It was a bad business from the get-go. We had already signed Schürrle and if the initial plan was to sign a left-footed player to play on the right wing aka what Mourinho told us in the pre-season then Willian was more than just redundant. Willian is in his prime and at a price of 30m we spent unnecessary money on a player that will most likely never justify such a fee. Such a shame about the money, really.

Essien, Ashley, Ballack and albeit not in his prime but still one of the best in his position, Maka plus the young lads Joe Cole, Kalou, Robben and Mikel. Add to that solid players like Paulo, Shevchenko, Bridge et voila - the best and most talented squad we've ever had in our history.

The 2006/07 squad was the best Chelsea have ever had. The amount of talent and worldclass players in their primes was just unreal.

Hope Ivanovic keeps that beard. Someone needs to take over from where Meireles and Cole left.
