He almost scored twice I know but that was largely down to other players laying those chances on a plate for him. The first was down to Drogba and Cole and the second was all Anelka's handiwork. Yuri did play a few nice passes early on but imo he wasn't much different from what Malouda is week in, week out. When I looked at the team sheets (Blackpool and yesterday), I was excited to find Yuri's name on there because I figured he would give us an extra spark in midfield...driving runs, mazy dribbles, a bit of creativity and pace...but I was disappointed to find him tucked inside far too much. The Zhirkov I saw at CSKA and last year while Ashley was injured didn't turn up.

Zhirkov making us all look like fools. We were asking for him to be given a chance and it's the second game in a row that he failed to turn up. I'm indifferent to the choice between Zhirkov and Malouda from now on.

At the end of the day, no opinion is right or wrong per se. I understood and respected your points then, and do so now as well.

I'm concerned about Drogba's future. Not his future per se, but I fear that if he goes, the entire French speaking contingent (Malouda, Anelka, Kalou, Essien) will become unhappy and it will reflect in their attitude and performance on the pitch. Already I reckon Louda and Kalou have been ignoring Torres, which I think is down to DD being on the bench more often than not.
