Ever since we have lost our old guard, all these youngsters are very talented, but somehow, they are limited overs players, not test players yet.

With our old guard, their achilles heel was the bouncer.

It seems our youngsters' massive weakness has been exposed for the first time. Swing bowling.

However, crushing defeats and im sure there will be a massive shuffle for our test line up next time around.

Always better to have a few test specialists in the team, and not have the exact same team playing t20, 5050 and tests.

IMO thats too many overlapping styles, and with the way it is, IPL and all that, this bunch ends up playing loads of t20, 5050s and tests withing 4-5 months.

In a way, im glad we got spanked. A bit of a positive reality check for these youngsters.

While saying all that, good job to the england team. You have some great bowlers there, however, the way i view england is that their consistency is absolutely zero.

Next test series they might get thrashed by SA or someone.

It always seems unbalanced. Either it all goes perfect, or it falls apart on a grand scale. If england can find a middle ground they can become a strong force again.

"If you do not want to be playing Test cricket for India, quit. Just play limited-overs cricket. You should not be embarrassing your country like that
Everything about England has been top-class. But, India have shown jelly-like resistance. Therefore, England should not get carried away because there are sterner tests to come"- Sunil Gavaskar.

Lot of talk about Dhoni now supposedly considering his test match future. Considering he was one of India's brighter stars in this shambles, I'd be worried about who would potentially replace him. Kohli is off form and was catastrophic, the series captain in Bangladesh (Raina) hasn't played test cricket in a while and it more or less leaves Ishant as the most senior figure in the India team. I do believe hell would freeze over before he becomes the captain.

Let's hope India salvage some effin' pride in the limited-overs series now. I'm heading to Edgbaston for the T20 on 7th of September, they better put on one hell of a victory. Raina, Rayudu and Shikhar should all be up for that one, especially Dhawan who's got those big knocks in him (though he didn't show that in the test matches ffs).

Completely echo with Gavaskar's sentiments - these fuckers have no desire to play Test cricket for India so let's tell them to fuck right off back home to their fucking IPL franchisees. The boys in the comm box would've done a better job - even Sanjay fucking Manjrekar. Test cricket is sacred to me and it really, really hurts to see it being treated so disdainfully. This is like the 90s all over again ... but back then at least we knew we had no 'talent'.

Dhoni out can only be a good thing for India because he will be replaced by Saha, who is by some distance a better wicketkeeper while at test level offering close to what Dhoni does with the bat. There's also the added bonus of appointing a new and most likely better captain.

I think it's very unfair to Anderson to suggest that there was something shady going on or that India are just complete crap away from home. He bowled extraordinarily well after the Lord's test and there isn't a batting lineup in the world that can repel Anderson when he gets the ball to move. There's no shame to being destroyed by him in his own country, for an inexperienced Asian team. What is truly inexcusable is the lack of fight and the defensiveness shown after taking the lead. You can't sit on a 1-0 lead in a five test series.

Phil Hughes knocked out by bouncer at SCG

http://www.news.com.au/sport/cricket/phil-hughes-knocked-out-by-bouncer-at-scg/story-fndpt0dy-1227134397193

THERE have been distressing scenes at the SCG this afternoon, with Test hopeful Phil Hughes knocked out by a bouncer and stretchered from the ground.

Ambulance officials confirmed he was in a critical condition.

At least three ambulances and a helicopter were on hand to treat the 25-year-old and transport him to St Vincent’s Hospital.

The opposing Blues players rushed in to help their former teammate and called for medical help from the dressing rooms.

Doctors attempted to resuscitate the South Australia batsman on the wicket and stopped the medical van on the boundary to continue treatment soon after.

The NSW Blues released a statement saying Hughes had been taken to hospital via ambulance.

“A full statement on his condition will me made once assessed by doctors,” it read.

South Australian batsman Phil Hughes in critical condition after being hit by bouncer in Shield game at the SCG

Phil Hughes is in critical condition after being knocked out by a bouncer while batting for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales at the SCG.

Hughes had made 63 out of a Redbacks total of 2 for 136 when he was hit in the head after misjudging a ball from Sean Abbott.

Footage showed Hughes bending over before collapsing onto the ground. He was taken off the field on a stretcher before receiving medical treatment.

A medical helicopter landed at the SCG to allow expert medical staff to assist Hughes.

Doctor John Orchard - Cricket Australia's chief medical officer - treated Hughes on the scene and travelled with Hughes to Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital where he arrived in critical condition.

St Vincent's Hospital spokesman David Faktor told ABC NewsRadio that the cricketer was in a critical condition in intensive care.

"He's undergoing diagnostic scans at the moment and then following that a decision is made to either go to surgery or go to intensive care that's about all I can say," Faktor said.

Play was abandoned for the day following the incident.

Blues bowler Trent Copeland, who was at the ground but not taking part in the match, said it was a frightening moment.

"Immediately you could tell that something was wrong, the players around him were freaking out," Copeland said.

"From what you could sort of see from the sidelines, (it was) not nice, and it seems like he's been rushed off to hospital and having a bit of trouble breathing."

Hughes was one of a number of batsmen in line for a possible Test recall following reports that Australian captain Michael Clarke had been ruled out of the first Test against India at the Gabba.

Clarke, a close friend of Hughes, arrived at St Vincent's shortly after the incident.

The 25-year-old Hughes has played 26 Test matches for Australia and has scored three Test centuries.

He has not played Test cricket since Australia played England at Lord's in July 2013.

More to follow.

What's the point of posting this? Remove it please. It was just an unfortunate occurrence and nobody's fault. It's a heavy, unfair burden on the young guy who bowled the ball.

hey Madmax you don't know me or do not know my thoughts on the situation and you are acting like I don't know what happened. do not mistranslate the context of my post. don't find or make up what you think what I mean't by my post or what you think my post mean't. I saw what happened and I watch the video of the incident and I played cricket also. so don't talk to me like that. I was adding as much detail on the situation and the people involved and the detailed info on the people who were the 2 main people involed in the match. I get to the point. I don't think like the world or I am not weak minded. we humans all going to die and every 6 seconds a human has to die. the media has brainwashed everyone into only caring about famous and rich celebrities or professional sports people. things happen and we move on.

here is the video if you want to watch the moment it happened.

WARNING content is also hard to watch.

just incase you want to see the video.

you don't have to watch it.
