The only reason I would say it’s not a disaster is because only United dramatically improved around us. It looks as though City and Liverpool may also only sign 1 player each just like us. If everyone else went crazy whilst we signed only Lukaku I’d be worried. It’s still very, very strange how a club like us that’s been so smart operating in the transfer market have been left scrambling for deals in the final hours when we’ve known for months what the manager’s ideas are.

I’d make a friendly bet with anyone that Camavinga will be Ødegaard mk2. I think this move comes wayyy too soon for him and he’ll be out on loan to some mediocre PL side within 2 years. I don’t think he’s anywhere near Real Madrid quality yet.
-
Saul in and Koundé slipped in at the stroke of midnight tomorrow would be nice.
-
That’s straight up robbery. Dan James, a nothing footballer, goes for £30m. Literally his only “skill” is hitting the ball past someone and trying to beat them for pace. If I had seen a tweet on deadline day saying some Championship team bought Dan James for like £8m I would say “yeah, that’s about what he’s worth.”
-
He’s never going to complain when we’re in such a good moment. He’ll say he’s more than happy with what he’s got now. But it’s obvious from his comments for weeks now that 1 signing only wasn’t his idea.
-
Total outgoings from Chelsea this summer: 233 Total incoming from Chelsea this summer: 1 The club is basically printing money through sales and yet we’re super reluctant to spend on players the manager asks for.
-
I can’t imagine a top class sportsman like Saul would be thinking to himself “nah, I’ll never play there.” I mean, that’s what reports say but I find it hard to believe. Someone like him should be thinking he’s better than Kova (rightly or wrongly) and that he’ll fight his way into the XI. And tbf, if he did regain his best form he’d easily displace one of our midfielders.
-
Just thinking, what happens if the highly unfortunate happens and 2 of our midfielders are injured at the same time? The thought of having to play one of our CB’s there or moving Mount further back is annoying when we could go out and get someone now. Saul, Tchouameni, Camavinga. Someone. Saul on loan with no obligation was the biggest no brainer. I just don’t get why the trigger wasn’t pulled in that one. It’s an absolute no-lose situation for the club. Now we may see him or Camavinga go to to a rival before midnight tomorrow.
-
You really love making fun of his height, huh? 😒 Hasn't held him back from becoming one of the most highly rated young CB’s in Europe.
-
He may be a luxury this season, but Silva will be gone and Azpi has already slowed down these past couple of seasons. Koundé is a player for the next 10 years.
-
How is this stuff left until the very last minute? We’ve known for ages since we let Billy go out on loan that we need another body in midfield. Literally months. The moment Kante was injured and missed the Palace game opening weekend things should’ve been sent into overdrive trying to line up a midfielder. He’s going to continue to pick up niggling injuries. And it has been reported for weeks that Zouma was off. Why would we okay that sale without having it in writing that Sevilla were okay with the fee? This is what makes me feel like there’s one last push for Koundé. Otherwise our negotiators will look extremely stupid.
-
I know it probably sounds spoiled, entitled, and negative but United finishes ahead of us last season comfortably and have added 3 world class players that go straight into their first XI. And they might not be done yet as they could still sign a midfielder which is the last piece of their puzzle. How can we possibly only sign 1 player? Especially when Tuchel himself has confirmed multiple times in press conferences that there are a couple of areas he wanted to strengthen.
-
And yet Sevilla raising the price by £12m is a deal breaker? Makes no sense. While missing out on Koundé this summer isn’t devastating, the problem now will be that if he has another great season in Spain many other top clubs will be back in for him this time next year. We had a free run at him this summer and he was apparently extremely keen on coming here. We’ll probably be targeting Rice who will cost £100m so we won’t have money to spend on him next summer. This is why getting him in early right now made sense.
-
Why on earth would we sell Zouma before any Koundé deal was also sealed and signed simultaneously? 😑😑😑 If you’d have told us at the start of the window that we’d only make 1 signing I don’t think anyone would’ve believed it.
-
If Koundé wasn’t already agreed why on earth would we sell an extremely useful asset in Zouma? It has to be happening, right?
-
Can’t imagine we’ll go the whole window selling off like 15 players and only signing 1. We can challenge for the title with what we have now. But if we’re serious about winning it then we need just 1 or 2 more quality players.
-
Wolves can’t score to save their lives. This was always going to be a smash and grab from United.
-
United will 100% panic buy some sort of midfielder before the deadline. Hope we can pinch Saul before they do.
-
Adama is an absolute monster in the open field. Been saying that in every game so far this season. Does literally everything amazingly up until the final action that lets him down. If he went to a club that has plenty of players who can get it done at the business end he’d be a serious weapon.
-
Was literally just coming here to say this. They’ve been utterly horrendous for the most part attacking wise in all 3 of their matches and will still likely enter the international break top of the league. Spuds are especially annoying because they have two of the worlds ultimate “bail out” players in Son and Kane. The team can be awful for entire matches but one of those two can always score out of nothing and win them games. This is why I had hoped Kane left so Spuds would fade into irrelevance. Now that he’s staying and they’ve made a couple of decent signings they are a top 4 threat.
-
Koundé will probably get announced tomorrow if I had to guess. Any move for Saul will probably come down to the last minute.
-
Kante repeatedly getting unfortunate injuries is why a midfield signing is paramount. Even more so than Koundé coming in. ‘We can make do against small teams with Kova and Jorginho but we will get run through against elite midfields.
-
Bingo. I counted at least twice in the first half where Rom was wide open in the box (once with Mount on the ball and once with Kai) and they didn’t pass it to him. Both would’ve been tap ins.
-
Not even gonna bother watching the rest. Bent fucking refs.
-
To give penalties for accidental hand ball is already ridiculous enough. To also be red carded is scandalous.
