  2. While it is quite uninspiring, I actually think he'll be fine. We know the head coach role is much more limited in scope than old style manager positions, so the damage he can do is already minimised, and it seems he is very strong tactically like Maresca was so I suspect it is at worst a sideways move there. His decisions will be micromanaged just like Maresca's were. They'll continue to get their way on player signings, and how many minutes which player can play. Then it is whether he can sort out culture and mentality, not sure he can do any better than Maresca did, but time will tell - maybe he has a bit more of a chance there tbh. And in game management, and talking to the press (and a closely related topic of building a relationship with the fans), which were the two obvious flaws in Maresca similarly its unlikely he's any worse. Imo it is pretty much a sideways move and not much will change. One great hope of all of this is that we have a huge problem IMO with Cole Palmer that is not being spoken about much (as he's English), he's been bang average for a long time now and if Rosenior can change the guys role or whatever is required to get him back to being the best player in the world then obviously that would be a huge positive for us, I do think Maresca is partly to blame for Cole's drop off. Maybe another man, even if tactically similar, will have a different perspective and find a way to get Cole back. p.s. Gary O'Neil will be our manager in 18 months I guess and on and on the cycle continues.
  3. The one upside to this is Chelsea cannot ruin my weekend vibes with Fulham on a Wednesday. If they fail against Charlton on the weekend, the last little bit of hope will be snuffed out.
  4. A lot of their points fall apart on basic scrutiny. For example While he did want a centre-back, he was unwilling to sanction departures to create space, and no suitable option emerged following the pursuit of Dean Huijsen. Liverpool found themselves in a similar position. Liverpool almost signed Guehi on deadline day and Arsenal signed Hincapie as backup, PSG signed Zabarnyi. There were plenty of options.
  5. Kobbie Mainoo no longer wants to leave Manure after Amorin is sacked https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/01/06/man-united-star-changes-transfer-stance/
  6. Where has this narrative come from all we do is buy and sell players for profit? Who exactly are these players your talking about?
  7. I am questioning how important a coach actually is after listening to Reece and Enzo say the players just continue regardless If a coach can actually be revolutionary in tactics and motivation, all well and good In classical music so many performances are just as good, if not better without a conductor. 😉
  8. We need to do this - cant just write him off. Give it a few days...😁
  9. lol Romano going into Fichajes bullshit overdrive in this new year period
  10. Incoming Chelsea boss Rosenior wants English star as his first signing at the club https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/01/05/chelseat-want-english-star-signing-january/ Chelsea have moved quickly to usher in a new era, with Liam Rosenior set to be confirmed as the club’s new head coach, according to a trusted source on X. The appointment marks a decisive shift in direction at Stamford Bridge, with the club opting for a progressive, modern manager who has impressed across Europe with his work in player development and tactical organisation. Rosenior arrives with a clear vision and an immediate focus on stabilising Chelsea’s project following a turbulent period. Following the departure of manager Enzo Maresca, the Blues are looking for someone who can take the club out of the current crisis and Rosenior, after his impressive work at Strasbourg, has reportedly won the race to become the new Blues boss. Chelsea could target January move for Marc Guéhi One of his first priorities is understood to be strengthening the defensive unit, and that has brought Marc Guéhi firmly into the spotlight as a potential January signing. The England international, currently captain of Crystal Palace, is highly regarded by Rosenior for his leadership, composure on the ball and ability to play in a high defensive line. Guéhi has long been admired across the Premier League, and Chelsea’s interest is not new. The defender is a former academy product at Stamford Bridge, and his development since leaving the club has only enhanced his reputation as one of the most consistent centre-backs in English football. With Palace aware of growing interest from elite clubs and Guéhi approaching a crucial stage of his contract, January could represent a pivotal moment. However, any deal is far from straightforward. Crystal Palace are under no pressure to sell cheaply and will demand an attractive offer to even consider letting their captain leave mid-season. Guéhi would transform the Blues defense Guéhi would represent more than just a defensive upgrade. He would be a crucial signing, someone capable of organising the back line, mentoring younger defenders and fitting seamlessly into a possession-based system that prioritises build-up from the back. Chelsea’s hierarchy are understood to be open to reinforcing the defence in January if the right opportunity presents itself, but they are equally prepared to wait until the summer if Palace’s valuation proves prohibitive. The Blues are expected to face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City in the race to sign the Palace centre-back.
