What I’m saying is that Lewandowski almost strictly does his damage within the box. He’s not going to really trouble opposing teams anywhere else. Haaland on the other hand has those signature moves where he gets the ball near the halfway line and rampages forward like a train. His pace and power in the transition game is a huge weapon. You have to always account for him on the pitch. Not sure the same can be said about Lewandowski.

If Haaland isn’t world class idk who is. Lewandowski is often considered the best #9 in the world currently and he rarely “creates something out of nothing.” Almost 100% of his 40 goals this past season were inside the box and many of them were poaching on the end of a teammates good play. Haaland is much more dangerous outside of the box than Lewa is. He’s not yet Harry Kane’s level when it comes to creating for others but he’s not just a traditional target man. He’s certainly world class, though.

What’s probably working against us more so than the price or payment package we can offer is time at this point. We can offer them as much as we’d like but if it’s too late in the window for them to replace him they’ll just tell us to fuck off. And Dortmund seem like the kind of club who like to get a replacement lined up and negotiated before they sell a player. Something we’ve heard nothing about. The entirety of Europe will see them with a huge pile of money and crank the price up massively on any target they go after. Being unable to get rid of all these bums in our squad could cost us dearly because evidently we have to sell in order to buy.

Posting random fan page nonsense now? 😑

I just ask myself, would I rather have Tammy up top or Griezmann? That’s easy. Would I rather have faith that Werner will rediscover his Leipzig form as a lone striker or have Griezmann? Also pretty easy answer. But from what everyone is saying his wages are so obscenely high it’s likely not possible anyways. Lewandowski seems as impossible as Kane. I literally don’t even know who their backup striker is and as we well know they can’t exactly dip into the market and find an adequate replacement.
-
Griezmann is several years younger than Lewa. Old… 😂 he’s only just turned 30!
-
Griezmann would be an amazing fallback option if Haaland is impossible. Really hope there’s some truth to those rumors. I believe he’d mesh extremely well with our playing style and personnel. Can link midfield and attack by dropping deeper to receive the ball, can score worldies from outside the box or be a poacher within it, can score direct from free kicks, and can also dribble past defenders. He’s also unpredictable in his positioning to keep opposing teams on their toes. A Kovacic style loan with buy option would be perfect. He kills it here and we keep him, he doesn’t and we do what we did with Higuain and send him in his way with little fuss.

Great news, indeed. As long as Olé is there they’ll continue to be a “close but no cigar” sort of team. Good enough to beat anyone if they’re in top form but shit to watch much of the time and won’t win the biggest trophies against top managers who play better football.
-
We’re either signing no striker at all or we’re going to pull someone totally out of the blue on deadline day. Someone no one has really been thinking about.
-
Your sarcasm detector broken?
-
Why do that when we’ve got the mighty Ross Barkley? Or RLC? Or so the club may be thinking… 😬
-
So yeah, I was sadly wrong about feeling good this week in regards to incomings. Looks like we legitimately do need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that we won’t sign a single player.
-
If it’s anything like here in America, it’s because you have loads of outraged right wing morons who think you’re “infringing in their freedom” if you ask that they be vaccinated.
-
Without proof of vaccination at the gates of the stadiums there are going to be a load of unvaccinated idiots mixed in with those who are. Which means potentially lots of viral spread.
-
Better for us that Arse are saddled with a average striker like Tammy than potentially signing another really good one like Aubameyang.
-
Isn’t the Delta variant exploding in the UK? How are we going to have full stadiums if that’s the case?
-
Bit strange of Livramento to want to go to Brighton, isn’t it? They just bought a Chelsea youth RWB last year and he was arguably their best player.
-
Ziyech will be great for us this season. Will be glad to see him stay.
-
Are we gunning for the record for most outgoing transfers in PL history?
-
I have this sneaking suspicion that Kane will be a mistake of a signing for them within a couple of years. I predict he’ll continue to get injured again and again. Glad they’re fixated in him instead of Haaland.
-
Bingo. City have Gündogan, Sterling, Mahrez, KDB, etc who all chip in with decent goal hauls. Liverpool have had the two-headed monster who each scored for fun over the past few seasons. We get ZERO goal contributions from any of our 3 CM’s, Mount doesn’t score often, and our wingers were all subpar last season.
-
Bayern would sort of be in a similar position as we are if they sold us Lewa. All of the strikers you would imagine they’d want to replace him with are £100m+ players and they never spend that sort of cash. Makes zero sense for them to let him go this summer. They’re most certainly positioning themselves for Haaland next year where they can sign away a German rivals best player like they always do.
-
Think it’s all a moot point. Why would WH accept anything less than £100m or something? Unless Tammy is involved in the deal. We’d be raving mad to spend that kind of cash straight up for a DM.
-
True. Could imagine seeing a Rice + Kante midfield pairing against teams like City/Liverpool/United and then against teams where we’ll have 80% of the ball we’d switch it up and rotate Kante for Kova of J5.
-
Wonder how we’d even line up with if we bought Rice. All summer people have been talking about Jorginho as an outside Balon D’or candidate (which is silly, tbf) and he has been a key player for club and country. Would be extremely harsh to just bench him and he’s way too good to simply be a squad player getting the odd game. Kante is a nailed on starter of course. So where would he play? Even if we were to switch formation to a 4-3-3 to fit all 3 of Rice, Kante, and J5 we’d be leaving out someone extremely important in attack like Mount. Not to mention Kova would find minutes harder to come by and he’s always great to have in the biggest games.
