Interesting Fact: AVB used the Fifa Manager videogame series to scout and learn many aspects of being a coach. (FM is widely recognized to being very accurate).

Is that really true? Because a couple of months ago someone on here mentioned that but when I searched up about it nothing came up.

Fifa manager? It was probably Football manager. That game is sick! Couple of gigabytes of PURE statistics. There are no textures, sounds or videos that usually make a game big.

Where you got that from, I'm really interested?

Since I'm learning from FM, I may as well become the next Villas-Boas :eyebrows:

Haha I tried playing it but I don't know it felt like there was too much information and it got a bit boring, but I am definitely going to try and give it more of a chance.

You do that. The game is absolutely amazing, though it takes some time getting used to. Anyway, I'll stop with off topic now

The thing about him scouting via Football Manager was a rumour/joke running around circa 2006.

According to an article on The Independent in 2004, he could actually visit the training ground of the team we were about to play to gather information and created multiple video presentations for both Mourinho and the players. I don't see how him using FM could be regarded as anything but a gag.

Terry07, I was probably the one who mentioned it during the season.

He was at Chelsea, how you barely know him?

He was at Chelsea, yes but he was just a member of staff. Just because i support Chelsea doesn't mean i know all their staff personally....

The transfer of André Villas-Boas to Chelsea will be launched on Tuesday by FC Porto.Chelsea will immediately pay the 15 million contained in the termination clause of the coach, who Monday was still in Portugal, but will travel to London, where he will sign the contract.

The financial part was of course one of the factors that led Villas-Boas to accept the proposal of Abramovich, together with the fact that the coach was understood that this could be the opportunity of a career and Chelsea is a club that knows the inside after having worked there for three years, including the technical team of Jose Mourinho. With a young coach, goes to the London-physical trainer Jose Mario Rocha, as Daniel Sousa, observant opponents FC Porto last season.

Guardian's Portugal journo Tom Kundert on Five reasons why Chelsea want André Villas-Boas as their new manager

I've highlighted the part about his abilities as far as transfers are concerned for future reference.

3 Transfer nous

The 33-year-old has less contol over transfers than he would in England due to the way Porto is run. They have an unrivalled scouting network in South America and a well-oiled backroom structure – and it is often the president, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, who oversees transfers. As such, making the most of the market is one test Villas-Boas is yet to take.

Oh wow.. Porto supporters are raging..

FUCK YOU TRAITOR!!!!! FUCK CHELSEA MOTHER FUCKERS YOU STOLE OUR COACH
From now on please FCPorto, don't ever do business with Chelsea again. And you, André Villas-Boas, you go to chelsea and be their special one, because for us (porto supporters) you will never be special. Just go, and fill your pocket with money : )

THE ONLY THING WE WANT IS FCPORTO AGAINST CHELSEA IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SO WE CAN JUST FUCKING RAPE YOU.

the way he left i feel like he slapped us (porto supporters) across the face, he said he was in his "dream chair" and he would stay at the club for more 15 years, still he leaves like this, 8 days before the start of the pre-season. I am aware he would leave the club eventually , but like this.... it's sad

It goes on and on.. I almost feel bad..

Lmao, like a great man once said, this is football... they will get over it - can't remember who said it though whistling.gif

Edit: But i do understand how they feel though, first we took Mourinho and now about to take Boas and probably their best striker.

22 pages have been done here today??!

Anyway what a briiliant move, fucking brilliant. Hiddink is probably a bit old and i have a feeling Roman FINALLY wants a long term manager. It's either pay €15m to get him out of Porto or give him €15m euro's pay off getting sacked after a year.

I had a feeling that we were targeting someone else because Gourlay was saying a few days ago that talks were going very well and we'll get a new manager soon, even within a week. Now.... The Hiddink stuff was going all over the show with the Turks so it certainly wasn't with Guus because those talks hadn't even happened. He was still deciding whether to stay at Turkey or not.

Villas-Boas is young (Fuck me he's the same age as Lampard :o!) and he's gonna have fresh ideas and will learn and learn. This has to be a long term idea. Fucking excited so much. I'm sure he has some players to bring with him too :) i'd love Falcao but with Torres and Drogba i can't see it. Hulk... really a chance, he plays as a winger right? Boy we need one (or 2) of those.

Feels like when Jose came. I don't wanna compare because it's unfair maybe but he has so many similarities with the main man. This is such a good move for our club.

totally agree

about someone he will bring, i agree falcao is great ( i know i just see him from youtube) he si pure striker

especially his jumping header is great, but like you said we already have torres & Drogba for the first choice targetman

hulk is really more right player what the team needed than falcao

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AYv2Wuirhk&feature=related

hulk shooting attribute is great, powerfull

he have determination, technically good

his body is good enough too for epl

he can place for 2 position in the wing

right winger as inverted winger or in the left
