LMAO. POST OF THE SEASON!
-
I know all the FM wonderkids as well, but hey, out of all the mentioned above, Inigo Martinez, Romagnoli and Marquihnos aren't THAT amazing. It's biased, but Stones has the potential to be better than them. I have no outlook on Jimenez and Umtiti, but Laporte seems like the only one on the list to actually have a higher ceiling, but it depends on development. Just to add, that out of all those mentioned, only Umtiti and Laporte may be available, not to mention that Laporte has said he wants to stay at Bilbao, before he finds a club that will make him first choice, directly. So, out of all mentioned, Stones seems like the most reasonable choice. Yes, he has a demanding fee, yes he is HG and English and that overhypes him, but he is still quality. Let's not react negative, because of the typical British-media-hype.
-
He won't EVER be better than Pogba. Despite different styles of play. To the people that rate him highly than Pogba: "You don't watch Pogba regularly", I'd say.
-
Think the idea is that first he'll be a starter next year, when probably JT won't be either. Second, he can manage to throw himself in attack and manage to get back in time, if he the attack fails. Azpi is slower than him, tbf, so I wouldn't be surprised if he could manage to do the second point. Berty wanted to leave and Brana was great in his first season, so it was better he left. I think Baba would be a really good addition and will be immensely underrated. Ofcourse, that is my opinion.
-
They want 22-25 mil. euro, which is close to what we're getting for Filipe. So, no problem, with that. Plus he's you make him sound like he is jack shite, when he actually is pretty good and has immense potential. His workrate and crossing ability are the reason we're getting him, imo.
-
I made the weird transformation from a Left Back to an Inverted winger(Mourinho type, cut inside, shoot) and due to the fact that we had to run like crazy on both positions, our first 10 - 15 training sessions were mostly running. Touching the ball was basic short passes and some long ones or shots here and there. But mostly running, you could never get out to get a ball without having at least 45 minutes running, stretching, running, stretching. Makes me sad, I was a tad unlucky. Anyways, anyone have extended highlights? With Remy, Oscar, Diego's misses?
-
I'm sorry I'll go in meltdown mode again, but have any of the moaning guys actually set foot on a full length pitch? Ever actually had vacation and come to pre-season? If you did, then do you realize the first games are ALWAYS about building fitness and stamina levels in order to get in rhythm. It is never about the result and it never will be. Touches will be sloppy, we won't have the same amount of pace and speed in our build-up play, but that is how it is, as they probably haven't kicked a ball for a month. I didn't watch the match, I only saw the goals, but no matter how many misplaced touches the lads do it is only going to grow on them and make them improve. You're pathetic and I personally am ashamed. That being said nobody has to read into that, I couldn't care less, either. Oscar played the full 90 after suffering from injury, having a break and still managed to work hard and bag two assists? Not bad. Not bad, indeed.
-
Never compared the two in position, what are you on about? My idea is that that money can be spunk on Bale and would be a better addition as we need a RM more than a CM? Do you even try to think outside a box or just quote anything you don't like?
-
He wants 220k and Juve want 90mil. How exactly would transfer be an easy one for the club. I know Pogba is amazing and he'd take us to the top, but 140 million? Rather get Bale.
-
His attitude really deserves plaudits. He wants to drop a great season and I'm hoping for it. If he keeps his consistency, he'd be great!
-
What most people fail to realize is that most Serie A clubs don't have IMMENCE financial backing and often balance the books by loaning a player for a simple fee now and getting him next summer when they have the power to spend. It's a thing in Seria A to loan players with the idea to buy next season and to Co-Own a player. This would mean that if we loan Salah to Roma, it's probably because Roma have decided to invest money on something else and Chelsea has no problem to receive money from Salah next year. We've put a 22 mil. euro price tag which isn't easy to cover from their perspective.
-
Add to this the fact that he is still 20 and has room to develop he looks like a gem. Hope he either grabs amazing chances and benches Brana or waits one year of his development, because I'm confident Jose won't be playing with a 33 year old slow CB at RB in a year. lol
-
This. People are rating Kalas way too highly. I'd say give Christensen a shot, and we probably will. No reason not to have him, Stones and Zouma + an ageing Cahill in due years.
