They're hardly troll replies, 53/54, they are very pertinent points.

Judging a player from statistics is a harsh assessment. Van der Sar, statistically, has been the best goalkeeper in the league this season, whereas Cech and Reina have been exceptional and far superior.

i wonder if maybe part of JC`s problem has been that he`s too versatile..those kind of players seem to not get any further than the fringes of our team.

if we were back to the days of only being able to have 3 subs then he may have been more involved by now because of that versatility but with seven subs, players like that get overlooked. i wish Chelsea had just given him a chance at one position and let him grow into it but with no pun intended, on what he`s been able to show them (through no fault of his own) is that he`s a "jack of all trades, master of none"!

he could have been so much more than that by now tho and like Zolayes i too have pretty much given up all hope on us giving him a proper chance.

would not surprise me in the least if we tried to sign him back in 4 or 5 years time for 4 or 5 times the price we will probably end up letting him go for.

of course we are not judging a player solely from statistics. statistics is jst 1 of the components.

wouldn;t it be nice if he had a good portfolio of statistics that proves himself?

that would even be more convicing for carlo or the board to retain him

Absolute disgrace that he is being let go without being given a chance for our first team. Would have been fantastic squad player for us and is a very good footballer. Don't understand the logic of this one.....

Same old story Esk. How many promising yoof have we seen let go ?

Think it goes back to the same old chestnut of the board wanting/needing the ready made finished article in terms of personnel if silverware is required at the top level.......

The fact is that all but the absolute best of our youth products will make it at Chelsea. But when a player has shown excellent promise at youth and reserve level, gone on loan to several clubs and ALWAYS done very well. Played in the premiership and looked comfortable. To let that player go without even giving them a chance in our first team is shocking. Especially when our World Class highly paid midfielders are showing all the movement and desire of overweight gorillas.

Kind to gorillas. I'm not so sure that the players going somewhere else and doing well would do the same at Chelsea. People berating the fact that Sturridge is netting them at Bolton, maybe because Bolton is his level.

Not saying this is the case, and theres definitely a mode of thought at the higher level which entails chucking the Youth out with the bathwater......

Not sure I disagree with our decision regarding Cork. He is hardly setting the world alight at Burnley is he?? and did he get any takers for loan in the PL this year??. I know he is a main player in the U21's but is that that difficult??

If you don't give them the minutes on the pitch how can you ever tell? Sturridge was a decent goalscorer for us when given the starts, but for the most part he was used as a sub and given 15 minutes to make an impact. One of our biggest problems is continuing to play players clearly out of form, Sturridge should have been given more time when Drogba, Anelka and Malouda was playing so poorly.

True, but we do have him back next year so hopefully we will have learnt
