  1. Not as easy as that though. If PSG don't sell Neymar (imagine paying 200m for a player and selling him a year later anyway?) there's no way Madrid pay his release clause considering its probably close to 400m euros. Either one of Mbappe and Hazard will be secondary targets. This whole thing is just gonna heat up too now Ronaldo is at Juve.
  2. He has untapped potential I think. Regarding his weight, hes always been a bit heavy since his move to United and even more so after breaking his leg but hes posted an image on social media of him in Dubai with Uniteds strength and conditioning coach, it looks like hes lost a lot of weight and intends to keep doing so too. Fair enough the games he played last season his manager publicly criticised him (not sure Jose even understood why, I think he just likes to do that with certain players) and played Ashley Young at LB, but we've seen Jose here constantly stick with experienced average players over more realistic solutions (Ivanovic at RB instead of Azpi and not using Filipe Luis arguably one of the best LBs in Europe?) If we lost any LBs, I think under Sarri he would be a shrewd signing. I mean he was a top talent and if its any similar to the deal we got for Barkley, if we can get him for 15M and he doesn't work out, its no big loss but we already have Alonso and Emerson who I think will get a big chance this season.
  3. Perhaps he is but right now hes played primarily as a wide player under Pep and he did at Monaco as well. I think if somebody as talented as Bernardo Silva (even if he is being groomed into David Silva's long term replacement) can't displace Sterling, what chance does Mahrez have? Also 67M? for a bench warmer? After spending 300m last summer on full backs, wingers and goalkeepers? No chance City are done spending and I reckon FFP need to seriously start digging into them too like they are intending to do with PSG.
  4. Be interesting to see what Sarri makes of him. He strikes me as the sort of player who could do a similar job to Hamsik in that Napoli team.
  5. Really? Would take Sterling over Mahrez every day of the week personally, Mahrez really has only had that one season where football went completely bonkers and Leicester won the league. Sterling has been an outstanding footballer since he broke onto the scene and I am quite gutted we were never truly in for him when he left Liverpool, last season he was outstanding, 20 goals from right wing...
  6. Its pointless to even mention Messi because Messi has made a career of scoring goals and deciding big games by himself for 10 plus years... I get the context your trying to use but comparing Eden to Messi or Ronaldo, who have been absolute giants in cup finals for 10+ years is stupid.
  7. We need to stop thinking like a second rate club and thinking of offloading good players purely for wages. Cesc still has plenty to offer here, Jorginho coming in gives us a proper controlling midfielder and frees him up to do the more offensive stuff hes good at. Even if Cesc is a bench player and comes on as an impact sub he got like 12 assists the first year under Conte doing that, it makes absolutely no sense to offload him especially now we've got an offensive minded manager coming in and a controlling midfielder to take the burden off Cesc in terms of dictating games from a deeper position, it will give him a chance to get closer to Eden, Morata, the other offensive players and combine with them as well as get into the box. Also do you think Sarri comes in, knowing hes got a player with Cesc Fabregas' skill set and bins him instantly? No chance.
  8. Don't see it. Mahrez is nothing special. He will be a bench warmer for them. If Bernardo Silva can't displace Sterling then no chance Mahrez does it. When has Mahrez ever been better than Sterling?
  9. Must admit, as much as I like him as a player, he will probably get more chances at Juve, I mean if we play 433 or even 343 if Conte stays or whatever he will have Cesc, Kante, Bakayoko, Barkley, Jorginho all to contest with. Even in more attacking positions again Eden, Pedro, Willian, Barkley again... it would be a good move for us to get him I think and gradually work him into the first 11, I think hes more a rotational option at present, an impact sub perhaps but he'd be a good one.
  10. If he decides to leave I'd rather see him at Barca than Real. Also I think it would probably be his preference to go Barca over Real now Zizou is gone. Still think there's a huge chance he stays and resigns because if Sarri comes, works the team into his idea of football, brings Jorginho and a few others as well as possibly revitalise ageing players like Cesc, Willian, Pedro... its a different ball game all together.
  11. Generally think Sarri will like Pedro because hes one of these players that can combine with players very easily, Also I think one of his best attributes is seeing space and moving into it, hes never been a player who is brilliant in 1 v 1s like Hazard or Messi or whoever but he moves off people and goes into space off the ball, if Sarri gets us playing the sort of football that he got at Napoli, Pedro will be kept I imagine. Its quite exciting actually to see if Sarri does have this sort of effect on many players we have, guys like Eden, Pedro, Willian, Cesc, Morata, Christensen, Emerson will thrive in his system I think. And yes Fekir is more a 10 or a second striker, I doubt he'd struggle as a right winger but its not his key position.
