Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire
coolhead23 replied to Fulham Broadway's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I hope and sincerely hope that the board/owner has learned their lesson from this season. Like: Sacking a manager who has given u the holy grail and replacing with a manager who is out of job & clearly someone who is not the fan's favoriteRunning behind someone like Pep who was suppose to be an expert in the tik-tak policies thinking that we can offer him money and power... clearly didnt work instead it was a slap on the face of ChelseaPersisting with Torres when we had cheaper and better options available in the marketUnderstanding that success cannot be like instant noodles, it takes time when in transitionThese are just a few which if strengthen by the board would set a blueprint for some real good future ... -
Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire
coolhead23 replied to Fulham Broadway's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
a very good read ... the author has really a gift of playing with his words... agree to most of it. But Roman to sell the club? Honestly how many us were supporting Chelsea in the pre-Roman era? He has really taken this club to heights which no one expected. I agree his idea or rather the board's idea is all like the instant noodles but we cant overwrite the fact what he has done. Yes there is a immediate shift needed in the personals who advising Roman or are a part of the club's advisory committee at this point of time. We can just hope and pray that it happens at the earliest. -
Every team is reliant on someone or the other to be honest ... "Had we" "If" and "But" dont really count and if everyone starts using it then everyone would be on the top today ... And to alter to what u said, it is surely their inconsistency which has placed us 3rd so far else we would had been struggling at 5th or 6th (damn the had beens) After looking our performance all season specially under Rafa, there is a big gap of where we should look to finish and where we would end up... It would be a miracle supported by the other chasing teams if we even get 4th this season. Honestly i dont give a damn about where Spurs ends up but i like to credit the deserving ones ..
-
Till when would we keep hoping for that .... I think Spurs deserves the 3rd place to be honest, they are trying to make a good team slowly and steady and that credit has to be given to them. I m worried about Arsenal more ... they are the ones who are putting some bad display but the worrying factor is that we are putting up an even bad one ...
-
As much as i agree that Terry and Lampard have very much past their best and not worth the 300k/week wages however they are ones who represents stability within the club (both can very well be tagged as Mr Chelsea in today's era) and importantly brings in the experience that is so very much needed at the time when the team is transition. We just cant have a young team without good experience and leadership (Arsenal is the biggest example who were fools not to capitalize on the invisible season) and for me these 2 are the front runners when it comes to experience & leadership.
-
Pathetic would be a better word in reference to our performance today ... Except for Cahill i thought no one was interested in playing the game, we were falling like 9 pins out there ... Yes the manager is biggest s*** but the players have to take the blame equally, we could have put in a team of school boys and there would had been more heart in that game ... Disgusting!

Are we going to finish in the top 4? - Achieved!
coolhead23 replied to Styles's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
And so the slide begins! Knew that we wouldn't finish top 4 just want to see how much we drop off .... If we manage it in the top 4 this season it would be largely due to the support of the other teams ... -
Come on mate, we have already broken the bank one too many times (got used to it now) ... I m disappointed as well but atleast we got in a striker which was very very important ... Going forward i dont think we would be spending the same way we have done in the past ...
-
I know but still .. they mite be just saving it for the best (yet to come) ... Atleast an Interim manager doesnt have a say in the signings!
-
Guess we didnt go for any more signing in Jan comes down to the fact that the club doesnt feel that Rafa should continue beyond this season... so no point showing Rafa "the Money"
-
You Bet! I know my mate who is a United fan and he kept telling me Rafa would come to Chelsea and destroy us like he did to Liverpool (he is United agent), i use laugh at him stating that we are a sensible team ... until Rafa got selected from that day till today and till Rafa is there I havent been able to tell him anything .... His new theory is that Rafa goes to Madrid, Jose to City and Manchini to come to Chelsea ... After Rafa's incident i really dread our management to do something as laughable as Rafa ... i really dont trust I swear i will take a sabbatical from football till such fools are there at the helm ....

Good and honest opinion which is pretty true! Best thing of us to happen was an ambitious owner but then that ambitious is probably bringing the downfall too ... Solution of the entire chaos is that the Board gets in a new manager which needs to be given power rather used as puppet, the new manager needs to be given time and not target to met ... give him a free run for a season and let him built a squad which is unbeatable .... And then sky is the limit!

Looks like someone's gonna explode once the contract ends! Would really want to know the other side of the story. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8494197/Chelsea-s-Florent-Malouda-ridicules-club-for-ongoing-exile-from-first-team

Completely agree on it .. like some said "Spot On" ... At 34 he is still a handy player if used well and his experience is vast but i believe there is more emotional values linked with his extension than anything else. My only worry or concern if Lampard doesnt get an extension is that he could very well end up at United which would be the biggest slap on our faces.

Players You're Gutted We Never Signed
coolhead23 replied to The only place to be's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
How can Modric not be on top after Augero (he just skipped out of the mind completely) ... Just imagine the current midfield with Mata, Hazard, Modric, Oscar, Ramiers, etc with a toss of Augero to it ...... -
Players You're Gutted We Never Signed
coolhead23 replied to The only place to be's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Hands down, has to be Augero in the recent past. Everyone of us were so sure that we have him at the Bridge and then the U-turn, would love to know what actually happened. It really pains to see him playing at City, even painful when he tricks the defense and puts the ball in the net. Reminds u of what we got! -
Just waiting to see what is the patience level of the owner and club management now ,, after all they appointed Rafa when no one wanted him to be at the realm ...

The question here would be has Mourinho changed and would he adapt to our philosophy? So far i havent recollect him giving youth (academy kids) a chance to shine in more or less his entire tenure. Dont get me wrong, i m a huge fan of Jose and always would be, i would dance with joy if he comes to the Bridge again but like i said before there is a part of me who wouldnt want him here because then we go back into the same loop from where we started the Roman era.

If considering that we got Oscar is a mistake then i believe having this thought in the first place is a mistake in itself. Oscar might not be a finished product but he is surely up there with the potentially good players. I think we have an unpolished gem which with proper care can go a long way. He bring another dimension in the team, someone who can play behind the striker or fall back deep into the CM position, quite versatile. One thing that he has in his arsenal when compared with Mata and Hazard is that he can defend better. Yes we paid a little bit over (thats what we always do) but then it is better to have a 20 yrs who cost us 20 something during transition than spending 40odd if/when he is a complete package. At the end of the day, it is an investment that has been made. Now how we nurture our investment depends completely on the club.

Rafa, why the f*** are destroying Ryan's career?

Seeing the below current contractual status, we do have decent team for the future. All we need is a decent manager and the patience of the owner.
