A left footed CB, would add a bit more balance to the team I feel but at 35M no thanks.

You said he was living off a chip he did in a CL semi final in 2012. You made out hes done nothing since that by saying' he's living off it' so don't give me your fucking bullshit 'I didn't actually accuse Ramires of having done nothing good apart from the Barca chip', where you basically were accusing him of living off it saying he didn't deserve to wear the shirt in previous posts etc. He scored big goals in the FA cup semi final and then the final after that game vs Barcelona in that season for fuck sakes. Hes not living off anything, out of the midfield options we have had since 2011 he has been one of the best of the lot, hence why hes been included in more or less every game he's been fit to play in since 2011. Robbie, Rafa and Jose didn't just pick him because he chipped Valdes in the Nou Camp loool. What are players not allowed to have a run of bad form? It happens mate.
-
Still living off that chip? After his first season where he had to adapt to English football he kicked on, he scored our goal of the season in the 2010-11 season vs City and looked like he was finding his feet in the PL. In the 2011-12 season he was one of our best players, under AVB where he was given more offensive capabilities and also under Di Matteo when he came in and took over he kept, performing well despite being shuffled out wide to accommodate Lampard and Mikel as the two holding players in a 4-2-3-1. He scored big goals and provided big moments, not just that chip against Barca, remember the goal he scored against Liverpool in the FA cup final? Also he scored against Spurs in that 5-1 game in the semi final. He also set Drogba up against Napoli at the Bridge for the first goal, kept Lavezzi quiet when he had to defend and was very heavily involved with the crucial fourth goal Branna scored. Under Jose this year he looked more at home in the 2 for a good half of a season. The Super Cup final he impressed me a lot, despite receiving a red card. Ok he started to fade away during the second half of the season and didn't put in good performances but that's football, form doesn't last a whole season. Also he done some stupid things but because he did two or three stupid things doesn't mean hes a poor player who doesn't deserve to wear the shirt. Hes done well and contribute his fair bit since arriving here, big goals/moments/performance in specific big games the last few years (vs United, City, Napoli, Barcelona, Spurs, Liverpool, Bayern, Benfica etc) so I think you need to re-evaluate your opinion. Fabregas coming here would be a great move, Matic sweeping up in front of the defence and Fabregas feeding the likes of Hazard, Willian, Oscar etc with the ball in between the lines... please make it happen.

Seen rumors floating about on twitter Atletico are close to a deal with Granada for their LB who was on loan at Benfica last season so they might have decided to sell Luis to us...
-
Its a factor to consider though, yes not every winger is at that level but its something that worries me a bit given we will be looking to get to the semi finals every year and we will end up against a team like Real/Bayern/Barca or that eventually. Its the same with at the World Cup, he's really unknown quality on that stage as he is in European competition, also with a massive price tag (which I wouldn't pay even if he was going to be our LB for over 10 years given hes a full back, I mean cmon we got Azpilicueta who was just as good if not better at LB this year for 7 million). What if he has a bad start? Half the forum go ape shit and say we shouldn't have spent 20-30m on him like Oscar this year lol? I'd prefer a more experienced player over him right now or Cole to stay just so we have an experienced backup of some sort. He is a great talent but he is also a slightly risky signing. I'm sure he'd be a success but I'm just looking at what could happen because theres no guarantees that he will replicate how he's played for Southampton for Chelsea as its a different team, much more pressure as theirs an expectancy to win every game. I mean if we are desperate for English players why don't we go and get Baines? Sure he's 29 and will only do a few more years but hes a better player right now. This team needs players who have already developed to close to their best so we have a mix of youthful players, players in their prime and then the much more experienced players.

