I just think with the formation we're going to play with presumably, Ballack Lampard Deco Essien/Mikel Joe and one up front, I think Joe Cole would be the sacrifice in that to make way for Robinho which is what I dont want to see.

I can't see us playing Essien, Lampard, Ballack and Deco together in every game, plus at their ages it is very unlikely to happen. We will see, as we did pre season a 4-3-3 with wingers with Joe Cole and Robinho as the first choice for those positions.

We will have both formations available for us to use when needed.

Robinho's agent claims the Real Madrid forward's possible move to Chelsea will not happen this summer.

Chelsea have been trying to persuade Real to part with the Brazilian, only for the Spanish champions to insist Robinho is not for sale.

Reports suggest Chelsea would make one last attempt to persuade Real to do business for a player who has two years left on his contract.

The skilful attacker's agent Wagner Ribeiro says he will now have to revisit the situation in 12 months' time due to Real's stance.

"The dream of Chelsea is broken because Real Madrid will not even negotiate," said Ribeiro in the Daily Star.

"It is impossible to advance any conversation.

"Next summer we will sort out the situation if people can show some sense."

Robinho is understood to have been unhappy with Real due to the club's reported willingness to include him in any deal for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Real coach Bernd Schuster is keen to keep Robinho in his plans and says he has noticed no problems with his attitude.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has arrived in Madrid to wrap up the signing of Brazilian forward Robinho...

The Blues have reportedly been tossing up between two mega-money signings all summer.

On the one hand there is Robinho, Real Madrid's enigmatic but uniquely gifted winger-cum-striker; on the other, Kaka, the AC Milan playmaker widely regarded as the most elegant and brilliant player on the planet.

Recent whispers in the press suggested that the London giants had gone after the latter in a deal supposed to be worth a whopping €102million.

But the latest reports claim that Kenyon was in the Spanish capital yesterday to finalise Robinho's £25million move to Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old's future has been up in the air ever since los Merengues kicked off their quest to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with the former Santos star for most of the off-season, due in no small part to the appointment of ex-Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari as manager.

The West End club had an initial bid of just over £19million knocked back a few weeks ago, but their latest offer could well be enough to prise Robinho away from the Bernabeu.

This news comes despite the player's agent claiming yesterday that his client would not be going anywhere, and Real Madrid president Ramóand Calderóand's declarations that Robinho was "non-transferable".
