Nice. Good enough that any class CB we replace Rüdiger with will slot right in comfortably.
-
Chilwell I’ll give you, but I’ve never got the impression from Timo that he’s dumb. Just sounds kind of shy.
-
Still radio silence from Rom, eh? Is he naive to the reaction of the supporters?
-
I’m genuinely surprised he hasn’t come out with an apology statement on social media yet. Makes me think things are worse behind the scenes than the public knows. If he was genuinely remorseful and wanted to get the fans back behind he’d have said something by now. A January sale isn’t actually possible, is it…?
-
Kova could attempt that finish on the training pitch 1000 times and never replicate it.
-
We could finish 6th if we don’t get a LWB in this month.
-
We’re fucking done. Rüdiger completely falls asleep. Battle for 4th is going to get desperate again.
-
Is Chalobah drunk?
-
When he’s got to make quick decisions Trev panics just like Zouma used to do. Nearly gave a goal away earlier, too.
-
WTF IS THIS DEFENDING?!!! Twice from Chalobah now! Having a nightmare. Both HORRENDOUS headers.
-
Pulisic with the Morata-like composure.
-
Which is scarier, Azpi vs Mané or Alonso vs Salah? If those two are really at it today this could get very ugly. Honestly finding it really difficult to pick out an area of the pitch that I’m optimistic about. Silva is just back from a hamstring and is up against that ridiculously quick front 3. Kova is still rusty as hell after his long injury. Kante has been in and out with injuries. Kai hasn’t played in weeks and Pulisic has been useless lately. Would be an incredible 3 points if we somehow managed it but I can’t see how we do it with this team we have available.
-
He probably just fell in love with being the big fish in a small pond. Was treated like a king in Italy whereas here he gets slated when he goes through a rough patch.
-
I’d agree at any other time but Kai has been out for a while now. Ziyech and Pulisic against Liverpool’s giant CB’s doesn’t inspire much confidence either. Lukaku probably had to be dropped but it’s so risky. Hope it works out.
-
So what happens now? Dropping him for 1 game (albeit a huge one) does nothing but hurt the team. Is he dropped for the foreseeable future, then? Are we going to have a 100m striker who is our best goal scorer on the bench for the rest of the season? If that’s the case we may as well loan him back to Inter with a buy option/obligation or something.
-
While maybe the right thing to do to establish that the manager is the authority, in this case it may be a cut off your nose to spite your face situation. Perhaps if Timo and Kai were match fit you can drop him without thinking about it but they’re both just back from COVID or injury. We need Lukaku in this period. Especially a Lukaku who looks dangerous again these last couple of games. If we lose these next two huge PL games (which everyone probably expects we will) and Spuds continue to win all their games in hand (which isn’t outside the realm of possibilty under Conte) suddenly they’ll be ahead of us. Like Arse, that would’ve sounded impossible not long ago.
-
Both North London clubs just pounding away at all the shit teams and steadily creeping up the table. We wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with them at all right now if we had done the same. 😒😒😒
-
Good result for us. Terrific result if we go and somehow beat Liverpool.
-
Yup. Liverpool may be happy to see Arse win because they’re capable of putting a long winning run together if they hit their stride. But with our injury record right now and lack of cutting edge City are well out of sight. We need to be much more concerned with those behind us than City above. A fresh, 1 or 2 match per week Arse side is our biggest threat right now.
-
When you look at their team as well they aren’t anywhere near the quality of the current top 3, either. They’re just in fantastic form at the moment. And of course City decide to drop a stinker the one time we actually want them to win. Look like they’re hungover from last night.
-
It would be the ultimate humiliation if Arse finish above us this season. Started with 0 points from their first 9 and were what, 12-13 points behind us at one point?
-
Matt Law says no surgery but still multiple months out. And hamstrings (especially severe ones) are the types of injuries that you can easily re-aggrevate. He may not be back to his usual explosive self this season. So halfway through our season the entire basis of our play style is destroyed more or less. Our whole team is built around two athletic, highly dangerous wingbacks who bomb up and down the flanks. The drop off in ability between Reece/Chilly & Azpi/Alonso is so dramatic that we may as well start trying to go to a back 4.
-
Trippier is 31. The exact opposite profile of player we’d target. Even on an emergency basis like this I can’t see it. Could imagine a 6 month loan but from his perspective it wouldn’t make sense as Newcastle will likely offer him a silly 3-4 year contract with huge wages because they’re desperate for “names.”
-
Well, we’re stuck with him until the summer. So what do you suggest we do?
-
Come on. Let’s not act as if Rom has been an unmitigated disaster thus far. He hasn’t been a Torres or a Bakayoko. He has scored some very impressive goals in the PL for us so far and would likely have a handful more if he didn’t get injured and get COVID. After these comments I’d sell him in the summer if he doesn’t come out and apologize. But there’s an actual possibility that he still goes on to score a load of goals from now until the end of the season. We shouldn’t write him off as a total bust yet because we’re angry.
