So no De Rossi?

Without context it's hard to say whether he meant our only target this summer is Rooney, or that he's the only striker we're after. Considering Romeu was told that he'd be behind both Essien and Lampard, as well as the fact that Mikel is probably staying put, i'm inclined to believe it's the former.

After seeing Chelsea this afternoon, another striker is definitely needed.

Even though, Roonski is not my cup of tea, but somebody must be bought if Chelsea really want to challenge for CL, PL this year.

Forget him and go for Yilmaz or (i can't believe im saying this) Suarez. A mix of im that desperate not to see us sign Rooney and i don't want to see Arsenal's side strengthened means im breaking the previous stance i had on Suarez.

Had the same thought myself. To be honest I hate to see us do any kind of business with 'pool, especially after the Torres saga. However if a striker is to be brought in this window and the club have an actual interest in Rooney then why not just look at Suàrez who would CLEARLY be a better option. With his situation at 'pool I could see an eventual deal for him being haggled down to £35M if the player were to force a move at the end of the transfer window. Would constitute MUCH better value for money imo.

quickie for you guys, one slot left, de Rossi or Rooney? Go...

I'd probably go De Rossi.

We showed last year that we can get goals from all around our squad. We were. Overrun far to often in midfield, so De Rossi for me.

I want both please! Dear Santa....

Mourinho talking openly about a bid for Rooney on the club's official website is exactly like last year when Ferguson admitted they had made a bid for Van Persie but Arsenal wouldn't sell. Look how that turned out. ;)

To me, Mourinho's approach to this has been spot on. First he made a subtle hint of his interest by saying it's for the good of the national team that Rooney leaves and by doing that he also gained support from many neutrals who want what's best for England. Then he has gone on to unsettle the player even more by admitting a bid has been made and that it's now up to Rooney and Manchester United to react to this bid. The way I see it, the ball is now in Rooney's court and if he's serious about leaving he must hand in an official transfer request, thereby waiving any loyalty bonuses and such. That's the only way they're going to sell because clearly it's the player's decision and not the club's.

This is happening, people. Things have been said and there's no turning back this time. Rooney is as good as gone and I can't see anyone else getting him than us.

Are you guys sure Mourinho answered yes to a question whether Rooney would be the only player brought in for the remainder of the window? Very strange thing to say this early..

Site is fine now, i guess! But yeah, i ll keep that in mind!

He's gonna cost us £80m...£28m fee plus wages. That's as heavy as the fatso himself

Well worth it if we won 3 titles over the span of his 5 year contract. Think he's good enough to help us do that.
