Mertens a few years ago would've been ace. Mertens now? Ehhhh. Surely better than Bats as a stopgap until summer I guess.
-
You would think Giroud would want one last long contract at his age. Why go to Spuds and play for only half a season before being right back in the situation he's in now when Kane comes back? I thought he would only want to go to France or Italy where he could be the main man for a couple more years. If we brought in Cavani I'd sell him to Spuds. Doesn't bother me becasue we wouldn't be weakening ourselves while significantly improving them. Not like he was playing under Frank and it's not as though he'd be banging in 15 goals for Mourinho. He'd make them better, sure, but that's becasue someone is better than no one which is what they have now.

Anyone else find it strange that literally no other top club has gone for Bruno Fernandes if he's as good as United fans think he is? Journalists are making it sound like they're signing Iniesta. No other big club from any league are after him seriously. To me he has huge bust potential just like many of United's recent buys.
-
I haven't watched their recent matches but from what I'm seeing on Twitter he's apparently been their best player lately. Still, big price.
-
Jovic on loan with an option to buy similar to what we did with Higuain would be great. Unfortunately couldn't see Real Madrid agreeing to it after just buying him a few months ago. If he were to come here on loan and bang the goals in they'd want him back and then we're back in the same boat searching for a long term option.

All that hype a month or two ago about us potentially bringing in as many as 4 players this window. Top players as well. Nearly deadline day and we're likely to sign no one. We better have one hell of a summer window or our fans will go mad. Frank's job will actually be on the line next season unlike this one. So we damn sure better make signings that will at least let us compete for the title. Otherwise we would be hanging him out to dry.
-
For me it's Cavani or nobody. Don't settle for a mediocre striker just for the hell of it and then we're stuck with them. We don't need another average squad player.
-
Piatek is interesting. Before he moved to Milan and after the start he had once he moved there we'd have killed for him. But now he seems like he'd be a boom or bust striker if he joined us. Could he return to his best or will he be another Michy level player who we'd struggle to move on?
-
Jesus. Knowing how cheap Spuds are that's probably like 5x what he's currently earning.
-
Should've tempted Zlatan before he went back to Milan. 😄 Could've done a job for half a season.
-
Frank's desperate for a striker. He's hinting at it in every way possible without explicitly saying it. Likely because he dosent want to shit on Michy. I think Cavani is the one he wants (hence the repeated allusions to short term) but I think the board is saying no due to his age/wages.
-
So wait, we're just going to have a big '3' on our chests? That's....kinda cool, actually.
-
United are after the dude Trump just assassinated with a drone strike? Damn, they really are desperate!
-
The January window has been made completely useless now. At this point it's essentially just used as a means to get rid of fringe players in your squad. Even clubs that are ravaged by injury and are desperate for CL football aren't buying. It's quite possible that we could end this window with none of Chelsea, United, or Arse signing a single player. That's insane to me considering the situations each of these clubs are in.
-
In other words, "there's no value in January." The Wenger rule. We ain't singing anyone.
-
They've got 3 solid strikers on their books and are still pushing hard for Cavani. We've got 1 (who's injured currently) and are fucking around as we enter a hellish fixture list.
-
What a turn around in fortunes for Wolves this season. They were awful in the early stages and people already started calling Nuno a fraud. Now they're back to their brilliant best. They, like Leicester, may lose to the likes of Liverpool and City but can compete with anyone. Raul Jimenez is surely a £80m+ striker now and I can see numerous big PL clubs testing Wolves for him soon. Both Manchester clubs namely.

Dortmund are one of, if not THE most savvy club in Europe. You honestly believe they'd insert a €60m release clause in the contract of one of the most sought after young players in the world? 😂😂😂 Sounds like bullshit and terrible business. He/his agent likely did insist that there's a set release clause. But it's probably like 200m. He's probably got his eyes on Real Madrid in a couple of years.
-
Don't know who would be pissed off more in that scenario, Giroud, the Chelsea fans, or Lamps who drops hint after hint that we need a new forward.
-
I just worry about him on every corner, every set play, and every time our opponent has the ball on the flanks to swing in crosses becasue of his height and obvious fear of coming out to claim anything in the air. Add to that our insistence on stupid zonal marking on corners and super high line on set plays and it's no wonder we concede so many. I just don't belive he's a shit keeper as is the common assessment on Twitter. He was great last season. Once we get Reece + a new and improved LB as well as a settled CB pairing I think we'll see great Kepa again.
-
I'm not nearly as down on him as most seem to be. I'm more angry at the clownish defensive errors and set piece coaching that repeatedly happen in front of him. He has a couple of very clear weaknesses due to his size. You would think we'd be trying to do everything we can to shield him from situations where his seize comes in to play. If we had a better defense in front of him I'm confident he'd come good again.
-
If anything does happen you would think there would be some urgency. Are we going to wait until after another poor result or two? Any new player is going to take a bit to settle in as well.
-
So who is even left as a possibility? Dembele himself says he's staying. Cavani looks off to Madrid. Doesn't look like there's anything left out there that could slot right in and help us.
-
I've heard it mentioned by multiple commentary teams this season. Can't blame them most of the time, but yeah.
-
Emerson is pretty much in the exact same boat as Alonso now. Keep him in the final third and he's dangerous and a weapon. Puts in dangerous crosses in open play and his delivery from corners was great. But he has been totally shit defensively. The one area I always thought he was better than Marcos at. But nope. I'd sell both.
