  1. Past hour
  2. No European football next season. If current form holds
  3. He's won the league in one of Europe's top 5 leagues. Is there someone with PL manager experience who has the body of work of Alonso?
  4. and Pep....Arteta and Alonso used to live in neighbouring streets
  5. ''The Sporting Directors ? No, no Xabi, they don't interfere at all''
  6. Makes sense from his perspective. He's been looking for a way into the Premier League and we are the biggest club where there's a job opening this summer. Premier League is now the league of a handful of managers from Basque country - Arteta, Emery, Iraola,
  7. 3rd manager we have had this year...hopefully he can bring some joy back to us!!
  8. Let's hope he's given the autonomy to his project, and there's a semblance of back to consistent winning Many managers first foray into the PL is chaotic. Glad you're excited about it. I can't, sorry, but well done.
  9. there was a point i thought Palmer could reach legendary status here, but lately he has been disappointing to say the least, not showing up when we most needed a spark, maybe he is not fully committed to Chelsea like we all thought, but then again i can't fault him because the club has been a big mess so far and not challenging for top honors can affect a player's mentality. Not going to make excuses for him or any player that's not fully committed to the club, because regardless of how shit we are, the proper players can give a damn and perform. Players like Kovacic, Havertz, Jorginho, Rudiger, Christensen, Mount, etc who all left when the club was struggling will never get my respect regardless of the trophies they won with us.
  10. Today
  11. Now official Alonso new manager on 4 year deal
  12. I wonder what lies and shite he was told in the interview?
  13. We will know where the club is headed based on the transfer window movements. If it's the same squad next season (minus potential outgoings - Cucu/Enzo), I would expect a 8th to 10th place finish. If players are actually shown the door and the club is ruthless (Delap/Garnacho/Tosin/Badi/Wes), Alonso may have a chance of rebuilding.
  14. Imagine someone paying even 100 million for Cole right now 😆 He went from goalscoring talent to missing penalties and looking like an average player so quickly. Maybe the United links got to his head
  15. First of all Welcome to Chelsea Football Club Xabi Alonso, second, i have my reservations, based on the shit show we have been subjected to, so i will wait and see how we do in the summer transfer window and start of next season before passing any judgement. Cheers
  16. I would love it if that happens, and I will give Xabi the benefit of the doubt because of what he has achieved so far. But I'll believe it when it see it. The belief of the fans has been burnt too many times in succession, to the point where people can't bring themselves to watch the games. Like DDA and others have mentioned, this is all direct consequence from the actions up at the top. The worse thing is we don't know how far reaching some of those consequences are. The worst thing the fanbase can do is become complacent and accept the new normal. Chelsea needs consistent performances on the pitch to make gains. These make a big impact on the telecast driven finances, and this affects everything. Finishing outside of European spots every other season is poor for a club that has invested so much.
  17. £2billion spent and the current squad is what we have to show for it? That is beyond piss poor. Not miles of competing? We are 9th in The League, 30 points off the leaders. That is literally the very definition of being miles of it in footballing terms.
  18. We also haven't replaced JT, Cahill, T.Silva, Azpi at CB We had Werner, Havertz, Mount up top against City in the UCL final and yet our attack got worse over 5 years. Jorginho - Kante midfield is better than what Enzo - Caicedo are trying to do
  19. Colwill had a point to prove with Tuchel in the stands watching on. He's every chance of getting in that WC squad.
  20. The problem is, we have too many of them in the squad. Tosin, Garnacho, Delap, Gittens, Badi, Disasi on loan, Gusto with his braindead moments.
  21. I hardly do that. There have been plenty of growing pains. This place just needs balance from the constant crying from yourself and a few others. Acting like everything that has been done is piss poor is just disingenuous; furthermore acting like we are miles off competing is also even more from the truth. Football is fickle, and while a lot on here were creaming their pants at the "amazing" signings Liverpool made last season and how they would be a force for a while - you can literally find posts of me saying they made average moves and didn't move the needle. Not that I'm always right or close to it - but football turns on a dime. We've literally been hovering around 1st/2nd place before falling apart mentally due to tedious shit. A good manager and some stability will make us a good team. Getting some defenders and better players than the likes of Garnacho will make us a better team. Getting a manager like Xabi will make us a better team.
  22. Of course zero chance now with no CL.
  23. These are the little details that will make or break next season..
  24. And you will do anything to gaslight people into thinking everything is a positive. Let's just admit that most of this speculation at this point. Alonso might not be the best, but BlueCo could have done a lot worse in terms of the managerial appointment. If the rumors are true, he will be more than just first team coach and actually have a true managerial title That to me, if true, would be a difference maker. Anything to reduce the influence of Joe Shields and his cronies.
  25. Sources indicate discussions are currently centred around how Alonso would integrate into Chelsea’s existing sporting structure. Importantly, we understand Alonso is NOT demanding total control over recruitment or football operations. Instead, the 44-year-old acknowledges Chelsea’s current model has already assembled a hugely talented squad that requires only targeted additions to become genuine Premier League title challengers. Nevertheless, Chelsea are prepared to adjust elements of the existing working structure in order to address remaining concerns and ensure Alonso feels fully supported in the role. https://www.teamtalk.com/Chelsea/xabi-alonso-agrees-next-Chelsea-manager