Could Shaw cut it in Europe against a very good wide player, someone like Pedro, Bale, Di Maria or that at 18, 19 or 20 ? Sure Walcott or Lennon is one thing but if we got one of Barcelona or Real Madrid in the CL, players like Bale or Pedro or Di Maria I feel would probably give him a hell of a time. Maybe a more experienced player could be better for now, maybe not though. Jose will get a very good LB in though, so we will see. If we kept Cole then signing Shaw would have made sense, if Shaw struggled against some bigger players in Europe then Ash could step in and do what hes been doing for years, big performances in big games. I don't think Jose will spend a fair chunk of the Luiz money on a 18 year old LB with 60 odd PL games though.
-
Lol I remember when everyone said he was a flanks player. Simeone plays his playmakers on the wings, Koke would be brilliant for us in the pivot, great vision and technique and in general a very very good rounded player.
-
Lucas Moura has no footballing intelligence whatsoever. In Brazil they have said that he hasn't progressed since moving to Paris and I'd probably agree. If we were to swap Oscar for Lucas Moura I'd cry because as bad as Oscar has been since December or January, Lucas is not better than Willian or Hazard or even Schurrle at a push.
-
Would be a good signing as a squad player who plays 15-20 games as opposed to a 17, 18 or 19 year old who needs to be playing week in week out to develop in a team which isn't fighting for a PL title or a possibly CL trophy. I mean Chalobah is a great talent but he was in and out of the Middlesbrough team, McEachran was in and out of the Wigan team, Loftus-Cheek is probably better of playing u21s football again this season as is Ake or he'd possibly be better off going on loan somewhere. Yeah its good to give youth a chance but are Chalobah, Ake, McEachran at that sort of standard yet? No. Marco van Ginkel is also returning to match fitness and will give us a chance to see what hes made of, hes played over 100 games for Vitesse, looked promising in pre-season and if he had been fit he'd probably have been included in Holland's World Cup squad as they rate him very highly.
-
Do you really think Zouma and Omeruo are going to be at the club next season? Zouma will probably be loaned out and Omeruo definitely will be I think. Christensen will keep playing with the u21s leaving us with JT, Cahill, Kalas and Ivanovic (who Mourinho sees as a RB more than a CB given he basically played every game this season bar 3 of them in that position) so I think he will go after a CB even though Kalas had a very good debut vs Liverpool. It wouldn't make sense for Mourinho to not go after a CB to replace Luiz given that the 3 others (Zouma, Omeruo and Christensen) are all very inexperienced players under the age of 21 with the possibility that 2 of them will be loaned out. Theres rumors of us trying to get Varane from Real so I think a CB is going to be bought this summer for sure, might not be Varane, could be Benatia or maybe Mangala who knows.
-
But he will replace Luiz and it won't be with Zouma or Omeruo or any other young CB we have I bet you that. Mourinho isn't scared to drop John Terry or Gary Cahill lol even if they have had a very good season together, if he thinks he can improve the team he will, he will want another CB to compete with Cahill, Terry and Kalas. Competition for places can increase performances, look at Oscar as a #10 when Mourinho first came back to the club and said he's his number 10 and Mata must work to get that position back/in the team in comparison to after January when Mata left and he was the only real #10 here.
-
Nobody said he would be a backup. He could walk into the team for all we know. We will need another CB though because Zouma will be loaned out to keep his development/progression or whatever you want to call it going well and Omeruo is in and out of a Middlesborough team so hes not ready to play for Chelsea yet.

I wouldn't really say it was by a massive difference then. Atletico still gave Real a lot of problems by winning first and second balls in midfield, pressing and defending very well (except for that corner Ramos scored from and the extra time due to fatigue). The likes of Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria (in the first half) players who you'd expect to open them up (even though a lot of teams have this year) struggled to really get into the game at all and if I were a Madrid fan I would have found that quite worrying during the 90 minutes, given their ability and the fact it was the biggest game of their season if not their Real Madrid careers. Even if Ronaldo and Benzema were doubts before the game they were awful, Diego Costa wasn't very fit but Ronaldo and Benzema were obviously going to be more ready for the game than he would be given Simeone had rushed his recovery from injuries once or twice this season and they backfired. Most of the Real Madrid team played badly in fact, 4-1 wasn't a fair reflection and the idiot journalists and morons on twitter bigging up Bale and Ronaldo's performances need to seriously have a look at that game again. Bale was awful but he ran 30m and scored a header so he all of a sudden had a good performance? Roy Keane was right when he said Bale had done nothing in the first half and he still did in the second half and most of extra time. Sure Atletico were poor in attack but then that means surely Real were very very very poor in attack because Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo you would never have guessed were playing at all in the 90 minutes. Sure when it went to extra time you could just feel Real would win mainly because the Atletico players had given so much and were quite frankly hanging on from the 70th minute onwards. Still it was about time Madrid won la decima given all that money they spent, just a pity though because I felt Atletico's efforts up until that corner was worthy of winning even though the last 20 minutes it was quite frankly one way traffic.
-
At a top club you preferably want 4 good CBs. We had Terry, Cahill, Kalas and Luiz to play at CB last season most of the time. Ivanovic can play there but hes going to be used as RB almost 9 times out of 10 by Mourinho so now that Luiz is gone I'd say yes a CB could be useful. Omeruo and Zouma will almost definitely be loaned out this season so why are we mentioning them for next season? Benatia has improved a lot but still not sure about paying 35m for him.
-
Delighted for Carlo as I am for any ex Chelsea manager when they win something (except Benitez), one of the only managers along with Bob Paisley to win the European Cup 3 times now. I still don't see how Real Madrid won the CL final 4-1 despite playing so poor collectively and to be honest individually in 120 minutes. Had Costa been 110% fit then I think it might have been a different story because well lets be honest Adrian is a good player but hes not Diego Costa and everyone in that Atletico team were very good until Ramos scored. Lucky enough for Real they have match winners like Isco, Di Maria, Bale and Ronaldo (even though the only two who really made an impact were Isco and Di Maria in the second half and extra time). Think Carlo's subs were good though, Isco came on, let Modric play a wee tad deeper which worked as he did a lot more than Khedira in terms of distributing the ball forward and quicker and then Marcelo was braver than Coentrao in getting forward. Still don't think Real were half as good as they were made out to be in times this season and third place is La Liga is still quite embarrassing for a squad with that players.

