I think it is a great draw, i was hoping for Chelsea to play against Napoli, since it will be the most entertaining and competitive draw. I think supporters should be overjoyed for drawing Napoli, instead of moaning. We will see two really good games, it is much better then playing a poor team and being treated to a borefest.
-
Well then Thiabut Courtious is not AVB signing either since we were linked with him way before AVB got here. Imo Meireles is not any better then Charlie Adam, i think they are pretty equal.
-
I rate him, but he disappears way too much in big games.
-
I was anticipating Ruben Loftus-Cheek starting, anyone know why he wasn't playing?
-
I think Chalobah, Kane and Swift seems to be the most likely from the players in the video. Kane has a good opportunity to make it at RB because of the lack talent we have at that position, we should really consider loaning him out soon. Nathan Ake and Piazon are recently signed, i haven't seen enough of them. But i like the potential in them.
-
Don't take what he said to the German media seriously, remember Sturridge said something similar when he was with Bolton. He has to show respect to the team he is on loan with, can't make himself sound like he is already planing on going back to his parent club. It is a good strategic move by Bruma, and his interview will definitely look well with the fans and his current manager. A third choice CB will get a lot of playing time at Chelsea, and consider that AVB likes to rotate his players. And as i said we play way too many games for him not to be on the pitch every other games.
-
Ivanovic seems to be Boas first choice RB atm, which only leaves us with Luiz and Terry as our only two CB's. Bruma can be our third choice CB; we are participating in the FA, CL, and PL competition. So he is sure to get a lot of playing time.
-
Bruma is better then Rajko, how can anyone disgaree? There is a good reason why Bruma is HSV starter along with Heiko Westermann. Bruma has been picked reguarly by HSV new manager and the previous one, which says a lot about Bruma talent, especially knowing that managers are usually bias when picking between a loan player and their own players. If the option is to pick between Rajko and Bruma, then is clear we should recall Bruma.

What would be the point of that? Cavani is basically like Torres before he joined Chelsea, their playing style is equally similar.
-
Torres is a one trick pony, and to get the best out of him you have to build your team around him and make him the focal point of your attack. Clearly we are not going build our team around him, and him adjusting to our style is clearly not working. i was pretty much baffled when we signed him, i initially thought he would struggle but never thought he would be this bad and miss so may sitters. To get the best out of Torres you have to play 4-2-3-1 and play a Trequartista behind him and pass the ball into open space and let him run after it. He also plays much better in counter attacking football, actually scratch that he is only good in that type of style. Its kinda funny when we are actually playing something more suited for Torres, we are playing Drogba. Drogba should've played earlier in the season, because he can play much better in a possession oriented style. Gomez and Cavani playing style is not that different from Torres, yeah those players are scoring for fun but remember so was Torres. Before Torres joined Chelsea he had the highest goals per game ratio in the premier league, now look where he is at. I am pretty curtain if Torres was still at Liverpool, he would probably be one of the highest goal scorer in the Premier league right about now. Torres only struggled under Hodgson in his entire Liverpool career. Personally i think you are underestimating Llorente, he can play in almost in any style. I think through the Torres signing we have learned one thing, its not about signing the best striker or the most inform striker, we should sign the striker that best fits our team and the club philosophy. Pretty sure AVB will go back to his possession football, so in fact Cavani and Gomez would not be the best option. Sturridge would be my choice to lead the line, but AVB seems happy with him out wide.

