I played a match while trying to pay attention to that and the physics behind it doesn't seem, at least to me, too different from the previous versions overall, but when you switch to manual passing and shooting you do get the feeling that ball moves very 'realistically'. But I don't think it's very practical to play the game that way.

The manual mode must be the portion of the game they worked on. The article was in Scientific American and discussed how in previous versions the ball would travel at impossible angles/speeds. Apparently they had not calculated in the Magnus effect and the 14 version does hence the ball curves more realistically then in previous versions.

Also can't say that I noticed a lot of difference on my ps3 version. I don't know on which console Choulo played, but I've heared there are quite a few changes for the next gen versions (ps4 and Xbox One). Maybe the difference in ball physics is only noticeable in the new console versions. I could be completely wrong here as I don't know much about this. If Choulo played on next gen than ignore my comment .
