If we judged him off the price tag, we were robbed. I honestly don't know what he excels at or offers on a regular basis.

Thats why alot of the pundits were shocked that we were so eager to pay his release clause at Benfica.   He's a good midfielder on his day but he's not really a DM or AM that can properly influence the game.

Feel like the opposition know that he's not really up for a physical battle in midfield.

Yeahh those games who knows. They're not likely to be our rivals..miss the ole Arsenal days.

Just watch Saka/Havertz have an absolute field day against our defense. 🤬

I miss the days of actually competing against Arsenal and beating them!    Now the best case we can hope for is a 2-2 draw or an absolute belting.

Could just tell it was going to be one of those games before it kicked off. Forest with the dark arts, international break looming and going 1-0 down and making hard work of it. Emzo was a fucking joke in this game, he really does offer nothing most of the time and it is becoming more visible.

Now two weeks to Liverpool with two suspended. Brilliant

Nico likely suspended as well, for 3 to 5 games for slapping one of the Forest cunts

I can handle that, Nkunku will come in and hopefully stamp his authority

Nkunku is a not a 'lead the line' CF

he is more of a fox in the box type of SS/AMF

I had hoped that with time, he would progress in such areas. He's basically a luxury at this time, which cannot be afforded at such a position, as opposed to forward.

He was supposed to be a playmaker like Cesc, no DM.
But did not fulfill expectations.

That is the issue, however. There wasn't enough of a sample size to expect him to be a consistent playmaker at the highest level.

Unfortunately, Argentina's World Cup success just enhanced the hype surrounding him rather than his actually performances.

They said the same (even more so) about (for instance) Pirlo, who took years to sort out his role/niche (he was a disaster at Inter early on, after leavibg Brescia for them on a big money move, before he went back to Brescia on loan and they finally figured out his regsita role, with led to his massive AC Milan and then Juve spells) and grow into the insane player he eventually became.

I don't think we have "years" to sort it out though.   When you spend 100+ million on a midfielder, you expect instant results on the pitch.

Enzo had a good game. 2 key passes, and yes, I spotted them. They could've easily turned into assists--real ones not like Cole to Noni (it was all Noni for me).

In that regard he is indeed similar to Fabregas, and he's actually more balanced, as in a lot more physical than Fabregas was.

IMO folks here focus way too much on the CM pairing. He will likely improve as the team improves.