-
He isn't leaving this window.
-
ON what exactly? And I very well know Ivanovic and Cahill's weaknesses. To say Cahill is isolated, when his backing off is one the reasons we have received a couple of goals and overall his man marking is pretty shite. His tackles are good, yes, but in 2 years time Stones will be better. Varane is not a must buy talent. The fact that he is in Real, makes it enough to make him cost a fortune, not to mention that he is incredibly overhyped, due to good aerial duels and pace. Something that comes hard for a normal CB.
-
I'm sorry in advance for getting personal, and I'd probably get warned for this, but you're from Canada, you're footballing highlight is Junior Hoilett, ffs. Overall, @lionsden had the best opinion here. People are taking the english factor WAY too far. Stones is amazing. His intelligence is something else, but ofcourse, he's English, so he doesn't deserve the hype. When in all fairness, half the english players would have been good if handled by the right coaches.(Exclude Lennon, Carroll and other wood like that)
-
Far as I know, he is a "Romanista" born and bread, alongside Florenzi, De Rossi and Totti. He has immense potential, so I doubt he'd be coming here, and I prefer Stones.
-
He plays a lot with the ball, is pretty speedy, not that much, but still. and has a lot of leadership in him. When Everton were...well...pathetic in defense, their fans cried for John Stones to be played. He made a great partnership with Jagielka and was really bossing the back with his intelligence and awareness. He has an eye on when to tackle and when to make run. He's said it himself he wants to be a mixture of Terry in terms of leadership and quality, and Ferdinand in terms of determination and hustle. Imagine him, RLC and Solanke in our first team eleven. I'd melt.
-
Because he'd demand immediate first - team action, isn't a young "potential future England captain" and has one really big season behind his back, while Stones is impressing. It's a gamble for Stones, and a gamble for this guy too. He'll block Zouma's development 100 times more than Stones.
-
Most logical thing for this transfer would be to buy him now and loan him back. I don't feel he'll get the necessary playing time, unless we sell Cahill, which isn't going to happen, due to the HG quota. Unless Jose finds a way to start forming a partnership between him and Zouma(1), rotate Zouma at DM, with Cahill and Stones in the CB roles, by selling Mikel, in the cup games that is(2) or gives him time playing as a RB also, just to make him get as much game time until Terry retires. As much as I love Terry, I feel this will be his last year and Stones coming in now, would hinder his development. I'd absolutely love him here, because I think that him, Sterling and Clyne are the standouts in England right now, but I've said that a million times. Overall, there are ways Stones can play with Zouma/Cahill and I believe signing him for 20-25 mil. would be a good shout. Especially when years ago, SAF bought Phil Jones. Not to mention he'd flourish under Jose. Even if this means Zouma going somewhere with direct first team football, it also isn't bad. So, it's a tricky situation, but the club has to think it through, and they are deffo. better than me.
-
In Bulgaria we celebrate spring with the coming of March and a folklore lady called Baba Marta(Grandma March, basically). So, that would have been something, wouldn't it.
-
If we buy from Schalke, I hope it's Max Meyer. Give Draxler a season to get back on his feet.
-
I see a lot of moaning in this thread, so I'm going to spill hate once again, because again I see people with little to none knowledge of him and are basing his opinions on his CL games. First, he had a worse season this time and last season was probably one of his best, in terms of overall play. Hence, why his price fell down. Second, he is tailor made for Mourinho, on the field, yes. Off it, he drinks a lot, parties a lot, gets himself in trouble of couple of times and is often a big character in the dressing room. Just don't realise the moaning. I'd love Vidal here, but some of the moaning here is way over the top.
-
Good point. But, let's just agree to disagree, because that is my opinion. I had really high hopes for him, but he was more inconsistent than Ozil.
-
How does that not prove my point on him being a flop here. He didn;t have his greatest moments here and you know it's true. Even if he asked to leave in January, the words that "nobody believed in him" don't guarantee he wasn't going to be sold in the summer. Half of the forum wanted his head, anyways. He flopped here, because he was the next big thing since his Mainz days, was good at Bayer and never really made the jump here. Pedro is a class above Schurrle. Whoever denies it, really needs to look at how he plays.
