  1. That was an easy "fix" and the republicans, some of which hate Trump, dropped the ball. Trump should've been forbidden from running again early on. I'm not a big fan of big pharma in the USA, so a little disruption wouldn't be so bad.
  2. I don't disagree; I'm not interested in the merit of it (giving him more or less say) that much--just what may have taken place. Same could be said about Lavia: his one PL showing was a nightmarish one. I'm sure the club saw some quality in his game, but it also applies; he did not "dominate" midfields in the PL, and only did better in championship.
  3. I will bite. From afar, I think there is no comparison. Brexit felt to me, and from colleagues who lived through it, was just a case of too many thinking "me, me, me" and not receiving, or considering, the full picture. Trump not only had a large disinformation machine, but he himself as a Billionaire who will represent the working class is a laughable idea. How they managed to convince people that Harris, an actual worker, was the elite, and that the Billionaire who inherited all the money from daddy would help the working people is really beyond me. Not even going into all the criminality that went under the rug: Jan 6 and "find me 11k votes" were very serious.
  4. Yes, I was not referring to what I find optimal, but what I thought happened. Still, we are talking about a single signing here, not 5 players asked by Maresca, afaik. So, the club probably trusted the manager given that he supposed to know the player well. Caveat for me is always that he was not playing PL. I personally find Lavia pretty meh so far, but it's too soon to pass judgement given the season he had.
  5. That was on Maresca. Club probably assumed the manager knew the player well enough.
  6. well, good thing we have no idea about what he really believes; lying is pretty much a requirement for the job. At least he's an army veteran tho.

  8. One of the best non-fiction I've read. While I'd still recommend (Yuval Harari's) Sapiens to believers, I'd not recommend the above. 😅unless they want to use it to test their faith.
  9. "It's hard to miss" not really... never heard of it.
  10. Yeah I read it, and I don't agree with the notion that "they will be the ones running in the future." I don't care about that. Either this was an emergency, and for me it was, so all hands on deck, or it wasn't and we can thinking about the future political career of Liz Cheney. Whoever was horrified and did not go out to vote because of that, shame on them; enjoy 4 more years? of Donal Trump.
  11. I live in a blue state that remained as blue as ever. Even CA moved red a bit, but not here. yes, it’s anecdotal, but I haven’t heard from a single person here of any complaints regarding that. While I agree there are multiple different things at play, I’m just skeptical that embracing the never Trumpers was one of them, so agree to disagree on this one. personally, I actually am very much in favor of reaching across and establish conversation. More polarization helps no one.
  12. For example, I don’t buy #1. It’s Harris they did not feel exited about no one else. Obama could kiss Liz one the stage and the crowds would still go out and vote for him. we also need to to factor in the similar message in Congress.
  13. I will partially disagree with Vesper above. Agreed regarding the social media aspect, which is undeniable and isn't a new problem. I wrote long time ago on this thread, that Harris wasn't a very good candidate. I confess that I expected Jan 6 to have a much bigger, or ANY!, effect in this election, but the GOP and Trump managed to completely control the narrative this time around--see point above. Migrants from South America are difficult to handle by dems: they tend to be very religious (GOP advantage) and are used to have a "strong man" as leader/president (current favors GOP). They don't like open borders, because they are afraid that the next batch of illegals (or not) will take *their job* or at least lower wages (abundant supply). Woke is a complicated term because it is a good thing, an idea about inclusion. Then there is the various forms of *implementing it* which is what are IMO incredibly unpopular. GOPs most effective ads, usually during NFL games, were about ID politics. DeSantis has become very popular in FL just going after ID politics and little else. For this reason, I'm not very optimistic about midterms in 26, unless the Trump administration itself becomes very unpopular--a possibility too.
  14. Good result-arsenal is the better team atm.
  15. Arsenal are better now. Left D is exposed wouldn’t mind a point here.
