What about his impressive start when we were top of the league? You can't just say it was Hazard and Mata because the back 4 and Mikel/Ramires/Lampard all played their part. I know a lot of people on here think its odd that myself and others like to 'defend' Mikel when sometimes he is fucking awful but hes a good player. Everyone complains about his slow, sideways passing but would you prefer to see him play it safer like that retaining possession or say Luiz/Lampard constantly punting it 60 yards to no one? The style we are trying to implement is based on ball retention and hes one of the better players in our squad for it. Technically hes better than all our other MF players. He holds the ball very well and completes the most passes per game usually. The movement from Torres is usually not there half the time so what does he have to aim at? The onrushing Daniel Agger/Vincent Kompany/Nemanja Vidic's head usually because Torres isn't great at winning aerial battles against those guys. Also the game we played at the Bridge against United when Robbie was in charge, Mikel had a very good game too. Ok maybe it doesn't count for much as we lost but he was very good along with Ramires in the pivot. He goes under the radar in good games but when the team loses hes always the first to blame. I know everyone has different opinions on him as it was the same with Kalou everyone either hates or loves him OR hes the scapegoat. The game vs Juve, everyone blamed Mikel for that second goal when it was actually JT's mistake.... nobody blamed JT, it was all about Mikels pass even though it took Juve about 30-40 seconds later to actually do something and play the pass to Quagdiriella (honestly fuck this guys name)

He wasn't that bad yesterday but not great. I've stuck up for him in the past but hes been quite poor recently (before Liverpool game), very inconsistent too especially after that game we drew 2-2 at Old Trafford. If he'd play as well as he did against United, Arsenal and Spurs this season more often he'd be one hell of a player. I agree with whoever said he seems to be better in bigger games, hes been shit against smaller teams. Its been an odd year for him, started good, form got patchy, been poor for a bit, good game against United then very inconsistent since. Same with a lot of players actually. I think we should get a player who compliments him in the pivot, a Alonso-esque player who can dictate play from deep and create but also help him getting stuck in to opposition midfielders. Lampard and Ramires aren't the greatest options for it but right now out of the two Rami is the best for it.

So what he had a good game. Scott Sinclair had a good against us last season. Jack Cork had a good against us recently when Soton won 2-1. Players tend to play better against their old clubs to prove a point.

Really put out a B team? These guys dispatched Spurs first team quite well and you want us to put out a B team? Yeah we should rotate but we need a strong team still. The likes of Stocker, Streller and Salah will cause us problems for sure.

Hes a good CB but this move would be 2 years too late tbh. Actually I'm gutted we didn't sign Vertoghen in the summer after seeing him perform so well for Spurs.

Hes a good young DM but I think he needs time to grow yet. Hes done well recently in a few games for Brazil, neat and tidy in possession, working off the ball and good at tackling but could do with another year or two to develop his game. Maybe he should come to Europe like Luiz and Ramires did and play at a club like Porto or Benfica or someone for a year or two before moving to England or Spain or wherever he wants to go. He looks like a good prospect though. Unsure whether I'd have him over Paulinho though, Paulinho is leaving Brazil in the summer so he'd be easy to attain compared to Fernando who will probably stay in Brazil to get regular time with Gremio so he can get picked for the WC in 2014.

Not that it matters, that would be an advantage over approaching Madrid for Jose. Pellegrini would also be on lower salary freeing up more money to spend on other things. I probably should have worded that better and said hes not as good an option as Jose in terms of managerial class as well.

Pellegrini be a cheap option as opposed to Jose. His contract has a €4 million release fee as compared to what Mourinho would probably have (maybe €15+). Didn't Real not pay like €15-20 million compensation for him at Inter in fact? Was apparently a record breaking compensation fee anyway. No doubt Pellegrini is a decent manager, experienced but sure I'd prefer Jose or Klopp.

He did good tonight. Got into dangerous positions, used his body well at times to retain possession/win it back and ran a lot. Had a decent effort saved by Schwartzer in the second half too. As Kojo basically said, his decision making will improve. In a way hes still very raw, in a way he is a cross between a sprinter and a strong guy (hahaha some comparison). He is really fast along the ground, one of the faster players in our squad and is very strong and powerful when running with the ball/trying to regain or win back possession. His strength offers us something that Mata and Oscar in particular lack. Hazard is a bit stockier and can hold the ball well but isn't as big or strong as this guy. He will work on his finishing/crossing/decision making in the future. Hes only 22 remember guys.

Just me or was Hazard really average tonight? Anyway 3 points. What a golazo by Luiz. Torres industrious upfront, not scoring but at least hes putting in effort unlike before under Robbie and Andre. Moses doing well until deciding what to do with the ball. Fucking bring on the bin dippers!