  12. Regarding Costa, I think that is a huge mistake on Brazil's behalf but I remember a few other Brazilian members on here saying that they didn't want him or that they were glad he didnt play for Brazil, that he was average and hated him due to the fact he chose to change his national team etc etc. Still think Costa in that Brazil team would give them some real balls. The guy is just a brilliant footballer and on his day he sets the mood for the team, if hes up for it the whole team feeds off it. I'd hate to even see what Jorginho, Thiago and Coutinho in a MF 3 would do to teams, just wouldn't be fair haha.
  13. Would only be a good move if he played. All for using that connection but if he won't play every week? Personally I'd hope Ajax would follow up their reported interest but after the signing of Tadic and also talk of Blind, apparently they are going to not be looking at many other players.
  14. I think Sarri will breath a new lease of life into him. There is plenty left that Cesc can offer in a more offensive team. Also with Jorginho coming and Kante, a 3 man MF with Cesc being given a chance to play further up could be an excellent option. Yes it would be lightweight but when we are chasing games or against smaller teams? Absolutely, why not?
  15. In all actual honesty I dont think Sarri is in any way a better coach than Conte. He will bring a different way of playing maybe but the first season under Conte we actually played some class football, for instance the United game and Everton games will always stick in my mind. Also beating City at the Etihad was brilliant. I think its fair to say the last season was shite but if he stayed this season, with guys like Jorginho, Rugani, Higuain etc coming in if the rumours are true he could have had a right good go again but its not to be. The first manager to give guys like Christensen and even Chalobah in the first season, a lot more chances too.. I bet nobody expected that when he came in, although Chalobah leaving and being replaced by Drinkwater really was stupid. Regardless I think with Moses and Alonso as wing backs and David Luiz and Gary Cahill as CBs, he did a good job to get that PL title in the first season considering everyone thought City would walk it. Also you can talk up Hazard, Costa, Kante, Matic etc but lets not forget how bang average and out of shape the team was the previous season, the system was awful, nothing worked, he found quick solutions and they paid off well.
  16. Would be a good choice, plenty to work with, all three are different types of players. Not 100% sold on Higuain but what I've always liked about him is hes guaranteed goals and a hard worker, always was at Real, Napoli and still is at Juventus, despite constantly criticisms regarding his weight, playing style etc. If anybody has to go out of our strikers its got to be Batshuayi, hes not cut out for a top team, even at the world cup it took him about 7 chances to score against Panama... plus I've seen enough of him in a Chelsea shirt, never impressed.
  17. Honestly think as a defender, he has all the tools to make it to the top. Athletic, great in the air, a bit of fine tuning with positioning and he'd be excellent. Technically he isn't amazing but as a defender pound for pound I think he could definitely be brilliant. Honestly don't think Rugani is much better than him or Christensen, although he is a lot better on the ball for instance than Zouma. Just look at Koulibaly before Sarri and after Sarri, no reason why Zouma couldn't improve, in terms of positioning KK learned a lot under Sarri, hes credited him with that in interviews.
  18. Probably not which is a shame because he has all the tools to be a top CB still. Technically he improved at Stoke as well but I suppose they were a train wreck defensively.
  19. Good player and maybe a Sarri choice but again why when we have got Zouma, Christensen, Luiz, Cahill, Rudiger and also Azpi who could comfortably play there? If we play with a back 4, we will need 4 CBs at least I realize but we have 6 now if this guy is here. Cahill is club captain and I doubt Sarri comes in and sells him on straight away. Especially considering he is a better player in a back 4 than a back 3, which makes me think Luiz and Zouma are goners.
  20. Fall from grace, hes lived out his best moments of his career... if this was Oscar or Carrasco maybe fall from grace would be appropriate but its not.
  21. Not getting my hopes up. Really good player. 65-70M is perhaps a bit steep but I'm looking at the fact Kante cost 32m and again its only rumours. Lets see though. Serri is off to Fulham so we need to get somebody.
  22. Lets be honest, as idiotic as some of the board are this would never happen. The club is notoriously difficult to negotiate with, 1 year or not left on their deals we'd get a good fee. The club has shown one thing in the past and that is the ability to wrangle money from other clubs. We will never do what Arsenal do. I mean we convinced PSG to sign a squad player for 50m about 4 years ago. Its just the other thing we struggle with, recruiting quality players at premium prices.
  23. Why are we being linked with so many CBs? We have like 10...
  24. I think regardless of whoever is the manager, we must sign somebody like Jorginho. If its Conte, sign him, if its to be Sarri, sign him. Just get it done.
