Disruption of minutes silence at Semi
Tomo replied to Changingman_2000's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
While were on the topic i watched the video of the Bradford fire last night and it was fucking shit scary how quickly that stand went down. One minute they were playing the game, the next the fire started in a corner of the stand, it wasn't pretty but it looked controllable and within minutes the whole stand was alight. -
After his 1st season in Camp Nou, he was linked with moves back to England with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. He moved back to England to sign for Chelsea in 2001 for £7,500,000. He initially was a first-team regular for the Blues in a largely disappointing debut season and played in the 2002 FA Cup Final which Chelsea lost to his old club, Arsenal. He scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 2–1 win over Derby County on 30 March 2002. His second season saw a significant improvement, as he formed an impressive midfield partnership with Frank Lampard as Chelsea impressed in the winner-takes-all final game of the season against Liverpool as Chelsea secured the 4th UEFA Champions League berth. He also scored twice throughout the season: against Everton in the League Cup and former club Arsenal in the league. However, after a series of knee injuries, he spent much of his final season of his career on the sidelines, and he was released on a free transfer in the summer of 2004, his final appearance for the club coming against Blackburn Rovers on 1 February 2004. After Chelsea When Chelsea released him Arsenal were going to resign him but they decided not to after having a closer look at his fitness. After spending six months looking for a new club, including a training stint with Bolton Wanderers, Petit announced his retirement on 20 January 2005, when he found out he required a knee operation and would probably never regain full fitness. The ironic thing about that is Liverpool have more plastic supporters than any other club on this earth.

It's nothing to do with him playing for Spurs, i think Modric is the best CM in the league likewise with Valencia on the wing. I just don't think he is world class, on his day he is a handful for any defender but he doesn't have his day as often as we think. Ive seen more games of him being totally anonymous, and by that i mean i didn't even notice he was playing than i have seen him totally dominate the game. Ill take him at Chelsea for a reasonable price, which won't be possible with the ludicrous money that mercenary Levy will demand.

There's football banter and their is hate bordering on obsession. Ive just had a look at those comments and that isn't banter, that's obsessive hatred,

Bale has suffered the same fate as Paul Scholes, under-appreciated for a long time then all off a sudden the world started to realise then it went too far the other way. Bale is a talented player no doubt about it but the comparison's with even the likes of Di Maria and Valencia (the latter is one of the most under-rated players in world football) let alone Messi and Ronaldo are just absolutely upserb.

Came back from a quality weekend away to this, best weekend ive had in some time. What frustrates me tho is why can't we do this at places like Craven Cottage?

Arch rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs go head to head at Wembley for the right to play either Liverpool or Everton in the showpiece final in May. Both sides have had similar results in the FA Cup so far. The 3rd round was about as routine as it could get for both clubs, Chelsea beating Portsmouth 4-0 with goals from Juan Mata, Frank Lampard and a brace from Ramires. Tottenham saw off Cheltenham 3-0 at White Hart Lane with goals from Jermain Defoe,Roman Pavlyuchenko and Giovani Dos Santos. The 4th round saw both sides progress but in unconvincing manners, Tottenham were out played for large parts of their tie against Watford at Vicarage Road but progressed thanks to a long range shot from Dutchman Rafeal Van Der Vaart. Chelsea weren't outplayed in their tie at Loftus Road but the game was very uninspiring and a debatable penalty struck home by Juan Mata saw Chelsea gain revenge for their 1-0 league defeat at the same ground. The 5th round saw both sides forced into replay's. Chelsea were again poor as they survived in the Cup through the skin of their teeth drawing 1-1 to Birmingham City, Daniel Sturridge sparing The Blues their first FA Cup home defeat to lower league opposition since 1991 by cancelling out David Murphy's close range strike that gave The Bluenoses a shock lead. Juan Mata had a penalty saved by Birmingham keeper Colin Doyle in between both goals. The replay at St Andrews saw a new man in the dugout, a defeat to West Brom Albion saw Andre Villas Boas sacked as Chelsea manager, his assistant and Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo took over on an interim basis until the end of the season. He got off to a great start winning the replay 2-0 with goals from Juan Mata and Raul Meireles, the only downside off the night was Juan Mata had yet another penalty saved by Colin Doyle but this time it didn't cost The Blues and Leicester City awaited them in the quarter final. Tottenham also took their time securing their place in the last 8, a drab 0-0 draw at Stevenage saw them forced to a replay where they fell behind after 4 minutes when Stevenage's Joel Byrom scored from the spot. A Jermain Defoe double and a penalty by Emanuel Adebayor in between the brace killed a potential upset and set up a quarter final tie at home to Owen Coyle's Bolton. Tottenham's quarter final tie with Bolton got abandoned after 41 minutes as Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed away from the ball, getting rushed to hospital, both sets of players and fans were unite in stunned silence and Howard Webb ended the match. Thankfully Fabrice Muamba is now on the road to recovery. The game did go ahead a week and a half later and Tottenham ended up 3-1 winners. Ryan Nelsen, Gareth Bale and Louis Saha getting the Spurs goal with Kevin Davies earning a consolation goal for The Trotters. Thankfully Chelsea's 5th round tie at home to Leicester didn't have an incident of the same scale, but with the match being a day after the incident there were constant chants of theirs only one Fabrice Muamba from both sets of supporters. Chelsea won the match 5-2 with Gary Cahill opening the scoring and his account for Chelsea and showing his pray for Muamba shirt in celebration, a nice gesture for his striken former team mate. Saloman Kalou quickly added a 2nd with barely 20 minutes gone to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead which they held to the break. After half time Fernando Torres broke his 24 game goal drought with the 3rd goal. Jermain Beckford, who scored against Chelsea twice for Everton last season, gave the Foxes a glimmer of hope, scoring from the rebounds after the impressive Neil Danns hit the post but that hope was washed away 7 minutes later where the London buses phrase came to mind when Fernando Torres new goal drought lasted all of 18 minutes as he headed in from a Meireles cross. Ex Manchester United youngster Ben Marshall got the award for goal of the day however, with a fantastic strike leaving Petr Cech stranded. Raul Meireles ended the scoring with a good finish from outstanding Fernando Torres's pass. Off to Wembley!

