"That was to be expected in many ways but what was most surprising was the lack of support for Ancelotti coming from the stands during the match.

There were no banners to be seen or chants sung like when Claurio Ranieri and Guus Hiddink were about to leave the club, albeit for different reasons. Even Avram Grant got more acclaim three years ago when everyone was sure his days were numbered despite guiding Chelsea to the Champions League Final."

Poor journalism this. The whole article contains one significant fact - the result, which incorporates goal times and the mode of scoring - and several assumptions and sylogisms, not always correct.

In fact, there really WERE banners (I counted four) supporting Carlo at the game.

And no, I am not a Chelsea fan.

And no, I am not Carlo either.

But yes, I do like to see good, well constructed, well thought-out journalism, not the cheap drivel you see here which would have taken an average hack less than ten minutes to put together.

This is lazy sports journalism at its most typical. It's all so simple to blame the manager for mistakes made by the owner and board, who released 5 big name, high wage players leaving the squad short of experience and then went and sacked the assistant manager quarter of the way into a season to replace him with the head scout. If Ancelotti had won the title this year he should have been remembered as one of the game's true greats.

I was at the game yesterday. the reason why we didnt stay was because we was once again given a half hearted performance from the players, for all the money ive paid out to them this season i wanted a good performance from them to say thank you. if they had played well and won then im sure the fans would have stayed and thanked the players. plus we had to wait 15 minutes for the players to come back out which was a joke! Also every true chelsea fan does not want ancelotti to leave, he has one more season on his contract, lets see what he can do to turn it around! if you really want to tell the world what chelsea fans think of carlo you should come and ask us before and after the games, not assume that we want him out because we didnt hold any banners? ps you obviously werent at the game to hear the mathew harding section shouting carlo's name on his lap of honour! Any danger of a story about how the chelsea fans want him to stay?

Villas-Boas ignores Chelsea

Porto boss focusing on building a legacy with current club

Villas-Boas: Linked with a return to Chelsea

Any hope Chelsea may have had of luring Andre Villas-Boas back to Stamford Bridge appears to have been dashed after he insisted he remains happy at Porto.

The 33-year-old has been reported as a possible successor to Carlo Ancelottispacer.gif if Roman Abramovichspacer.gif decides to sack the Italian this summer following a trophyless season.

Porto plucked Villas-Boas from Academica Coimbra to replace the hugely-experienced Jesualdo Ferreiraspacer.gif at the end of last season and he has not disappointed, claiming the Portuguese Super Cup before winning the league unbeaten with five games to spare.

Villas-Boas would get his hands on his third piece of silverware with victory over Braga in Wednesday night's Europa League final in Dublin before having the chance to add a fourth with this weekend's Portuguese Cup final.

Very happy

Chelseaspacer.gif are reportedly monitoring the progress of a man who previously worked alongside Jose Mourinhospacer.gif at Stamford Bridge.

But Villas-Boas insists he wants to try and emulate Mourinho's achievement of making Porto a force to be reckoned with in the UEFA Champions Leaguespacer.gif next season, rather than leave for pastures new.

"I am very happy at Porto. It's the city where I grew up. It's my home club and I don't see it easy to leave it," said Villas-Boas.

"We are focused on winning the Europa League and next year we will go into the Champions League.

"You cannot say that by reaching the final in the Europa League you will win the Champions League the next year (like Mourinho did). It's not that straightforward.

"Next year we hope to get through the group stage, then maybe the quarter-final or further. Let's dream a little bit more."

I keep saying it, and i say it again. Right now there is no better coach available out there to replace Carlo. This coach defs. attract my attention, but he is not ready to move.

It is why i still say Chelsea should keep Carlo till this man is available. Otherwise it will be the stupidest thing Chelsea ever does to fire Carlo and get a lesser coach.

He obviously isnt a fool and has seen how things are done at The Bridge

If Carlo gets fired, then most top managers should not accept to come to Chelsea.

Why should they waste their time with this low class club?

We fire your assistant half way season, and we fire you after your second season.

Why???

Sorry, but it will be foolish for any top coach out there to come to Chelsea to replace Carlo.

Sadly the truth, and it is why you won't get someone passionate as SAF or Wenger to do their job at Chelsea. They will be there for the money, and the money they can get to buy players.

A mercenary club we are.

It will always be the same as long as Roman owns the club. However, where would we be without him??

Roman only do what he things is the right thing for the club. He is not a mercenary, until now all he did was lose money with Chelsea.

People complain that we sacked so many managers in the past:

- We sacked Ranieri, and then Mourinho came. Now Mourinho is considered by many as a Chelsea legend. So, sacking Ranieri wasnt a mistale.

- Mourinho was sacked because he didnt get along with Roman, he wasnt sacked due to bad results. We cant blame the board or Roman...everybody knows that Mourinho is a difficult character, he also had situations with Inter and Real Madrid's board.

- Grant and Scolari were sacked, but none of them are missed. I'm sure few people in this forum will say that the club was wrong firing both.

If Ancelotti is our current manager is because we sacked all the rest. I'm sure that if we we finally win a CL with another manager nobody will say "oh dear, we should have kept Carlo".

Good point there.

So in all your glory, can you enlighten us who should lead Chelsea?

Certainly Villa-Boas can't be it, cause he is not available this summer.

Who is your candidate? Who is the one that can do a much better job then our current manager????

What Im trying to say is: people who want Carlo staying seems a little bit too extremists to me. I'm believe that Carlo is competent enough to lead us to a CL trophy or a PL tittle next season, or even both. But because a number of reasons I believe the right thing to do is look for another guy.

But people supporting Carlo always come up with things like this:

"I will lose all the faith that I have on the board"

"We will become mercenaries"

"Sacking Carlo is laughable"

"Nobody will want manage Chelsea anymore"

"We will start from point zero, if we sack Carlo"

"The world will end if Carlo is sacked!!"

If Carlo leave or stay, we wont start from point zero nor the world will come to and end.

The club has a long term project and its not necessarily related with keeping or firing a manager. Luiz, Torres, Kakuta, Sturridge, Josh, Piazon, Ramires, all of them are part of this long term project. Regardless Carlos' fate we will stay as one of the strongest clubs in Europe.

Ok, but who is better then Carlo, that can do a better job?

You keep saying sack Carlo, but you can't sack a coach to get a worse coach, to only fire him after a season or so.

It has to be someone good.

So who is it???

there is only one coach who can play free flowing football (roman wants that) , winning football , and get along with roman. He is golden Guus

Yeah but he is old men.

He said he does not want to coach club no more, so have to look elsewhere.

My candidate still is Bielsa, but people say he is another Scolari......

I rather take my chances with Bielsa then someone like Rijkard or Van Bastem!

What worries me more than Carlo's firing would be his replacement. The club at time has exhibited the tendency of having a brain fart by sacking top managers and employing people of the caliber of grant and to some extent scolari. Who is to say they wouldn't do the same by employing emanelo considering not many managers are available
