how to defend or pass the football yesterday. People will look at Cahill's "epic" goal-line clearances and think he had a good game, but positionally he was absolutely annihilated by Arsenal's front three. We can't cope with pace at all! Moses deserved his yellow for diving, and I hope that decision serves as a reminder to players to stay on their feet. His decision to take a tumble cost us the game, in my opinion. Got to say we played so damned well with 10 men, we can at least take some solace from that fact! Costa woke up after the sending off and looked unplayable, very unlucky not to equalise for a second time. We didn't play as horrifically bad as people made out, but we weren't anywhere near good enough to compete at Arsenal's level yesterday. Xhaka and Ramsey dominated the midfield, and Ozil and Alexis simply toyed with us defensively. I've never seen us look so incapable of defending this season as we did yesterday. But, like I say, Arsenal were simply terrific. Credit to them. We'll get them back in the Community Shield! This does nothing to undermine our achievements this season. In the summer, I said I'd be happy with a cup run and a top three finish. We reached a cup final, and broke all kinds of records en route to sauntering to the Premier League title. Absolutely delighted with us in Conte's first season, and we'll only get better. This defeat could work in our favour, because it'll indicate to the board that we do most certainly need heavy investment in the summer. They may have had decent seasons this time round, but Alonso, Cahill, Matic and Moses shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI next season.
  3. Player. Of. The. Season. If you disagree, you're wrong, sorry
  4. Pedro vs Everton, simply for the sheer significance of it.
  5. This season, because nobody expected it. The previous four were of course satisfying, but we were red-hot favourites from the first whistle. This year we've proved so many people wrong - myself included. After the 3-0 at Arsenal, I thought we'd struggle for top four and Conte would have gotten sacked by now. How happy I am to be proved wrong.
  6. Have you ever been to Stoke? Can't blame him.
  7. They're going on about their 25-game unbeaten streak (of which 12/13 were draws, I think?) as if they've repeated the Gooner 49ers.
  8. Ah, West Bayern Atletico, the team that plays like Brazil 1970 against us.
  9. Okay, thanks for informing me about which things I do and do not know.
  10. Just seen this post on a Yids forum, and totally agree with it:
  11. He was great in the final 15 minutes - when Everton had thrown in the towel.
  12. Got to give Spurs a lot of credit. You'd have though they'd have given up by now.
  13. Wow, what a battling performance yesterday. Not at his absolute best, but signs his confidence is returning rapidly. Nothing outstanding, but a far cry from his recent form. That turn on Williams on the half-way line was reminiscent of the turn against Otamendi (I think?) when we did City 3-1 at the Emptyhad. Unfortunate with his one big chance, the ball just wouldn't come down quickly enough, but his hold-up play put Lukaku to shame. His involvement in Willian's goal was superb, what fantastic off-the-ball movement and a slick little inside pass to get Fabregas through into the box. Returning to form at the right time!
  14. I'm still feeling really pessimistic at this stage! I just recall the 2013/14 season - if you looked at our home games remaining by this stage of the season, Norwich and Sunderland, you'd have banked on us picking up six points in those games. Boro were absolutely excellent yesterday against City. I suppose one thing in our favour is that they have to win, perhaps even more so than ourselves, which might invite them to attack a little more. A draw doesn't really do them much good, so I can't envisage them parking the bus completely. Sure, they'll be defensive and look to exploit us on counters and capitalise on set pieces, but this will be a tougher game than most people anticipate. Sunderland might already be relegated but they'll be looking to play for pride and finish the season on a high. The one team I don't have any anxieties about whatsoever is Watford - their season has been over for weeks; they literally have nothing left to play for and might as well all be on the beach. Plus, they have a horrible record on Monday nights, so we have an advantage there, too. West Brom away could be tricky, but I don't think they can now mathematically finish any higher than they are currently placed, so I'm hoping a few of their players are mentally already on their holidays! The bottom line is this: all four games are very win-able, however, I am certain we will drop points at some stage. That notwithstanding, nine points mathematically seals us the title regardless of how well Spurs play between now and the end of the season. I would be massively impressed if they went on to win all of their remaining games, since only one of them is at home (and that being against United, who have an incredible record at White Hart Lane), but with them playing before us the next couple of games, they have the advantage to really crank up the pressure. For certain, we are huge favourites, as on paper we should steam-roller each of the four teams we're up against. The only issue is shit teams tend to channel their inner Atletico Madrid against us and make it almost impossible for us to play our style of football. I'm predicting four tense, tight, and incredibly nervy games between now and the end of the season.
  15. Great goal, but still bang average.
  16. What a man. The ultimate professional. Doesn't moan about not playing, but he comes on and gives everything. Made a huge impact, from the moment he was on, rather than being on the back foot, we were pressing forward with more urgency. He changes the entire psyche of the team when he's on.
  17. Odd choice as captain IMO, considering Luiz is evidently the real leader. I suppose Conte gave it to Azpi as he's been here for 5 years.
  18. Does he need five appearances for us? Because he's obviously made loads of appearances for Bournemouth this season.
  19. I thought he was great up front. Made some very intelligent runs. No doubt he would have scored the penalty if he'd have taken it, and he'd have gobbled up the chance Costa missed.
  20. That's how you respond to a shit performance - with a world-class one. Couldn't do anything for the second Spurs goal as it was one of the most incredible passes I've ever seen. Other than that - imperious. Captain material.
  21. Most-improved player in the Premier League this season. No comparison. What a player. IMO, he should have had the MOTM award. Don't remember him being beaten in a 1v1 even once yesterday, though I may be mistaken. An absolute menace going forward as well.
  22. I admit - I thought he'd lost it when I saw the line-up. How wrong was I? Superb tactical approach today. Michy and Willian were superb. Ake also repaid his manager's faith in him. What a bloke. Why did I even doubt him for one minute? Ballsy as fuck.
  23. What a player. What a man. He doesn't need to wear a condom because he can probably intercept his own semen.