We should have got Modric in 2008, but no we decided a past it Deco was a better option

I try not to have hair cuts when we are in good form. 1 day before we lost 3-0 to Sunderland and 2 day's after our final league win for a whole month, ironically the same fixture this season, a 1-0 win over Sunderland, 2 of the most disastrous haircut's ive had.to jinx our form

Haven't actually been to that many. Stamford Bridge (Chelsea) Highbury (seen nicer public toilets than that ground) (Arsenal) Craven Cottage (Fulham) Madjeski Stadium (Reading) Kassam Stadium (Oxford) St James Park (Exeter) Home Park (Plymouth) Huish Park (Yeovil) Plaimoor (Torquay)

There is a deep lying problem at the club, i think Benayoun is a case of thinking well he's been away for a while so he will just slot back in with ease and we will become great again. Ive seen some comment's on facebook fan page's and other forums saying that we wouldn't be in this shit currently if Anelka stayed, do they even remember the Anelka of last season? he was more frustrating to watch than Kalou and Malouda put together. Same with our mananger's, ive seen comments saying we would be challenging for the title if we kept Carlo, despite the fact we were just as pathetic last season and next season the same will probably be said about AVB if we are playing the same shit next season. Even a massive overhaul won't solve our problem's immediately, it will take time.
-
This season Chelsea have a +1 goal difference in the 1768 minutes Florent Malouda has played. In the 2912 minutes Chelsea have played without Malouda on the pitch they have a goal difference of +38.

David Luiz stats are the best for a defender but it doesn't seem to stop the media, opposition fans and even some of our own saying he's shit.

Can someone who has got facebook message me my score tommorow (it will go straight to my fone) as i dont think ill be around.

Mata has created more chances than any one in the prem, why hasn't he benefited from that? I'd love to be proven wrong but he just looks done.

Nicolas Anelka becomes player-coach at Shanghai Shenhua
Tomo replied to Billy.'s topic in Football Chat
When Anelka played and scored against WBA in August and someone said he will be manager by April i would have shit myself assuming it would have been for us. -
Should we take a punt on Suarez? Yes I know he is a little cunt but despite our current trouble's we look like Barcelona compared to Liverpool and if we make other quality signing's (it's still possible even without CL football) while Liverpool are signing shit English players because of their passport again he might consider jumping ship. Only problem is Liverpool will squezze us for every penny we have, unless we throw Ross Turnbull in the deal then Liverpool will probably be the team paying

Hello, Ron Gourlay here, why would we want to do that when David Villa is available for £70m?
-
Players that could be available on a bosman in the summer Mathieu Flamini Mark Van Bommel Junior Hoilett Tranquillo Barnetta Riccardo Montolivo Ricardo Carvalho Goran Pandev Royston Drenthe Walter Samuel Christian Chivu Raul Jefferson Farfan In bold are the one's i reckon we should take a punt on should they be available for nothing this summer, to add more squad depth if nothing else.
-
EDIT: Shit wrong thread
-
Ive said so many times, Antonio Valencia would have been prefect for us, stretches teams, doesn't mess about, down the byline and ball into the box.
-
I never ever ever thought at any time i would end up praying Paulo Ferreira is playing. How has it come to this?
-
If we are going to get rid of Bosingwa, Malouda, Drogba and maybe even Lampard it's vital we keep the 20's squad players for at-least next season. Kalou, Mikel, Paulo, Yossi and Meireles can still contribute in terms of squad depth, never should be starters for us but if we are getting rid of a lot of the old guard we will need to focus on replacing them with new key players, so we must keep the 'squad players' until atleast the end of next season because it's too much off an overhaul to replace both at the same time.
-
I hope the next Xpert Eleven rule change is we are allowed a bigger squad, should be 24-26 players IMO. Out of interest Alex are we doing a cup competition next term, if so we will need 32 teams and best we start looking for new manager's now.
