  1. He is very much wired like Torres and others that struggles when he is not clear #1 for their team. Some players falters in the face of competiton, while others excel. Anyway he is a fantastic striker and arguably the most underrated in Europe.
  2. You didn't mention anything about his lack of intelligence, quite frankly i didn't think you read my post maybe the first part. So why do you keep going on about Kalou lack of talent, instead of the real issue of lack of football brain?
  3. I think you have something confused about Kalou, his problem is not lack of talent and far from it. In fact Marco Van Basten, Johan Cruyff, Piet de Visser rated him very highly in his time in Netherlands. His talent also convinced Mourinho in signing him. So you see he is not a player that has lacked talent, in most way he is more athletically gifted then most footballers. So what is his problem? Intelligence, simply one of the most underrated traits in a footballer. It is the reason why Kalou career has not progressed. He simply doesn't have the football intelligence to be a good/great player, it's also the reason for so many frustrating moments over the years. So he doesn't lack talent, he is quite frankly Kalouless.
  4. Why is people on the previous pages saying he is a AM? That is like saying Rooney and Aguero are AM's, they are SS/ST just like Jovetic. He can play out wide also primarily on the left. Jovetic is not fixated to one position, he is versatile he can play anywhere in the attacking positions. Would be the best alternative to Hulk.
  5. I pointed out in another thread attacking fullbacks have basically replaced your traditional wingers, they are the one that creates width for most teams.
  6. I think Marin prefers to play out wide, since he played his best football there. His career has basically stagnated since he moved to SS role. Natural wingers are declining and less needed, main reason is because full backs are asked to create width for their team. So you see a lot more attacking full backs and are a lot more demanded then defensive minded fullbacks like Ivanovic. Natural wingers are not priority because your fullback can provide the same width and crosses. So you see Di Maria and Robben once known for being a natural wingers, now are inverted wingers, also SS/CAM are more used out wide. It is a very interesting trend. It is kinda funny most here on this forum want to see Chelsea sign a natural winger and RB who is defensive minded. Both with little demand in modern football.
  7. RAM? kinda like this ---------------Torres Hazard-----Mata-------Dzagoev kinda similar to Dortmund. not saying we should buy him, but it is very possible to make room for him.
  8. The only person i see overreacting is Justin. by distribution skills i mean successful and accurate passing, passes that lead to attacks and keeping possession. I also remember even AVB made a remark about how this an area he struggles with. Cech being a liability in the early days of AVB wasn't mentioned around here much, but he was a liability. For the system AVB was trying to play you need a goalkeeper who is comfortable on the ball make successful passes.
  9. Yes the league is so poor 4th place Sporting Lisbon knocked out English champion Man City out of the Europa league. Arsenal had 25 goal differential what is your point? The difference between Man City and third place is 29 points, while in Portugal the difference betwwen 1st place and 3rd place is only 13 points. Is Portuguese league more comparative? no, here is the thing with stats i can make it do anything and make misleading statements. The EPL is betterwithout a doubt, but Portuguese liga is still a respectable league with good teams and great history. you have been banging the same argument for a while, with random statistics to back up your ridiculous statements and keep saying the Primeira liga is poor. Try another angle for your argument for once.
  10. Really??? Buffon has been injured the last few years, but this season he was class. Didn't think people here would rate Casillas higher then Buffon, i regard Buffon a lot higher. For me he is the greatest GK of his generation and would defiantly go down as one of the best ever. i have mentioned many times, Cech biggest flaw is his distribution skills. others top him in that category. Right now i regard Neuer and Buffon as the best keepers in the world.
  11. Marin has the potential to challenge for a starting spot. He once showed enormous potential, this is more like a low risk high reward signing, hoping a change in scenery would help him reach some of the potential he once showed. Mineiro seriously? 1-2 appearances he made at Chelsea on a free transfer Sidwell? One of our worst signings in the Roman era, didn't take us long enough to ship him out. I should have mentioned we sign players to challenge for a starting squad or potential to do so in the future. Like everything else there are exceptions to the rule. Didn't think people would mention Mineiro, who i completely forgot about. A good example would have been Benayoun.
  12. He won't be coming here thinking he is a backup, he is thinking he would challenge in making the position his own. If you look at our past signings, you would see we don't sign backup players. We sign players that would challenge for the first team.
  13. I am huge fan of this lad, he is as important as a player is to Dortmund. His constant runs and ability to stretch the opposition defense is impressive, and very solid at the back. One of the finest RB in the world for me. Would love to have him here.
  14. The talent level in La Liga is far more superior, this really isn't an argument. You get better playing against the toughest competition week in and week out. Ligue 1 is a steeping stone for most players.
  15. If i was a player i would like to improve and prove myself against the best competition. Ligue 1 is not the place to do that. btw France has a very high tax rate.
