Can only really speak about the game I really paid attention to, Brazil vs Belgium quarter finals in 2018; yes, Eden played well, pulled good counters against one of the weakest RB Brazil has ever employed (he played in the Brazilian league at the time ffs), but it was KDB shooting from afar that won the game. 🤷‍♂️ https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1296533/Live/International-FIFA-World-Cup-2018-Brazil-Belgium
Ah yes, KDB was MotM in that game for most people (and sites), myself included.

Belgium never became a top tier team despite having a few top tier players in their "golden generation." you really need 11+ elite players to win a WC and Belgium never came close to having that IMO.

Literally all the headlines from that game were praising Hazard and Lukaku.

Scoring the decider will always put you in good stead for the MOTM though. Again, against France, Hazard carried and KDB disappeared.

I'm not saying KDB isn't great - he just wasn't as impactful as Hazard. No shame in that.

Its far easier playing for City than it is Chelsea. They've always had a more talented team than us even when we were winning titles against them. They've just been better managed as a club on an all around level for maintained success and continuity.

If Hazard had ended up on Man City or Liverpool - you'd be talking about him as just under Ronaldo and Messi.

That 2014 Germany side didn't have 11 elite players and the same can be said about Argentina's world cup win as well.

You just need enough quality in key positions, which is what Belgium didn't have.

Hehe spurs will get smashed. The same way we clicked at the end they have switched off.

in Brazil we call it, “virou o fio” as in the fitness levels started a descending curve which is affecting all aspects of their game plan.

there is no recovering from this. Good for them there aren’t many matches left eh.

Sure but the weaker players will hurt your chances.
Germany 14 was pretty rounded team and had good options on the bench. Argentina had Messi and number of strong players who were unknown then like our Enzo and Alvarez, macalister too.

The big WC winners have the know how and a lot of strength in depth. Sometimes they lack quality, but the depth is usually there.

smaller countries like Belgium and Portugal  always struggle with the depth part. I knew that Ronaldo wouldn’t be enough for Portugal at the WC for example.

Spuds just getting smashed

would LOVE for them to lose the rest and we grab 5th (thus no way Manure can fuck us out of the Europa League with an FA Cup win)

although then I will be enraged that the EPL lost that 5th CL spot

Will Ferrell becomes latest Hollywood star to invest in English football club

Will Ferrell has become the latest Hollywood star to invest in an English football club, the PA news agency understands.

The American actor, 56, has bought a stake in the owners of Leeds United Football Club, 49ers Enterprises, joining the likes of Gladiator actor Russell Crowe and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.

Ferrell is also co-owner of Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC and revealed he was a big fan of English football during a trip to watch Manchester City beat Aston Villa 3-1 last season.

Think he should always wear his Elf costume every game
