Enzo Maresca Thread

I want to hear from Maresca, I hope he speaks out as the more I am reading he has actually just got his stuff and walked out. That's the biggest two fingered salute to the owners, basically saying I have had enough of this shit show, micro managing and picking the team above me...

Who exactly was he "forced" to play by the owners?

Most of the team picks itself when fit.  The only players who wouldn't be guaranteed game time are:
Tosin, Badi, George, Facundo and Gittens.

Hato seemed like a long term signing, Josh is from the academy and Guiu was only brought back because they thought Delap may not be ready by January.

Even if they did "pick" the team, the fact that he had no plan B in multiple games has nothing to do with ownership and more to do with his limited tactical skills (remember that he was a Championship level manager before getting the chance at Chelsea).

The medical staff also had a big say according to multiple sources, it wasn't just the starting 11 selection but how many minutes certain players were given.

My take on all this is simple, the cunts at the top didn't back him as we know, but at the same time I think Maresca give the two fingered salute by not starting Josh because we didn't get a Levi replacement. I think Maresca just downed tools as I think some players are now

The signings of Delap, Hato, Garnacho, the sheer embarrassment of having to go to Sunderland with our tails between our legs and get Guiu back because we fucked up yet another transfer window and we all knew Delap was going to fail because he is shite. Joao Pedro not an out and out 9 but we hoped and prayed he would do it

It's not leftfield. He has been the best club manager in South America for several years. He knows Estevao like the back of hid hand as well.

Are we Estevao FC now?

If his main selling point is that he knows an 18 year old like the back of his hand on top of being the “best club manager in South America” then I don’t see why anyone would be advocating him coming here.

We will likely get Rosenoir now which is bad enough but managers who do well in South America, having had a poor managerial career in Europe, shouldn’t be on any want to be elite club also.

Personally I'd want Emery (serious PL experience, manages well with flawed squads) but would settle for an ex-CFC vibe pick like Fabregas.

I agree. Emery or Cesc (vibes but seems to have a sharp team around him) would be the ones I'd look at too.

I worry that Rosenior will be a lightning rod for the fanbase's anger against the owners and will be walking into a tough atmosphere.

I am just happy someone is stupid enough to take this job on, no manager worth his salt would ever come here atm, that’s includes some that ain’t worth their salt as well

Yep, and imagine being Rosenior now. He is sat there probably thinking in the back of his head "what the fuck am I going into" whilst all along smiling knwoing he will double his salary and he cannot say no to the people who pay his wages, as if he says no he will probably be ousted from Strasbourg

I suspect he could stay at Strasbourg depending on what reasons he gave. They probably wont mind him as a long term set and forget coach there if he really has that little ambition.

But I doubt Rosenior is thinking anything negative, as surprising as that might sound in some ways - this really is an unbelievable opp for him if it is real, even if he only lasted a month it would be a huge career highlight for him - which says a lot of course. This is also an amazing time to join as we soon have one hell of a nice fixture run in PL and if you time it right you can get in, string a run of Ws together and suddenly you're winning Premier League manager of the month awards and being 'responsible' for us cementing a place in top 4 and people will start to say/think "Oh, if he had been here all season running them in this form they could have been competing for the title". Of course, some chance to win a cup as well - the squad has plenty of quality in it after all and on their day it is a cup winning squad for sure.

Imo it is all timed very deliberately including having some nobody fall guy take the City game, and this was probably decided as soon as he spoke out after the Everton game at the latest (probably Maresca sussed it out and that is why he started talking out, so it was probably even earlier).

Sick of these owners and this business approach which clearly is not about serial winning but about being a player factory, a pit stop for up and coming managers and players... its literally just a bigger budget Brighton with the same ambitions (i.e. non-sporting ones).

Even the crash out of Eghbali vs Maresca feels very Bloom vs De Zerbi.

Nothing will change, they want a glove puppet and they will be getting exactly that with Rosenior

Enzo did that at the start, it won’t last long and if what is being reported is true, why even get a manager
