I said ours and City’s squads are miles better.
-
If they get him I think 4th is a lock for them. Spuds and United are too inconsistent I think.
-
I said they’ll be a threat not league challengers or something. That’s not exaggerating. They look decent now but are desperate for a goal scorer since Auba is finished. Not exaggeration to assume they’ll look much better with an amazing talent added up top.
-
Arse would be a genuine threat this season and beyond if they get Vlahovic. All they’ll really need to address then is finding a proper partner for Partey and then they’re a complete team. Their squad will still be miles off of ours and City’s but they’ll have a first XI that’s very good. Bastards.

Haaland could score 40 PL goals in that City team, ffs. There will be no stopping them from winning the league for the next 5 years if they get him.

We’ve known for weeks, if not a couple of months now that we need cover at LWB. Bit strange that we weren’t already “progressing” things along even before we hit Jan 1.

Dest is certainly a player you’d buy on potential and hoping a top class coach like Tuchel can get the best out of. Being out of the current Barca chaos and into a more structured environment may also help. He’s so young still that I think he can only get better. Wouldn’t be my first choice but he would be miles better than seeing another few games of Pulisic or CHO or Azpi as a wingback.

Adama at Spuds under Conte as a wingback could be scary. As a fan of his I hope it doesn’t happen. And I hope we’re having a look if he’s available and willing to play that wingback role. He may be a shit finisher as an attacking player but he’s almost totally unplayable in space out wide and can beat a defender and slap in crosses at will. He could be a serious weapon in our team with the amount of space our wingbacks get.

Looked legitimately great last night. If he can maintain this exact level for the rest of the season I wouldn’t mind keeping him permanently. I loved his no-nonsense attitude. Didn’t dwell on the ball, popped it around quickly, passed between the lines instead of just sideways and backwards like he did earlier in the season when he was terrified of fucking up. And then on top of his on the ball work he also got stuck in several times defensively to win the ball back. He’s essentially a mirror of Kova in terms of play style but with better passing range. Hope TT uses him from the start more to keep Kante and J5 nice and fresh.

One thing that the co-commentator mentioned and something I noticed a bunch as well was Lukaku getting into great positions in the box, our wide players (be it the full backs or wingers) getting in good crossing positions, and then just refusing to cross it. Saw Rom get frustrated repeatedly that the ball wouldn’t come in. I think he only got like 1 genuinely great cross from Ziyech tonight. Something that needs to be emphasized more going forward. When you have the likes of Ziyech and Alonso who love crossing the ball and you have Lukaku up top we should be pumping it into him from wide as often as possible.

Close to locking this thread with the amount of far right wing misinfo people are posting in here. Some straight up dumpster fire posts that look like they could come from 4chan or some other hell hole. Like the post above…

Special mention for Saul. Improving every appearance now. He looks ready for bigger games in the league now. This looks like the calm, composed, technically tidy player we hoped for when we brought him in. Loves a tigerish tackle, too. We’ve totally bossed midfield. Spuds can’t possibly be worse 2nd half so I don’t expect this to be as easy from now on.
-
Feels like our attacking players need to go HAM here because that midfield and defense could be a disaster if Spuds’ players are at it today.
-
Oh, wow. That’s the strangest Chelsea XI I can recall. Of course COVID fucks us in this ultra congested period. Arguably the two best players in our entire squad get it simultaneously. 😒 Was bound to hit us again.
-
I’m still not sure I see the hype with Tchouameni. He looks like a solid youngster with nice potential but I’m just not seeing the “this dude will become world class” kind of hype that he’s getting. Comparing him directly to Declan Rice I don’t think he’s near that level currently. Of course, Rice would cost 3x the price. But I’d probably be very disappointed if Rice did move to another PL club and we ended up with this kid instead. If Rice can be had we MUST get him.
-
True. Long contract and he’s probably negotiated something north of 200k a week since Newcastle are desperate.
-
Wouldn’t be excited at all about Emerson coming back and don’t think he’s much of an improvement to Alonso. Only thing he really has that Marcos doesn’t is recovery pace when he gets caught out of position. Lucas Digne would at least be a genuine weapon in attack.
-
Wow, that’s only half of what the fee was reported to be just yesterday. He must’ve been offered a massive wage for us to not take a punt at just £12m.
-
😂 Let’s see it on the pitch, lad. He is completely forgiven in my eyes if he scores a few more this month and helps us win.
-
Decent player, but is he Chelsea quality?
-
Pretty weird that not a single question was asked of TT this morning about the wingback situation.
-
This’ll be forgotten about in a month if he bangs in a few against Spuds or City.
-
The reported fee by Romano that Newcastle are offering for Trippier is £25m. For me that’s way too much for a 31 year old fullback. Other than Tuchel mentioning Emerson coming back we haven’t really heard a peep about anyone else. For that reason I think the club will take their chances with Azpi and Alonso and use CHO/Pulisic in emergency cases. Finding a deal in January for one of another clubs’ better players is nearly impossible. In the winter window it seems that you either have to go really big to almost force someone to reluctantly part with an important player (like offering Milan silly money for Theo) or you go really small and try to get a loan deal. Currently there aren’t really any whispers that we’re doing either. God help us this month with all these tough fixtures once Azpi and Alonso start getting fatigued.
-
Thing is now, does he go straight back in? Thought Kai played well yesterday and the energy of the attacking players was very good. Mase is basically undroppable in important matches so I’m not sure how you could then fit Rom and Kai in the same XI.
-
Unless a crazy and unexpected cheap deal for a full back suddenly presents itself I don’t think anyone is coming.