I can't believe so many of you rate Cannavaro so highly, i think he is incredibly overrated based on his 2006 world cup performance, i think he was good but nowhere nowhere the best in his generation. I rate Puyol, Terry, and Carvalho higher. Here is the top 4 defenders in my lifetime. 1. Nesta 2. Maldini 3. Thurman 4. Cafu
-
I don't think his world class atm, i think he has to prove himself outside of Athletic Bilbao. I think he is one of the most underrated strikers in the world. He is a very well rounded strikers; he has a great blend of technicality, speed, and strength. He can score many ways, and equally dangerous in the air and ground. I think he would be a great signing for us because he is versatile enough to play in possession or counter attacking football. I always worry about signing strikers that might not fit our style, but with Llorente that is definitely not going to be a problem. shame we are not linked with him, instead we are linked with players like cavani and Higuain who i doubt would be any different then Torres.
-
attacking football /=/ Barca lol.
-
I thought he was below average in the first half, then really picked up his performance in the second half. MOTM has to be Drogba, he was the single reason why we won the game.
-
If you want a direct replacement for Drogba, then imo there is no one better then Fernando Llorente.
-
I actually like Mata on the wings, he gives us a lot of creativity from the wings. Our midfield already struggles with a three man midfield, it would be disaster with two a man midfield. Mata already struggles with tracking back and helping Cole with defensive duties. He would be asked to do a lot more in a CAM role, he would have to play deeper and work for our midfield. It might make him less effective tbh. Mata is playing great currently, lets not try to change sometime that is already working great.
-
I will say that Sergi Roberto would be an excellent signing. Its no secret that AVB has great admiration for Barcelona and their attacking philosophy. He seems to want to replicate them in some way, and signing a player like Sergi Roberto would go a long way. I think in some way he can replicate Romeu success, because of how effortless his transition would be into our midfield. He excel in both things that AVB wants from his midfield. Press while the other team has the ball, and make quick passes. He would have an immediate advantage over our current midfield of Ramires, Meirless, and Lampard because of what he already does best. Ramires has the pressing part down, but lets just say that his passing and technical skills leaves a lot to be desired. Meireles passing is decent, but average at pressing. Lampard has played really well so far, but he doesn't have the legs to play at a high level under AVB, he can't press at a high volume. So basically i don't anticipate Sergi having much trouble breaking into our starting squad, because he is basically tailored to play in AVB midfield. Hopefully Sergi sees Romeu success and jumps ship.

Barca plays 4-3-3, and no one plays it better then them.

I hope we don't sign Cahill, we need CB's with pace and Cahill is not that. -
He is a decent player, but definitely not the quality we should be signing if we want go back to our best. Stevan Jovetic and Hernanes are the few players worth considering in Seria A.
-
I want with Sturridge, i thought overall he was more consistent then Mata in this game. I would hold on the Romeu should play more talk, he was superb imo but lets remember this was against Wolves. I don't know what to make of this game, because i thought Wolves were just awful especially in the first half.

Cech Bosingwa Ivanovic Alex Bertrand McEachran Romeu Lampard Sturridge Torres Malouda

Tore has been a good signing for Hamburg, he is quite the dribbler and statistically i think only Messi has completed more successful dribbles.
-
Bruma did struggle when he arrived at Hamburg, and eventually lost his starting position. But he has fought back and earned his place back into the starting squad, the new manager seems very happy with him and Westermann as his CB pairing. He is playing very well right now, and his performance has helped Hamburg climb the table. it is good to see him mature and improve by the day. IMO he has been the most successful loan story so far. I am hopeful to see him in the rotation at Chelsea next season, by the end of the season he should have good amount of experience. I really like him in the AVB high line defense, he has good amount of pace and strength. He is the ball playing CB that is best suited to play in our current defense. I also think he has a good chance to push for the starting CB position with Holland and play in the Euros this summer.
-
I am not sure if we are watching the same games or what, but Lampard has been our best midfielder by far. In the Leverkusen game him along Sturridge had the most through balls, and put us in goal scoring positions. Ouf Mikel, Ramires, and Lampard; Lampard fits into AVB system the best. He makes quick passes and is always in a position to receive the ball. At a times when our midfield lacks creativity, it is mind baffling to suggest bench our most creative player. Mikel starting position is already in question, i am not fan of playing Meireles in the holding midfield position, which is why i think Romeu should get a chance. Also Ramires starting position should be questioned. People overlook his flaws, like his positioning and passing because he is hard working midfielder. I think at times it looks like we are playing without a midfielder, because he is out position and is not available for passes. The team play would benefit a lot more if we were to drop Ramires and play McEachran or Meireles.