Apparently the fee is £40.1m and he is having a medical today. Good profit tbh giving hes not kicked on very much.
-
Really? Remember when he used to play for Arsenal as a deep lying midfielder? Hes exactly what we need; controls the tempo, great vision, wins tackles, good positional sense, started scoring a lot more goals the last few years too. If we were offered him for Luiz I'd hope to god Jose takes it because as a CB he isn't first choice and as a CM he isn't even first choice here. Sure hes not kicked on as much but Pep utilized him as a winger or false 9 a lot and only the last year or so has he been used again in his more prefered deeper position more regularly under Tata Martino where he got something like 13 assists. Also he played in England for 8 years or so from when he was 16 so he might count as homegrown but I'm not 110% sure though.
-
Lampard has been scoring 10 plus goals a season for the last 10 seasons or whatever now one man comes and gets near enough to 20 he's some sort of god and second best player in the world? Don't make me laugh.
-
Hahahah what a pathetic wankstain Toure is.
-
Still has plenty to offer a club fighting for a PL title and Champions League trophy next season in terms of ability and experience. The fact hes leaving is on par with Hodgson not taking him to Brazil, fucking ridiculous decision. If we don't renew Lampards contract (which I don't see why he would get a renewal if Ash won't) and possibly sell/loan Petr depending on what happens with Courtois before the start of next season, then we be in a very bad position in terms of experienced players. Giving JT a new contract was good but imagine losing both Ash and Lampard? As well as the talk of Cech going if he doesn't want to be number 2 to Thibaut? I feel we need to keep Cole as back up at least, I'm sure he could still play 20 plus games for us next year despite being a back up. Even Lamps tbh, although I think every player who plays in central midfield at this club if ahead of him in the pecking order. Possibly even players like Eto'o who have done it all.
-
Tbh if we do sell Luiz, I'd rather someone like Phil Jones or even Varane who have proven themselves in leagues better than the Portuguese. Also we don't need 2 new CBs, just the one if Luiz goes. Kalas looks more than ready to play a lot more based on the Liverpool performance.
-
Don't see why people are seeing this as a stupid transfer to go after. Phil Jones is still only 21 or 22 and has still got a lot of potential and is already quite a good center back. Look at the improvement in Cahill under Jose, look at Varane at Madrid, even look at Ramos at Madrid when hes not being a prick, look at Terry while Jose was in his first spell here. Jose would make him a really good center defender in my eyes. If we get rid of Luiz and we don't resign Lamps/Cole we will need homegrown players but its better to have a good homegrown player like Phil Jones, who is good and will only get better, than someone like Scott Sinclair, who was very average, who went to City to make up for the lack of English players and never play or when he did play not be able to contribute very much.
-
This is why it won't happen in my eyes. Good player, ok lost his confidence at Barca, has PL experience but he only picked up assists because Wenger let him off the leash a bit with Arteta next to him so he could push further up because Arteta was holding his position to contribute in building play in a deeper position but that still came back to bite Arsenal. I also think Matic-Song isn't going to be the most creative midfield pairing despite Song having 11 assists in his last season in the PL, it was the only time in his career he had more than 5 assists in a season. I doubt he will be given that same freedom when you consider Matic has periods in games where he is allowed to contribute more further up the park due to the fact he can carry the ball quite well and is mobile enough to do so.
-
Really? In a Mourinho 4-2-3-1, the number 10 is close to one of the more important roles. The wingers start deeper due to the number 10s positioning and the fact the wingers being deeper create space for the number 10 giving Oscar a chance to make runs into either channel. (watch this stupid video I found which isn't very stupid from when they start talking about the number 10 role) They use Ozil as an example when Jose was at Real. Oscar interchanged into the right side this season at times but when we are counter attacking like we seen for example against Schalke in Germany, Oscar ended up making a run onto the right wing after Hazard started the counter attack, running through the middle in a #10 position before Oscar took it and ended up squaring for Torres to score.

I will be a year older.
