They have been a mixed bag in recent years & other teams around the world are closing the gap; RM faced two Asian teams in their FWCC triumphs whilst Inter beat an African team. One thing that let us down back in 2012 was underestimating teams, but I don't see that being an issue this time around. One thing that let us down back in 2012 was underestimating teams, but I don't see that being an issue this time around. we didn't underestimate on 2012 we smashed a really good Monterrey side in the semis and had the utterly rotten luck to face the best non UEFA side (that Copa Libertadores-winning Corinthians team) since the Brasilians won the first 3 FWCC's plus fucking Rafa had a poor game plan, that cunt other than Moscow 2008, that 2012 final haunts me the most of any final we have choked on. with the 2008 League cup final loss to spuds 3rd (only because it was spuds and the way Cech choked and then the last shot of game we hit the post) and of course the last two are the two pen shootout losses on the Super Cup, to Liverpool in 2019 in pens, then 5th, then pens loss to Bayern in 2013 it is just horrid to be the only UEFA fails since the first 3 FWCC's if we win in December and had won in 2012, we would the all-time best global comp English side Manure would have 2 global trophies, but 2 finals losses too, when they collapsed at the 2000 FWC, crashed out in group stage, which is still the all-time worst performance for a UEFA team and they were beaten in the old Intercontinental Cup in 1968),. Liverpool are even worse, they are 1 win, 3 losses in global finals, and Forest and Villa lost their only global finals, in 1980, and 1982, respectively plus we would have tied Real Madrid with 22 total trophies since 2004 (but still tied for 4th overall, trailing Bayern with 36, Barca with 35, and PSG with 30, although ALL of PSG's are easy domestic league trophies, they are shit at Europe level) English sides are terrible in global club cups only 3 wins and 8 fails (7 of them finals losses) including the only group stage crash out by a UEFA club Spain is the best with 11 wins 4 losses in global finals (7 and 1 in FWCC finals, with Barca losing in 2006 to a super Internacional (Porto Allegre) side (the last of the 3 Brasilian victories in a row, and last ever UEFA loss, until we choked in 2012) Italy has 9 wins, 5 losses in global finals Brasil has 10 wins, but 9 losses Argentina has 9 wins too, but 13 losses, including no wins, 4 losses in FWCC finals Germany has 5 wins 2 loses in global finals Uruguay 6 wins, 2 losses but all were in the old Intercontinental Cup, and the last time a Uruguayan team (Nacional, who were 3 and 0 in finals, Peñarol were 3 and 2) won was 1988 The Netherlands are 3 and 1 (Ajax 2, Feyenoord 1, and Eindhoven lost their single IC final) Portugal are 2 and 2, Porto won the IC twice (including 2004 the very last IC ever, and after Mou came to us, and they barely beat the worst IC club finalist ever, Once Caldas, in pens after a 0-0 bore fest ), Benfica lost both their IC finals the only 2 other countries to win any Paraguay (1 win, and lost 2) and Yugoslavia ( 1 win no defeats, Red Star Belgrade in the 1991 IC) Edited August 28, 2021 by Vesper
Vesper 30,178
Ronaldo's record-breaking goal, stoppage-time winner remind us that no one does drama like Portugal's captain https://www.espn.co.uk/football/portugal-por/story/4467139/ronaldos-record-breaking-goalstoppage-time-winner-remind-us-that-no-one-does-drama-like-portugals-captain FARO, Portugal -- If anyone is still wondering whether Manchester United are getting a Cristiano Ronaldo whose best days are firmly behind him, just ask the shell-shocked Republic of Ireland players who thought they had denied him a goal-scoring world record in Estadio Algarve, only to see the Portugal captain smash it and then add to it in the space of seven crazy minutes at the end of a 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory. Nobody does remarkable football drama quite like Ronaldo, but this historic night in Faro was up there with all of the great moments of his incredible career, largely because, for 89 minutes, he was having one of those nights when everything seemed to be going against him and his team. But at the end of it, he had claimed the international scoring record solely for himself having been locked on 109 goals alongside former Iran striker Ali Daei since netting twice against France at Euro 2020. "I'm extremely happy, I needed one goal and I've scored two," Ronaldo said. "I'm very happy for the two goals that gave us the victory and for breaking the record. "This record is mine and it is unique. I'm extremely happy and it's another one for my career. It's about motivation and the desire I have to continue playing football, also from this last contract I made, in which I was happy to return home. highlights https://soccercatch.com/matches/17680703/portugal-vs-republic-of-ireland#media Edited September 2, 2021 by Vesper

Very sad that this is our reputation because of ~100 idiots.. Hope will be no incident just a good game tonight, will attend.
