Getting Kante back is huge. Discovering that Tomori is more than ready to start every week is huge. Getting Rüdiger and CHO back will be huge. We should really not even worry about our boys going forward. Just need to iron out the defending on set prices and we're a top 4 team. We create chances for fun. We'll score loads of goals.

Excellent second half performance. Unfortunately today we didn't have the clinical finishing we've had at other times this season. Tomori, Jorginho, Kante and......Alonso!? All great today. The defending at setpieces is a huge issue, but again we showed some great signs as the game went on. Luckily some of our rivals also lost this weekend. We just need to keep in touch with Spuds/United/Arse as long as possible and hope they bottle it as usual.
-
WE OPEN THE SECOND HALF NEARLY CONCEDING FROM TWO SET PIECES IN 10 SECONDS! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
-
Yeah, for a change Willian and Alonso were NOT the issues for us there. Both were probably our most dangerous players in the final third. Not going to slate them. Yet. Whole second half to play, though.

We aren't playing badly from open play at all. We're causing them problems with our attackers. It's just that we give away ridiculously silly fouls in an area that Liverpool are the best in the world at cashing in. I'll say again like I've said a couple of times in recent weeks - Pulisic should've started this. You see that Liverpool are vulnerable to runner in behind from wide areas. His pace on these long passes we're repeatedly playing can hurt them. Mount is never a natural wide player. Start Mason in games where we dominate the ball and run of play. Start Pulisic when we play the top teams so we can spring the counter.

Cristensen is so soft, man. Always fucking injured. We're dropping like flies here.
-
Set piece after set piece after set piece. It's beyond embarrassing now. Do we not train them at all!?
-
Knew with 100% certainty that they'd score it as soon as the foul was given. You simply cannot give Liverpool those opportunities.
-
Please make us proud, Chels!

Don't want to jinx it here, but my word United look dreadful without Pogba carrying them. So many average players. West Ham look the better side so far.

Man, there's so much hype and buzz about this match. Seems everyone is bigging up the rivalry on Twitter and TV. Being the last and biggest match of the weekend, let us pray we don't embarrass ourselves with everyone watching. No repeat of the City performance last season or something similar. Unlike under Sarri, it's nearly impossible to predict what XI and formation Frank will go with. I think what's most likely is Mount and Willian starting as the wide players. Maximum pressing and workrate to try to force their fullbacks back and prevent them from crossing constantly. We did that very effectively in the Supercup. If Emerson is out we pretty much have to play 3 at the back again or they'll eviscerate Alonso. Salah will feast.
-
They'll have watched City destroy Watford today and know that they'll have to win just about every game the rest of the way to hold them off. So they'll be super up for it tomorrow. Expct us to lose but don't think it'll be a battering. Think Kante will start which should help.
-
Pathetic stuff from Watford. I tuned in here expecting a somewhat competitive match after last weeks results for these teams and now turned it off after 5 minutes.
-
I think both Maddison and Chilwell will be sold for huge fees to big clubs next summer. Leicester are like a talent factory who just keep developing top players and then selling them on. With the emergence and development of Mount and Emerson I can't see us being after either, unfortunately. Can see Arse, United, and City going all out for Chilwell and United going all out for Maddison to replace Lingard and Mata who are average these days.
-
It really is crazy to think that had literally anyone but Lamps been appointed, our side would look dramatically different. Mount, Tammy, Reece James, and Tomori would probably be back on loan after a couple of preseason matches. CHO would almost certainly be at Bayern. The transfer ban has inadvertently secured our future. Had yet another foreign manager come in or if Sarri had stayed none of what we see now would happen.
-
I mean, in both games we've deployed this formation now we've looked very dangerous (in 3 of the 4 halves we've played, that is) and have created tons of chances. This isn't Mourinho/Sarri where at times we all just stood around and waited for Hazard to do something. We did enough in the first half today to score a couple. I don't mind if we occasionally use 3-4-3, though I think as soon as Emerson is fit we'll revert back. What ought to be our biggest concern is how fucking horrific we continue to be at set pieces. We look like we could concede on any set piece that has decent delivery.
-
William was wrong for arguing with Barkley, but outside of that he was our most dangerous attacker. He shouldn't be the one being shit on. Pedro was utterly terrible all game. How can Pulisic, our £70m signing, not come on instead of Pedro who hasn't played in a month?
-
And in typical Chelsea fashion over the past 12 months, we come out after a comfortable first half in which we effortlessly carved through a side and are shocking in the second half. What the hell is wrong with our players!? And where is Pulisic early in the second half to inject some pace and directness? Tammy was invisible but had zero service. We killed them from wide areas first half and then shockingly just abandoned that after halftime. Terrible, terrible loss with much tougher games in the group to come.
-
Both wingbacks are in acres of wide open space almost every time they get it. Need more quality in the delivery.
-
Final touch of quality apart, we look excellent going forward when we move the ball quickly. They can't cope with us in wide areas at all. If Azpi was better at crossing it and picking people out we'd be ahead. It's when we slowed it down that we were ineffective because they have a wall of defender at the edge of their box. Jorginho and Kova are again bossing it in midfield. Good positions taken up by Tammy and some tidy hold up play. Feel like if we continue to play as we have been he'll get a golden chance.
-
Genuinely surprised that we didn't make a single change from the team that finished the Wolves match. Thought for sure Frank would want to get a few others 90 minutes of CL football. Pulisic and Pedro could use the minutes.
-
So frustrating that we continue to pick up important injuries. Seems that each time we get one player back another goes out. Hopefully Rüdiger and Emerson are back by next weekend because they make a huge difference. I think we pretty much have to play with the back 3 again until Emerson is back because it's the only formation Alonso can play effectively in. Guessing we'll see a much different side here than we did against Wolves. Think Giroud, Pulisic, Barkley, and Pedro all come in. Kante will probably be on the bench and hopefully held out for the weekend.
-
Having only watched a bit of Mount when he was on loan I knew we would be getting a tidy, hard working and decent player. I was not expecting him to be as good as he is technically. He's awesome on the ball and goes past defenders with ease. To add to his ability on the ball he also has a tremendous nose for goal. What a stable of midfielders we have on our books!
-
So, so strange to watch a Chelsea team that can score and create chances for fun while being as leaky as a torpedoed ship. It's like the opposite of what we've been for years. Hope Rüdiger is good. His presence and recovery pace was great.
-
Kova in this form is incredible. Absolutely bossing this game!
