The Chelsea of 5-6 years ago would have already snapped him up instead of all of this pussy-footing. We'll panic buy Wilfreid Zaha on deadline day, anyway, no need to worry.
-
We've already got one supposed superstar who only plays when he feels like it, why buy another?
-
We're more likely to approach Crystal Palace for Benteke and Saha, as that is the sum of our ambition under the current board.
-
Utterly embarrassing. The calibre and level of player Chelsea Football Club should be looking at includes the Lewandowskis and Cavanis and Alexis and Icardis of this world... Andy fucking Carroll... this will rank alongside Tal Ben Haim, Steve Sidwell, etc. as an embarrassment of a signing. If he is the sum of our ambition, we might as well write to UEFA to bump us down to the Europa League next season. Hell, with him as our "saviour from the bench", we'll probably end up finishing 5th anyway. He's injured more often than not, anyway, which would leave us with having to play with a false 9 as Plan B (or Plan A if Morata maintains his spectacularly shit form).

Some of the things I see Chelsea fans write on here - and on Twitter - are genuinely surprising. It honestly amazes me that people think he is world class. He is a very, very good player - of that I have no doubt - but he's also about as consistent as Joe Cole was. He'll turn it on for five minutes a game and might get a goal or create a chance for somebody else, but very rarely does he have a complete game. Apart from the Newcastle game last December, he's not had a 10/10 this season. Last year he had several. I really don't think he is at the level where some Chelsea fans put him, and think there are other players in the squad who would be far harder to replace (Azpiliceuta, Courtois, Kante spring to mind). I think Hazard flatters to deceive and I genuinely do not feel he'd make the impact in La Liga that would warrant what would be a horrendously inflated transfer figure. He's at a crossroads in his Chelsea career, and personally I think we need to see more from our alleged best player.

I could do well there, let's be honest.
-
If we get rid of Michy in favour of Andy fucking Carroll, it will just go to show the lack of ambition this club now has in the transfer window.
-
Zappacosta couldn't defend an innocent man in court, yet he's better than this lad.
-
Would we say his market value - if Coutinho goes for £142m - would be around the £200m mark? Irreplaceable.
-
Hope he plays in the FA Cup game on Wednesday. Not just because I'm going, but I have a habit of seeing Chelsea number 8s score their first goal for the club... Lampard Levski Sofia 2001 rings a bell.
-
LMAO Alonso scores a few goals and people suddenly forget he's bang average.
-
What does one abject performance against a park the bus team playing for their lives with our second string have to do with our PL aspirations?
-
This I agree with. Doing it two or three times in a game can be forgiven, I honestly lost count. I like Bakayoko but I find it hard to defend him on recent form!
-
This I can accept, and would question. Bakayoko was awful today. I'm not sure Conte thoroughly trusts Drinkwater, but his performance vs Stoke certainly didn't warrant him being dropped.
-
I agree but also disagree He is crazily inconsistent with his movement. His link-up play around the box is tidy, however he makes some very blind runs and often even crowds out the player on the ball. Costa didn't move all that much but he inhabited space quite often... he was intelligent inasmuch as he often stayed still, making space by default as defenders were drawn to the ball. Morata needs to learn do the same. I'll look back at some of my posts tonight when I'm less angry and cringe, but boy, he's got some fucking serious making up to do.
-
The first save was unreal.
-
He'd actually looked really good in the first few appearances he made since his injury, but: ALL contributes towards what has been an underwhelming season. Conte worked some voodoo magic on him last year - somehow - but he now looks like a winger playing out of position.
-
Anyone directing anger of any kind towards the manager is a moron. How can he be held accountable for mongs like Bakayoko not being able to pass to a player in a blue shirt? How can he be held accountable for Morata being an absolute disaster in front of goal? How can he be held accountable for a shit defensive header by Alonso, or a dodgy, unlucky ricochet off of Morata for their first goal? Similarly, let's not forget that Wilshere should have been on the pitch (great job there, ref). We should have won by four clear goals tonight. If we'd have held on for the win, you'd all be lining up in front of him on your knees. Football is fickle.
-
Yes I think that's something blatantly obvious that you're missing, he is so very good at driving forward with the ball, but the issue is that then he can't make a simple, straight 10-yard pass. So frustrating.
-
Anyone who doesn't vote for Courtois as MOTM should urgently book in a lobotomy. Hazard was anonymous for most of the game. But in fairness to him, when you've got a zombie like Bakayoko and a brainfart of a "striker" alongside you, you aren't going to have much luck
-
Nope. Genuinely. The first one-on-one, he had so much time to finish. The second one, to be fair the defender did well to narrow the angle but even so, any striker worth their salt puts the ball across the goalkeeper rather than going near post. But the third one. Jesus. It's sitting up perfectly for him. He's got the time to choose if he wants to dink it, go with his laces, side-foot it. So he decides to fucking toe-poke it straight at the keeper. He seriously needs to take a long, hard look, because I don't see him lasting another 18 months in this league. Not cut out for it.
-
I'm struggling to defend him right now. That being said, I'm incredibly angry and frustrated. He is so fucking good at driving forward with the ball, but how is he so shit defensively? I couldn't possibly be any bewildered by what is clearly a talented player. He has the intelligence of a dead pigeon.
-
As much as I could murder Morata right now, can we give Thibaut Courtois a big fucking mention. The only way Arsenal could score was through a wonder-volley and a Morata assist.
-
Torres was better than Morata. Just saying.
-
Costa would have put away all three of those chances. Fucking hell, Batshuayi would.
