LOL i just noticed Ivanovic was the one ahead of everyone that resulted the GK to come out and head it away. I initially thought it was Torres, since the Commentator mistook Ivanovic for Torres.

He was alongside Chalobah. http://www.thefa.com...rn-ireland.aspx

Don't think we will see him in England for a while since he won't have a work permit. Unless he racks up some Brazil NT call ups in the near future.
-
Luiz didn't play a single minute against Barcelona, he was injured.

Atletico payed above 40m for Falcao. I don't think you understand Atletico situation, you have them confused with Porto or something. They are not running Porto "buy low sell high" transfer policy. They used the Aguero money to buy an equal striker to be more competitive, he has every bit replaced him and has been sensational for them. They didn't pay 45m intending to sell him at higher value, because who pays that much thinking about profiting off a future transfer? Persoanlly think the best they can do is do a little better then break even. They simply brought Falcao to win, and they are doing quite well and built their team around him. You are also undervaluing CL football, CL will bring the club additional revenue and also makes them more attractive in attempting to sign better players. So A.Madrid has a lot to lose if their best player is gone. I beleive Falcao will force Alti hand eventually, maybe in the summer who knows.
-
Me neither, or Falcao for that matter. Atletico and Napoli are not going to let their best player go when they are well positioned to acheive their season goal. Both teams would consider their season a success if they achieve CL football. As things stand they are well placed in achieving that, unless their season go downward from here untill January don't think either strikers are moving. Realistic strikers we may persue imo are Huntelaar or Llorente.

Torres being good at holding the ball and possessing good link up ability is a myth. Torres wastes a lot of our attacking buildups by taking bad touches, poor passing, or getting knocked off the ball. Our attack suffers because of Torres inability to link up and keep possession. I am very surprised some think otherwise. Torres has the second lowest passing success on the team at 72%, sure his percentage being lower is due to him playing up front. I think it would be more appropriate to compare his Passing success to other strikers. So Blondie Passing success % is lower then all of Manchester strikers, so by all Manchester strikers I mean Dzeko, Balotteli, Aguero,Tevez, RVP, Rooney, Welback, Chicharito. Btw Torres is also the most dispossessed striker in the league; also among strikers he is guilty of having one of the highest turnovers per game. So not only does he look shit of linking up and holding the ball but statistics also proves that. Sturridge against United completed 50/56 passes with passing success rate of 89%, dispossessed once, and responsible for 2 mere turnovers. That is better then any game Torres had been involved in this season. It’s quite interesting some think Sturridge linkup ability and holding the ball would be terrible and a disadvantage to the team, while he would add a more goal threat presence. I have no doubt that Sturridge would excel in link up, and its normal for me to think that since Sturridge is a inside forward/Second Striker, who would thrive in a striking partnership. He actually enjoys being that link between midfield and attack, and like to drift out wide. I maybe more concern about Sturridge disciplinary to stay in the opponent penalty box. Torres should be a more goal threat presence because he is a true 9, and actually never been good at linking up and holding the ball. I remember in the Ancelotti days the argument why Torres can’t fit the Chelsea side because he didn’t have those abilities like Drogba and it was the reason he was struggling. Now people are reversing the argument and crediting his link up and hold up ability. Some will look for anyway to defend him. For me it is simple Sturridge is better then Torres in every way.

I would love to hear you or anyone who agreed with your post to make a logical argument why Torres should start over Sturridge.

Martin Lipton is that you?

Sturridge completed 50/56 passes and was rarely displaced in possession, which is a huge contrast from our other striker. I am quite frustrated with how our attacks are destroyed because of our other striker poor touches and over dribbling.

How many games is he suspended for?

Does our team really weakns that much with players like Azpi, Stu, Terry, Lampard, and Moses? ex lineup: Cech Azpi Cahill Terry Cole Mikel Lampard Moses Mata Hazard Sturridge If we post that lineup i feel equally confident picking up 3 points.

Wouldn't say there is a problem with Fernando selection(its against Iraq and Japan), Sandro on the other hand i do have a problem because Luiz Gustavo and Fernando Reges are better players. Beside that Mano is not even trying to keep a consistent squad and a squad going forward. Anyway back to Paulinho.....
-
I don't want to get into League vs League debate, but Italy Serie A is fairly better and by a good margin. Eventhough i enjoy watching the Brazilain Serie A. Paulinho does offer those qualities you listed, but what i should've said is that we need a playmaking CM( Hernanes, Moutinho, etc) then B2B midfielder which is what Ramires and Paulinho are tbh. Anyway i think Paulinho next step is most likely Italy, he would do well for either Napoli, Milan, or Inter. There is actually room for both; i will admit i have seen close to nothing of Giuliano but i doubt he is anything close to class of Hernanes, he should not be getting called up instead of Hernanes. Thiago Neves, Sandro and Fernando are also questionable selections by Mano. Brazilian National team is the team i follow the most after USA, so i do follow their league and players closely.
-
This quote caught my attention: Hernanes is arguably the best CM in Serie A, i am not sure if he is aware of that. Such a poor example.I am absloutly dumbfounded that he doesn't get a nt callup. I guess same could be said for Filipe Luis and Fernando Reges. Paulinho? He is basically on the same level as Ramires, if we sign another CM it should be someone who is an upgrade over Ramires. Or offers another demension, ex: passing, discipline.
-
Neymar would play as a striker if he comes here, more like the role he is playing with Brazil in recent games.
-
Drogba is just not a "late bloomer" example, he didn't play consistent football until much letter in his life compared to others. So why is Remy or Falcao(in another thread) compared to Drogba is beyond me. Haven't seen much of Remy tbh so i won't comment on his quality, but i would love to see us pick up one of Llorente or Huntelaar. Both on expiring contract.

It was a good performance. I like how RDM has adjusted his tactics, in our first few games he tried to achieve defensive balance by using a defensisive winger and sitting deeper, but now(including Stoke and Wolves game) we are pressing with much more intensity and higher up the pitch. I like the new appraoch, our team pressing will get better as the season go on. I thought we were sloppy on the ball at times, but nothing to worry about. Most concerning thing for me was how disjointed midfield and defense were in our buildup. Would like to see Ramires, Mikel, and even Oscar to drop deeper to recieve and collect the ball from CB. I don't like how seperated the two sets are, it creates a lack of passing options when were are trying build attacks. With the exception of our poor buildups at times in the game can't see too much negative. Also really liked the blue socks, it looked great with this season kits.

If the rumors of Benzema wanting out of Real Madrid is true then we should bid for him. I would prefer him over any striker in the transfer market.
