In games like this quality players are not enough, you need to put team effort, which we didn't have. Call it team experience, it comes with stable squad, stable management and many games together. With all quality that we have, we never feel comfortable as a team in this game. But this is good lesson for youngsters, if we going to find some stability in future.

don't understand why so many of you became pessimistic. He is proven goal scorer, best in the box. It's obviously that we miss killer in the box after Didier left. All season long we have only two players who made about 90% of our attacks - Mata and Hazard, if they not good enough, we stuck and got punished. Dont want make more darkness, but it could turn into disaster.

For me it is safe move for Pep and don't make him big man. From one non competitive league to another. Look at Bayern - they are 11 points clear with only one game lost in 17 games. We don't need weak boy. We searching for big Boss, not just a smart guy who won something.

I am not so sad by performance, as many here. My reasons is that we playing based on score and doing it good, Benfica dont have real moments. We just didnt convince our chances into goals. If we had better attackers, we would have led 3-0 in 60 minutes. Kalou, Ramires not top wingers, we need better players on this positions. Still pleased we get through into semifinals.

The only reason why many not say Mata is that he is not so terrific at the moment. People fast forget how much value he has from the begining. Ivanovic great, some others show quality from time to time. But Mata make difference and impact since he arrive. So Mata for me Player of the Year.

Thread is "The Players", but I think this is not quite true blame them. Players should want play every game, and I think they try to perform, but simple they past there best. And of course manager cant handle with the team, because this not his players choice. The problem, as I see, is our money spending policy in recent years. Just remember how much millions we waste on players we dont need, on young players we dont use, on managers contract that we terminate. Our scout and negotiation systems is a joke. Every season we missed our targets in the market and there backup variant always fail in shot time. What teambulding we can talk about then we buy players for 10-20mln and our manager talking that they are not his choice. Ridiculous!!!

And we we shouldnt forget the salaries, Silva earn more then any one in our team. Salaries become really uncontrollable because of new growing football teams. Our goal to reduce them and earn some money on this to make balance. Thats what AVB trying to say. Get read of some high paid players, bring new with less wages and try to involve some new potential talants, also be competitive on all fronts. I think this is what he called project. Not to buy new superstars this high wages and try to win CL in single year. All of this take time, but stability is necessary. Otherwise we never see homegrown players playing for Chelsea regulary.

You cant compare JM and AVB spending, different times. Now, the market prices have increased significantly.
