Sneijder is better passer than pastore who can feed Torres. Pastore is great with individual brilliance. But now as Sneider snubbed us we should move to Pastore

What I don't get about this "sell mikel/essien" argument is the fact that we're trying to add something that's missing from the team and not trade parts of it for something else. If we were giving up someone who was no longer contributing/contributed like Quaresma or SWP it would have make sense to sell them...

Mikel gives the ball away cheaply?

You're either blind/braindead/bitter or too apologetic of bigger name players like Essien and Lampard if you're gonna say that. Ridiculous.

Come on Max. He's not that far off the truth.

For all the great qualities Mikel has (and he has quite a few) giving the ball away is one of his major weaknesses. Can be worked on though.

Mikel's ball-retention is nothing short of superb. Have you not seen how skilfully he finds his way out of tight corners while multiple opponents hound him? I could provide you videos reflecting this, but I can foresee idiotic remarks like ''youtube makes anyone look great"

His major weakness is that he is a little immobile and ungainly with his challenges, though he is improving in the latter aspect.

Like I said.. He has good qualities. Control & composure are some of them that allow him to work that anchor role very well.

However he does lose the ball stupidly at times, I've seen him doing it a couple of times every game he plays. That being said, he usually makes up for it by being great at other things, like interception and man-marking.

I know it's irritating to look up the Sneijder thread and find a Mikel debate, but I simply had to post this in response to the frankly false claim that his ball retention is poor :

And while we're at it, Lampard and Essien are miles worse at control and distribution, let alone retention.

My last post re Mikel in this thread.

I'm agreed with Madmax here. He may give the ball away a few times, but this year Lampard and Essien gave the ball away far more time than Mikel. And at the opposite of them two, Mikel doesn't look like a hopeless newborn when under pressure.

Claiming "Mikel gives the ball away too easily" is aki'n to " messi has zero close control" or "xavi has poor passing ability".Ball retention is Mikel's biggest strength, no one on the team does it better than him and last season, Drogba, Essien and Lampard (in that exact order) were the most culpable for the team's lackluster ball retention.

Wow the mikel debate still goes on. He's strong, talented and could be world class with the games and he does get out of tight situations well often too but at the moment he gives the ball away in very stupid places and is occasionally caught sleeping. It's the basic simple things that let him down too often like he takes them for granted or takes it too easy/relaxed. That's how i see him, like my opinion or not, that's exactly how i see Jon Obi Mikel. He will improve, he will cut these things out of his game eventually but at this current time, as i write this on Friday 10th June 2011, he has those flaws in his game. Think it was Sunderland at home where he had an absolute nightmare. When he cuts these silly errors out, not all errors because no one is perfect but the stupid ones, he'll be a great player from a good player. At the moment, he's a good talented player who has lots to learn. END!

Now Sneijder, back on topic..... He's not coming. Close it.