  11. Hope I am wrong, but I think this will be a harsh wakeup call to some people, that Maresca was actually a good coach. I just dont see this working out well. But yeah, he deserves a fair chance, even if I wish it wouldn't have happened. Not his fault the board are clowns. Doubt the contract length will be much of an issue, they no doubt got some clauses in there if/when they fire him.
  12. What a load of horseshit, anyone falling for what these have said are as naive as they come, they are constantly just buying time. Effectively saying we will look to do this in the summer. Was the same last summer and the one before. Crock of shite.
  13. at least I hope we will see gusto, palmer and reece in a proper position
  14. I will keep saying it, its cronyism at its finest, yes. We all laughed at United with ten Hag and signing players from his agency also…. looks like we have our very own scenario 😂
  15. I am 100 per cent backing him atm. I hope he does great things and elevates the club despite the board's too-often-poor decisions.
  16. With a good break-clause, it is fine I think. Gives the belief that we have long-term goals
  17. Gary O’Neill, Rosenior's replacement at Strasbourg, is represented by Wasserman Agency. Wasserman also represent former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, incoming manager Liam Rosenior, Mali Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu and until Summer 2025, former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. Close links to current director Paul Winstanley as well. The next time someone tells me this board is making decision by "analyzing metrics", I'm just gonna take it with a pinch of salt. There is now a growing body of evidence that they're just doing deals that are easy business-wise instead of thinking what is important football-wise.
  18. 6.5 year deal? The state of this club is astonishing.

  20. We'll improve by just not doing dumb shit like heavy rotation of the back 4.only picking players either on current merit or belief in their ability to grow.not bigging up players but then by actions of holding them back contradicting what you have said about them. Help transition of talented young players into the first team.some of which that are in the squad already, some at Strasbourg.they have the talent.let them grow.young players having a short leash whilst veterans making mistakes get a long leash is Marescaball. We'll see on those but I'm confident he won't be such a disaster in interviews or be as negative, stuck ridged to tactics and selections that aren't working. No need to predict how it will pan out. #CarefreeProperChelseatothecore
  21. Was a 6.5 year deal really necessary? Not exactly like we had to had to pry him away from another organization he was basically on the payroll already
  22. Let’s be honest, regardless of how well he comes across, it is a poor appointment. Young English head coach or not, it reeks of cronyism & I don’t think anyone else will be quaking in their boots at the proposition of us appointing this guy. He says he will give everything… he will have to. He has a lot of winning over to do. Ultimately, nothing will change unless the structure, recruitment & ambition shown by those above changes. And given the lack of pedigree Rosenoir has, he is going to be the easiest one for BlueCo & co to manage because he has no real skin in the game, is already someone they have managed in France so to speak with forcing his hand with using certain players. So it is not really going to be any different, probably worse in that regard because Maresca, Poch, Tuchel beforehand wanted more from them. As @Special Juan said, he has to get all the players to buy in from minute 1 & that is to have any chance of making it beyond the end of this season, yet alone past that. Ok performances may improve but they couldn’t get any worse at times with Maresca. And still, this appointment, it is not going to appease 2 fanbase’s that are sick & tired of BlueCo. Even if he by some minor miracle is a success here, the distain with them at Strasbourg has been there for 12 months plus. The Tuchel, Potter, Poch & even Maresca scenarios from certain angles have shown huge incompetence. That huge cutting of personnel that first full summer also. The link with BlueCo has undoubtedly got to end when that 10 year period is up.
  23. I think the only way he gets people on board and believing in him is if we miraculously turn things around completely the rest of this season and finishes with UCL football. We could at least then convince ourselves that we’d have something to build on. But even if he does that these guys above him will go wild doing silly bullshit in the transfer window.
  24. Never easy against them, never mind our current poor form Sneaky 0-1 would be nice....fancy a draw 1-1
  25. I wish him the best but doesn't stop me thinking this will be a very short term appointment and this gig will be way too big for him I want him to prove me completely wrong, but the egos and some players in this team will be way to much. From the first team meeting he has to get this lot and I mean everyone on side from the off, if a handful leave the room remotely thinking "who the fuck is this guy" it's game over, he has to nail the first meeting and have them eating out of his hand.
