Well if he is not criticized and benched when he under-performs how on earth is going to improve? I do praise him. I just said in that very post you quoted that I like Eden. It's just that every little criticism, even when it is completely valid, triggers some kind of defense mechanism in some members here. Yes he's had a decent season so far, but that means that there are lots of areas still that needs improving. He is Chelsea player, we as fans have a right to point out his errors. Yes he should be benched if his dip in form continues. But I am more reluctant to call for Mata to be benched is that even off form, he still offer a lot. Take the last game against stoke, I didn't think Juan had a particularly good game, but he still ended up with 2 assists and a hand full of key passes. Can't say the same about Eden.

So what, we're supposed to play him and praise him no matter how he plays just because his name is Hazard and he is 22yo? I like Hazard, but any player, no matter who he is, should be constantly fighting for his spot. If he under-performs for 2-3 games in a row then he needs to be benched. Ededn is greatly talented, but that should not be an excuse to stop trying to improve.

Let me try and sum Danny up: Brilliant movements and runs, not so brilliant finishing and terrible decisions at times. Do I want a player like him to be our number one striker? No. Should he have been our number one striker over Torres? Hands down.
