It's easy to dismiss the point of majority being not against selling as such but selling to ManUtd during January transfer window. We do not need the money, for a club like Chelsea the annual income does not involve selling world class players just to rake in 10mil extra. Juan's image and persona make him a very marketable person among not only Chelsea fans. If we can't use the funds to make a change right away, I can't see the point of intentionally becoming weaker. There are a lot of players leaving the club this summer, do we really need to go through the hassle to look for another decent player?
-
Although we disagree on this matter, I got to hand it to you that you can take everything with good humour, good on you.
-
With all this talk about converting to 433 - what has stopped us from doing so anyway? I mean Mata included in the squad or not, shouldn't make a difference. How did Mata exactly stop Mourinho from choosing his tactics?
-
Mata is a good buy for any club. Waiting till the summer (or selling him to a foreign club this window) could mean we lose 5-10mil but it also guarantees that we won't be helping Utd. I'm not against selling him, it's inevitable, but I'm strictly against selling him to Utd during January transfer window. And if we do, let's hope the the sum we raked in is the reported 40 mil and not a penny less.
-
Mata is a great start for them to rebuild and become a force to be reckoned with next season, don't you think? I mean even keeping them off European places is a win itself due to the prize money they'd be missing out on.
-
Though, is the risk worth taking? I mean I'd like to see Utd struggle for a change. If we do get 40mil, if Mata does not fit in the Moyes' system, if he does not spark Utd to rise from its ashe, if we do actually get decent signings to bolster OUR squad. I mean too many ifs to make it sound solid to me. As an empathetic person I can understand if Mata leaves in order to save his own career, but foremost I'm a Chelsea fan and I only want best for the club. Mata has been great and he has been rewarded for this effort with different winners' medals and nominations. In today's world - and certainly in Chelsea's- the real jackpot is to find a player that would make a change, money isn't as valuable. Like one of the above posters mentioned - there is no way Chelsea would ever not comply with the FFP rules under sugardaddy Roman.
-
The point wasn't how much we will get for Mata if we were to sell him to PSG (though logically it would be in the range of 30mil). The point was - why should PSG sell him to Utd? He would stay there for 2-3 years, he will be 28-29 and still a good player but certainly not someone to spearhead Utd out of this crisis if they haven't already climbed out of it already. If something like this were to happen we ought to -in a sense- be thinking short term, we can't predict what will happen in years to come.
-
Who gives a fuck if they do? 2-3 years is a century in terms of football, maybe ManUtd don't even need him then? We'd be still 30-40- mil richer while not having strengthened our league rivals.
-
Other way is to make a transfer to you and on behalf of them you forward it to the company. edit: already been mentioned by posters up, didn't bother to read the whole thread before quoting - sorry.
-
Am I talking to a brick wall here, mate?
-
Majority of the superstars yes, but keep in mind the club was taken over by Qatar moneybags in 2011 while becoming the sole owner only in 2012.
-
Who knows, but if they splash money on a new signing they certainly won't instantly resell him to another club - which was your point.
-
Are you assuming all this based on some yellow pages? Don't get too caught up in media's fabrications.
-
You must be joking. For the sake of argument, let's say that PSG or Monaco buy Mata for 35-40mil, do you really think they forked out that kind of money just to be a middle man in a grand scheme to poach Mata from Chelsea to ManUtd?
-
As much as this makes sense - what says we don't have that kind of money laying around at the moment anyway? I guess the main point is if we should sell during the January transfer window and give them a better chance at getting a TOP4 finish - strengthening a direct league rival, hindering our own chances of doing business in the summer- or wait out till the summer and see if there is a plan for him or not. As egoistic and blunt as this sounds, club comes first and Mata's world cup hopes shouldn't be a factor here. Edit: From the total of 54 you should subtract Matic's price and see how much is left. There's noone to get for that kind of money with the quality we should be looking for.
-
That's what I meant by underestimating. No Buffon, Tevez, Pogba and Llorente for the most part. Though, they could have made an exception to that policy as they are well ahead of i Giallorossi in the league.
-
Juventus underestimated Roma and got burnt at Stadio Olimpico - 1-0 to the hosts. Gervinho crafted the win for his gaffer from Lille days, Rudi Garcia.
-
A big bonus for a longer season is that you can climb the league table even though you might have had a rough start in the beginning. Plus not having to scrape your remains off the tarmac every other week after a game against one of the heavyweights is also something to consider.
-
Great result, might be flattering us but that's what we need to do - grind out results. Actually feel bad for Moyes, because the way I see it, is that he inherited a weak crop of players that could only give their all for Ferguson. Moyes doesn't seem to have that fear factor.
-
All the best! Can't catch them all I guess.

The only reason good English talent is scarce is because there are no B teams playing in the Championship. FA has set these absurd rules and have shot themselves in the leg in the same time. When it comes to recruiting, I get it - we need the homegrown quota - but Luke Shaw and the left back position isn't the only place to start raising that number intentionally. Chelsea should buy whichever player is best, tinkering with the regulations shouldn't hinder the club's success in the mean time.

7km jog in a chill winter climate (-11C with wind). Loved it, though, in hindsight should have worn warmer clothes.

Serbian FA also say 01.08.1988 (http://www.fss.rs/index.php?id=3317&playid=106) Must be to do with how americans and the rest of the world write dates (01.08.1988 vs 08.01.1988)

I think the admin/mod tag sells. If you or any other staff member would start a new thread / bump the old one, I think people would be willing to give it a go.

Can't we have inactive teams in the lower division? I mean if there is someone who wants to join in in the middle of the season, he can take over one of those teams and practice against 'dummies'. Or you can't start a season without X amount of active managers? And in all fairness, there hasn't been much promotion for XpertEleven for a long time. As TermX pointed out - if Jim or any other popular figure would promote it then we'd be alright I reckon.