  16. Converting back to our old playing style and getting results is one thing, but changing the formula and style is entirely another thing. Looking forward to see how he does and optimizing the talents of our new players is another challenge itself. Congrats Robbie
  17. Man City and Real Madrid situation is not ordinary with the rich of strikers they have, btw there are rumors of Higuain possibly leaving. City have Tevez, Aguero, Balo, Dzeko, and Ade( loan). Oh and they have John Guidetti who was superb for Feyenoord on loan. Using City as a benchmark is bad example, better example would be United, Arsenal, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, etc. Having two world class expensive strikers is unfeasible, if Cavani or Falcao comes Torres should be sold. Lampard only scored 3 times more then 12 goals in the league. But you could imagine he would have scored more in a more balanced teams like in the past, and played his preferred position(CF). It becomes what if scenerios, but what is a fact is his goal record and his impact in his first half of the season. It is not like Drogba didn't care against smaller teams, it is more due to his age and it is increasingly harder to be consistent at age 34. Same with Lampard, people accused of him not caring at times under AVB. Which is hard to believe knowing the professional Lampard is. Guessing by your username you are a Kobe Bryant fan, look at him in the past two seasons who inconsistent he has been. He is not the same player on a regular basis he used to be. Age does that to you. But i digress, so back on topic(somewhat) Gourlay said Sturridge will see more time as a ST, so it is positive news for him. I think over the season RDM will play the best player, if Sturridge proves that then he will play. RDM job is to play the better player and win, if he doesn't he will regret it and lose his job. Sturridge is on his last year of his contract, i am sure the club wants to test him as a CF and know his quality. I don't know what will happen, i would like to go into next season with Torres and Sturridge as our main strikers, i think it would be the best to test the players we have before spending big in the market. Also having Hulk as an emergency striker. If worst happens, January is not that far away. We can manage until then, Hulk and Hazard have goals in them too. Knowing our history of buying strikers it wouldn't surprise me if we buy Cavani or Falcao this summer. I just hope if that happens Torres is sold.
  18. Sturridge is not good enough to compete against Torres? He was our joint top scorer in the league btw.
  19. You are completely discrediting him for the good he did in the 20minutes, and crediting the other team being tired and the game was already opening up. Yeah you are not being objective, the positive is he put himself in those opportunists and him being slated for the missed opportunity is fair. Anyone who has followed the Spain NT knows, since VDB has taken over he hasn't performed even for his standard. He has never been the player he was for Alti Madrid and Liverpool. Fernando Hierro was a great player, but are you trying to tell me a striker with more more appearances shouldn't have more goals then a CB? You keep bringing up the last 1 1/2 years that is a irrelevant to me, i have seen every Chelsea game i know how poor he has been. But we are discussing today's game. I do agree the Torres fanboys on this forum are ridiculous.
  20. Buffon played the first opportunity brilliantly, second one he should've passed to Navas. He should've done better, but once he came on Spain looked a lot more dangerous. People wants to point out how he should've scored rightfully so, but also give him credit for his movement to be put in those opportunities. Anyway Torres has for most his career sucked for Spain that is not news, Fernando Hierro has more goals then him and he was a CB. lol No i don't think what a player does internationally has any correlation what he does for his club. RVP had a horrid game last night, it changes nothing for him and what he does for Arsenal or whatever club he plays for next season. I am not a Torres supporter by any mean, i would like to see him sold tbh. But i also hate knee jerking, most here are more venting their frustration over the past 15 months with Chelsea then looking at today's game objectively.
  21. I don't understand all the fuss, by the forum reaction you would think he missed two sitters for Chelsea in the Championship league. I couldn't give a shit what he does for Spain, and how many opportunities he misses.
  22. um most rate Hulk higher, not only he basically scored the same amount of goals but he was also responsible for providing half of Falcao goals. Falcao is a great goal scorer, but Hulk can do much more then just score goals. He can create for others and contribute more to team plays.
  23. No not everyone is underrated and overrated, some players are rated just fine. Also not everyone thinks a player is shit or world class, only idiots think like that. Your statement about Romeu is a prove and contradicts your opening statement. You describe Romeu as neither world class or shit, but as a good decent squad player. And that's how i rate Romeu. With the exception of Romeu, Mikel, and Sturridge most of the players are rated fine. Mikel and Sturridge are very underrated among our supporters.
  24. I have tbh with the exception of Chelsea games i don't watch much of EPL games. I don't know why people are against Fellaini and Tiote, from the few games i have seen they seem like good players and would help the team. Modric i can understand because of the transfer fee. I have mostly seen him in big games like Arsenal, City, and United. I have to say in none of these games he has impressed me, if anyone can recall when he has he performed well against us, City, Arsenal, and United? The player i don't want to see is Lucas Moura. He has phenomenal technical skills on the ball and his close control is second to none. He has major decision making and end product issues, that is major red flags for a player that is being quoted to cost around 35m. He is not a intelligent player i feel, that is something you cant teach and correct.
